Right opposite the train station, outstanding service and very friendly staff. We really appreciated all their help as soon as we checked in. Very reasonable rates, and very clean hotel room. The food was good. They even cooked us dinner when they were about to close the restaurant. They went above and beyond reasonable expectations.Special thanks to Julian, Regis and...

This hotel is located in the convenient if slightly down at heel station area. Although the area looks unprepossessing there is a tram stop directly opposite which will take you to the city centre ( or about 10-15 mins walk)and the subway under the station leads you to the Rives L'Orne shopping centre where there are chain restaurants and a...

My husband and I stayed at La Consigne during a brief trip to Caen. As we are roller coaster tourists, our main goal was to get to Festyland amusement park, but we scheduled a few days in town so we could also see the castle and the D-Day museum. We don't speak any French and this was our first time...

We were very impressed with this hotel. We were given a room on the second floor when we first arrived but I find the stairs very difficult. I asked if it was possible to move to a room on the first floor and they went out of their way to arrange this. We were asked to pack our luggage and...

We found staff at La consigne welcoming and helpful. For a mid range price we felt there were good facilities. Walls are not thick but noise was not a problem for us. We were very happy during our short stay, would go back and would recommend to others. Caen was a stop over for us but the staff were very...

What started as a routine query at the desk about the time of buses to the ferry led to the discovery that there was no ferry on the morning we hoped to travel. Staff members were exceptionally patient and helpful with making alternate arrangements. They saved us from a lot of fruitless waiting and a major disruption of our next...

We need a hotel for a couple of days in Caen for taking a couple of tours, one from Caen and the other one from Bayeux so we chose this hotel because it was across the street from the train station. It's clean, the owner is very nice and helped us get our things to and from the room (no...

It was great being able to walk out of the train station in a strange town and see your hotel straight in front of you. The hotel is actually above a cafe of the same name, so go in the cafe and the two chaps will greet you there and show you the room upstairs. They also provided a fulsome...

All in all our stay turned out fine, but it could have been a disaster. First, there was no mention in the information on the website that the rooms are not air-conditioned. Second, the communication with the owners was difficult and very slow. When I finally found out there was no air-conditioning, it was too late to do anything other...

La Consigne is a smal, budgetl hotel across the street from the Caen railroad station. My room was immaculately clean and very quiet. The proprietor, Mr. Regis couldn't have been nicer. He also runs the bar and restaurant on the ground floor. There is no elevator so he carried my larger suitcase up the stairs for me. I had a...

“Some rooms definitely face the main square which, probably in summer, will be a bit noisy with local nightlife, but didn't bother me at all in winter. You can hear the trams every so often, but they have rubber wheels so not as noisy as in other European cities.”
