Spent the night of Bastille Day here, having previously stayed about 20 years ago. The rooms are compact but well-appointed and clean; the shower's great. "Parisien" double on 7th floor has air con and a balcony with views of the Tour Montparnasse and the Tour...More
First, I booked this hotel because it was advertised as having air conditioning. IT DOESN'T HAVE AIR. Even though it says so on their website all we got in our room was a fan. We couldn't leave the window open at night because the street...More
We've just returned from a 3 night stay in Paris, and we found the Hotel du lion to be ideally situated for our trip.

We chose this hotel for its convenient location, with direct communication by RER trains to the airports and short journey to destinations in the city centre. Also the immediate neighbourhood is attractive with many cafe-bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is...More
I would strongly recommend this hotel. The room we were in was big and very comfortable. All services were perfect and hotel staff was so kind and helpful.

The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small
gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.

Yes, there are a two rooms with an Eiffel Tower view on the top floor. One in the corner and the other on the north-northeast side of the building. Although not a direct view, you can simple look to the left and see the Eiffel tower in the distance. It is actually a very nice view.

Hi, the other two reviewers were right. You first have to climb stairs before getting to the reception. The elevator is facing the reception and I never had problems with it. I was there last year and I will be 61 years now and had no problems with the stairs, but it depends on the physical aptitute of your parents. Shouldn't be such a problem if they are ok. Hope this helps. Room was good for the price and the location very good.
