My wife and I just spent six nights at the Fred Hotel on our first trip to Paris. We found the hotel to be perfect for our needs. We were really only looking for a place to rest our heads after busy days seeing all that Paris has to offer. It is located in a quiet street with lots of...

Stayed here for a weekend away and I must say I had a fantastic time. We were very pleased with our hotel room, although it was small it wasn't cramped and I think it added more charm to the room. Staff were very friendly and forgiving of my poor Français. I would definitely stay here again

Quaint hotel in a non-touristy area of Paris. I would recommend only if you are coming for a weekend or if you are travellng solo. We booked a classic room and it is very small. I understand this is Paris and you should expect small rooms but this was really small. We have stayed in some really small rooms in...

We stayed here for two nights in June 2013 and had a wonderful time. The neighborhood is much more residential and quiet, especially if you are looking for a less touristy area. We did not try breakfast, but it looked convenient. The staff were all great and our room was spacious compared to other hotels I have been to in...

The Fred is a small, boutique hotel on a very quiet side-street in the Montparnasse area. It's off the regular tourist-beaten paths so shops and restaurants cater to locals. But getting to different Paris sights is a cinch thanks to the excellent Metro system and a conveniently placed station (Pernety) about 2.5 blocks away. The hotel is decorated in clean,...

Fred Hotel is conveniently located, close to the metro station. The rooms are small, but very well designed and perfect for travelers who only come back to the room for the night. We loved it here. We did have an expensive room at the top of the hotel but it had great rooftop views if Paris. Free wifi which is always great and set in the heart of the 14th Arrondissement which is an area of Paris we would love to return to. Full of cafes and food shops.

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
