I have stayed a couple of times overnight in the Hotel de France when the standard business hotels close to my firm’s Velizy office have been fully booked. As many others have mentioned the key selling points are its superb location on a cobbled street opposite the main entrance to the Palace of Versailles and the fact that you stay... More

Rooms are a unusually decorated and looking a little tired now. The rooms have safe boxes, but they are just left sitting loose on top of a wardrobe, so not so secure. Receptionist is shared between reception duties and restaurant duties in the adjacent restaurant so occasionally need to wait a few minutes or go looking for them. Breakfast is... More

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. The room was clean but very tired and old. Old we can do smelly we can not. The receptionist was , we'll not all there, when asked about parking she just shrugged her shoulders, when I asked which way was our room when we checked in she just... More

My stay in the Hotel de France was very enjoyable. On the first night there I had my purse placed in the hotel safe so that my American money, credit card and other information would not be in danger if my room was broken into or if I was pickpocketed in the crowds of Versailles. However, upon checking out, I... More

I couldn't really give this hotel more than 3 stars, but I have stayed here several times. Why? Superb location right next to the chateau, some lovely bedrooms and actually, the quirks sometimes make me smile... We arrived and the computer mouse was dead, so the man booked us in lying on the floor as the lead of the other... More

The atmosphere is appropriate to the Versailles area, unfortunately the status of the hotel is also outdated. Room insulation is poor and the service was far to be an example. If you want to be in a historical place well located and if you can accept a service of à Max. 2star hotel, this is your hotel. Breakfast is below... More

We enjoyed our night at the hotel de France the rooms are good value especially for the proximity to Versailles. We walked here 10 mins from Chantiers station after dropping our bags off and then returning our car to Avis - so was very convenient location wise. The rooms are large and have big bath tubs. Didn't try breakfast here... More

As we were two couples travelling together, we chose the 2 bedroom suite. This was an excellent choice for us and good value compared to two separate rooms. You enter the apartment via the first bedroom. This room has two single beds pushed together. There is another door off this leading to a short corridor. From here you can access... More

The hotel is nicely decorated inside in the French chateau style, very pleasant old-style rustic design without plastic and other synthetic materials, like polyurethane ceiling, which often are used in French hotels. The rooms are spacious enough, with tub in the bathroom, which also is rare for French. Only 3 TV channels available, but there's free Wi-Fi in the room.... More

The hotel has a perfect location, the staff is friendly, but forget about sleeping! The first night there was a wedding and the party went from loud to bumping music until 2 AM to drunks yelling in the halls after 4 AM. Surely if you book a function like this you would close down the hotel, wouldn't you? The next... More
