The owner was very, very nice. He runs a little cafe with free light breakfast as well. Very basic, sort of Spartan accommodations. Right across the street from the train station, which was convenient, but I didn't factor in the noise, which can't be helped. If you're on a budget for a short stay, an option to consider.

The La Consigne is conveniently situated in a small strip mall across from the rail station. Car rental agencies and a small convenience store at the same location were an added plus. Our room was quite, clean and comfortable. Scheduling did not allow for dining, but the hotel restaurant appeared to be a favorite with locals. Will have to try...

I was a little concerned that an inexpensive hotel across from the train station would be a bit run-down, but that was not the case. This little hotel is well-maintained and quite comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant/bar downstairs is reasonably priced and the food was excellent. The neighborhood around the hotel was good, too. We...

Great value and a great location for travel. There is also a nice cafe on premises with reasonably priced food and excellent service. The room was clean and the bathroom most adequate. All things considered, I would stay here again.

This place is great. Right next to the station. Next to the car hire places. Clean, cheap, well run. Good beers at the bar. Tasty breakfast. Free fast wifi. Extremely nice and helpful service. Held our bags when we checked out. Gave us great dinner recommendations. Highly recommended.

Stayd here for 3 nights while visiting the Normandy Beaches and other D-Day sites. Hotel rooms are small, but that is standard for most European budget hotels. Breakfast at the hotel was good and gave us a good start to the day. The staff was extremely friendly and the location is amazing. Directly across from the train station and very...

We only stayed for one night before hiring a car and moving to Bayeux as our base for the landing beaches. We had come from Aix-en-Provence by train and felt that Caen was far enough for one day. We chose this hotel because it is directly across from the railway station, tram stop and beside the car hire companies. The...

We are here only for one night and are very happy with the place. It is right across the street from the railway station. The food and friendly service are perfect when you are tired from traveling. We would recommend it to fellow traveler's.

Wonderful place to stay :) Right across from the train station, so it was conveniently located (it was also close to car rental places, restaurants, and the castle) . As soon as we entered the building a gentleman helped us out with our itinerary (renting a car, where to go visit, how long it would take to drive etc.). He...

This charming hotel is the perfect spot for arriving, departing and visiting Caen and the area. Across from train, tram, bus station (and nearby several rental car companies), you can get anywhere in Caen and Normandy from here. The hotel and restaurant were very clean and well-maintained. But the best part of the stay was the staff. They were very...

“Some rooms definitely face the main square which, probably in summer, will be a bit noisy with local nightlife, but didn't bother me at all in winter. You can hear the trams every so often, but they have rubber wheels so not as noisy as in other European cities.”
