Boutique hotel- Safe, Clean, Comfortable, Quiet, and Clean ( yes I meant clean twice) I typically do not sleep well when I am away from home. It was our first time to Paris to celebrate my husband's birthday. However, I was well rested all five mornings I woke up at the Chess hotel. The rooms were modern with comfy beds....

A very friendly, chic and comfortable hotel well located on a quiet side street close to the Opèra. A great extra touch offered by the hotel is a complimentary smartphone for you to use and take out and about giving you free calls and data to save on your roaming!

Nice hotel in the centre of Paris, next to the Opera grandious buiding and all major Paris attractions. I expected more about chess motives but black and white compose is also characteristic. Reception at the first floor

Great central location, 3 minutes walk from the lovely La Fayette shopping galleries. A really super boutique hotel with great showers & helpful staff. Loved the free 4g phone in the room with pre-loaded tourist apps. Booked with Secret Escapes, who never disappoint with the great hotel's they choose to have on their portfolio. Thanks for a great stay!

Unique little hotel, cute themes and rooms (small, but that's normal for Paris). Uber fare to/from airport is about 40Euro, might be more w traffic. Staff was fabulous. Breakfast was only 'ok' and the biggest drawback for me was no fitness center. They informed me that I could go across the street but it would be 40 Euro! Location is...

Above average for Paris standards: a quiet place in the middle of the city. Pros: Great location (near Opera, Boulevard des Italiens, cinemas, bars, etc), modern room equipment including big flat screen tv, nice room decoration, friendly staff, secret garden, free drink upon arrival, decent (though not extraordinary) breakfast, cute vintage, fixe line telephone, big enough bathroom (with its personalised...

Rooms // clean, cozy, modern. Not big, not small, typical for Paris i would say. The bed is comfortable to sleep it, the wardrobe is big enough to leave your stuff. There is a small safe and fridge - but as far as i understood no free of charge bottled water. Bathroom // big enough, clean shower, clean sink, good...

Of the thousands of options in Paris for hotels, we picked a good one! Great location, just 10 mins from Gare du Nord and in excellent strolling distance from the Louvre etc. Great room (try and get a corner one), much larger than the traditional Parisian hotel room, funky decor, mixed with great service and a real boutique feel. Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Chess Hotel opened in 2014 in one of the most prestigious areas of Paris. Located close to the Opera, La Madeleine, the Grands Magasins department stores, and La Bourse, the Paris stock exchange, it is a unique establishment in many ways. Firstly, it astonishes with its compelling aesthetics. It boasts an original design by Gilles and Boissier, which makes striking use of beautiful materials such as linen, oak and Carrara marble. It features the bold and innovative artwork of Cyprien Chabert. From the curvaceous furniture and quality fabrics to the hues of the wood and the shape of the fixtures, no detail was left to chance. A harmonious and elegant decor has been created that is like no other. While chic and refined, the Chess Hotel is also distinguished by its welcoming and cosy atmosphere, which transforms each room into a true haven. The heart of the city beats just beyond our doorstep. Yet somehow the hotel seems miles away from any hustle and bustle. Travellers are invited to enjoy absolute relaxation. A game of chess by the fire or a quiet hour's reading on the inner terrace. Perhaps an evening spent in blissful privacy amidst the original decor and intimate atmosphere of your room. After long hours of work, or a busy day's sightseeing, you will appreciate the calm and gentle ambience of the Chess Hotel. The Chess Hotel is also exceptional in terms of facilities and services. It is a place distinguished by our efficient, yet warm and gracious, hospitality. It is a place that transcends routine. We are proud that our guests are so much more to us than simply clients. It is a charmingly friendly hotel which places an accommodating and helpful team at the disposal of all guests. We are pleased to provide personalised services and thoughtful recommendations for discovering the treasures of Paris, allowing you to venture off the beaten paths of the capital. ... more   less
