I stayed here for a single night before a morning train from Gare de Lyon.I picked the hotel for its proximity to the station. When I arrived I was given a room on the 6th floor and had to walk up 2 flights as the (tiny) lift ony goes to floor 4.5 .I found it impossible to open the room door.When...

We spent one night here while in transit in Paris. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The room provided a roof over our heads and three single beds squeezed in with good, clean en suite bathroom. Excellent shower. Probably not ideal for a long stay but perfectly good if all you need is a place to sleep. We'd...

We arrived in Paris, August 18, 2012, the first day of the heatwave. The city hit 36 degrees Celsius and the Hotel Helvetia DOES NOT have airconditioning. The elevator breaks frequently and we were carry 2 23kilos luggages and we have to carry them up. We opened the windows but it was VERY VERY noisy outside. I hardly sleep the...

On a recent two-week trip to Wales, England, Paris and Switzerland, the Hotel Helvetia wins the family's award for best value and meeting/exceeding expectations. Was it luxurious? No. But it was very comfortable, the staff was great and with the much-celebrated 'tiny elevator' out of service that week breakfast was complimentary and it was actually pretty good. We chose it...

The hotel lobby was shabby and we had to walk up 4 flights (the elevator was out of order) which didn't strike the right note. But the room turned out to be big and appealing and the bed was comfortable. Everything was clean and quiet. We left at 6:30 am so we were only in the room a few hours.

We stayed for two nights as part of our Europe trip. Our 4th floor double room was small and without AC but overall comfortable. There's a lift which stops in between the floors so you may have to manage 6-7 stairs with you luggage. The breakfast (Euro 8) was basic but will fill you for your morning site seeing. The...

.... and how much pleasanter than the Gare du Nord equivalents ! Clean and recently refurbished. Basic hotel, two minutes from Gare de Lyon (train/RER/metro). Cheaper (when I booked) than the big brother hotels nearby, clean and modern. Except (as mentioned by others) the eccentric tiny one person lift. For Paris (a major qualification) reasonably good value for money. In...
