We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was elegant and had a nice view to a regular Paris street. The staff were courteous and friendly. There were very minor issues with cleaning the room one day (They didn't clean the room all morning and came later and asked us to leave on short notice if we wanted the...

We booked a standard room but got upgraded. Nice size for Paris, very central (close to some excellent shops and the Metro). Bed was wonderfully comfy. Lady at breakfast was a bit scary at first and seemed a little under pressure, but I think that's just her way, I think it was a communication problem rather than attitude. I'd recommend...

I cannot think of a better neighborhood to experience Parisian life than Madeleine. The Chavanel is in the midst of action, however is surprisingly quiet and relaxing. The rooms are bright and airy with a touch of french chic. Welcomed with macaroons and champagne, I cannot think of any place I would rather stay! J'adore Chavanel!

The Hotel Chavanel is a very nice hotel, with a good, safe location, near the Place de Madeleine. The hotel rooms are very modern, and quite comfortable. Mine had a refrigerator and couch and coffee table as well as the large bed. The man at the desk in the evenings (cannot recall his name) was exceedingly helpful. He gave us...

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
