I have been staying at the Hotel La Louisiane since 2001 every second for a reunion with friends. The hotel is basic at best and it doesn't set out to be any more. It is however located in a fantastic location with countless bistro, restaurants, bars, street markets and shops and is only a very short walk to Notredame and the river seine. The st Michel station for the RER to and from Charles de Gaule airport is a 10 minute walk and takes only 40 minutes with no transfers.
The hotel has fairly simple rooms but all have an en suite that I've stayed in, free wifi and, if you need, a small restaurant for morning coffee and croissant however I recommend you just step out into Rue de Buci and choose any number of patisserie or bars in the neighbourhood.
Beware that the elevator is limited to max 2 persons without baggage so arriving with a suitcase there will be several trips to get everything into the room! Also, learn to walk sideways as the corridors in the hotel seem to get narrower as you get the end!
For a budget stay in the very best part of Paris, in my mind, give it a go!

I have been staying at La Louisiane for almost 10 years and it never disappoints.Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, although the lack of A/C and TV may not suit everyone. There are lots of nice big towels every day for the bath/ shower and extra pillows and blankets for cool nights. The location is just perfect, right at the corner of Rue de Seine and Rue Buci, quintessential Paris...a half a block from the Seine and the same to Blvd. Ste. Germain.Staff are friendly and helpful.

I stayed at the Hotel La Louisiane for 3 nights in May 2007 as a solo traveller. The hotel is in a fantastic location on Rue de Seine between Rue de Buci and the Boulevard St. Germain. Major sights within 5-10 mins walk include the Louvre, the Jardin de Luxembourg, the Musee d'Orsay, Saint Germain-des-Pres church, and Notre Dame. There are also a ton of great eateries nearby including the bakery Paul and the gelateria Amorino right around the corner, and the Fromagerie 31 three doors down. There's also a Champion supermarket right across the little street from the hotel.

I made a reservation by calling the hotel directly. The staff was English-speaking and fine. Admittedly, I was frightened when I stepped out of the tiny elevator onto the third floor. The hallway is in desperate need of a paint job and new carpeting. It's a little bit of a wreck. However, the room looked like it had been recently redone. I had a single room facing the courtyard. It was clean and very spacious by Parisian standards. The room included a full-sized bed, desk, chair, a mini-refrigerator (empty), an electric fan, and a shelving unit with hangers. The bathroom looked brand new with a large tub and handheld shower (no curtain, but this is pretty standard in Paris). Everything was really clean and the bed was comfortable.

The breakfast room also looked recently updated, but the food itself wasn't particularly special for the 6 euros. You get a choice of a couple of breads, a croissant, fresh-squeezed juice, coffee, yogurt, oranges, and apple sauce. You may want to try Paul or one of the nearby cafes instead.

It's no five star, but for the price, it is an excellent value and a fantastic location. As long as you're not expecting the Ritz and you can deal with the ugly hallway, I'd highly recommend it.

There are cameras on each floor, keycards that show who has been in the room. Still management acted unprofessionally in this matter. Just informed me that cleaning lady had not taken them. I listen to music each night before sleep and did NOT take them outside of the room. Plus Bluetooth could not connect to them, so they were not in the room,
I wrote a complaint to the hotel, while we were still there. Didn't receive an answer before I after 2 days, had returned home and requesting a reply to my complaint. They claimed the Airpods were found and they would leave them in the lost and found drawer at the hotel.
NEVER had such a bad and unprofessional experience. Can not recommend this hotel in any way.

I have difficulties to consider this as hotel, or I would rate it between 1 to 2 stars hotel.
Location is really good, in a seemly safe area too.

Room, floor and permise seems old, which is fair, but without a refresh, the carpet on the floor was old, consumed and dusty.

Water in the shower was working at intermittent.
Staff some seemed disinterested to the client, however owner seemed engaged and care more about the people.
The price I had pay per night was far above (more than 200 euro per nigh) of what I would expect. If you go for tourism, consider that is a very basic equipped but near bars and restaurants where you could eat… no to be considered if traveling for business.

I have often stayed at La Louisiane if not very recently as now have my own apt near by.
Always found it very welcoming and charming with a great helpful staff and a ideal location.
Have recommended it to numerous discerning friends who all loved it and returned when in Paris.
Noticed recently a particularly nasty review and felt compelled to write that that person lacked taste and appreciation for this historic hotel! Their loss!
To me La Louisiane represents the soul of my favorite city.

After Lockdown eased a bit, (I had both Jabs). I immediately booked Eurostar to Paris. Finally a breath of fresh air without the confusion of Mask On-Mask Off, Curfew or Quarantines. Xavier, Charlotte and Team are gracious Hosts as is all the Staff. Located in the 6th., it's steps away from shopping, Cafes and nightlife. Also, it's close to all our Fashion Clients, etc.
Definitely Check in...

Thank you Chrissy, we always enjoy to host large groups. This often gives a very cheerful air in our ground floor lounges and first floor reception rooms when groups meet there. For a family hotel like La Louisiana, it's obvious to open its arms even to large groups of friends or large families.

Many thanks to Xavier Blanchot and the whole team of this wonderful hotel. From this hotel, one can walk everywhere in Paris. It is so central and convenient.
La Louisianne is unlike any other establishment. Atypical, its incredible location in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés for an unbeatable price-quality offer.
Family and historical hotel. Literary and loving contemporary art. Huge international names have succeeded and still do today. So many musicians, writers, artists, cineasts who have left their DNA and their energy all around. The rooms are very pleasant and isolated from street life. I recommend without any limit. In gratitude, Sophie Marie

Thank you Sophie, it was a joy to welcome you. The La Louisiana hotel has a special history with travelers from the United States, and among them, an even more special link both with those from New York (so present from 1945 to 1980) as well as with those from the California, two places where I have lived myself. Welcome to Romania back in 1965!
Run down, for lack of a better word, sinister, cannot believe they are still in business! On the other hand: cheap and well located. Make sure you carry a gun as you might want to shoot yourself in the mouth.

Yes, you can take public transportation. We did it! I don't know which terminal you will be arriving in. You may need to take the free shuttle to another terminal to catch the metro into the city. It is inexpensive. However, if you have a lot of luggage, I would not recommend it. There are lots of stairs and escalators. There is a metro stop very close to the hotel.
