Detailed Reviews
We found this campground had way too many campers and not enough space. we didn't want to late a fire due to the fact that we were nervous of lighting other people's tents on fire. the view was beautiful it was amazing on the beach. there's a stairway down to the beach, we went down the stairs we noted that the black Gray water pipe from the trailers actually went underground into the ocean which made us kind of nauseous hoping that the septic didn't do the same. the beach was rather clean. The owner or the caretaker was not at the office when we went in it was very old looking and run down the lots were not maintained maintained and the public facilities such as the bathroom and the showers were unpleasant so we used our trailer for our personal needs and because of the lack of cleanliness we did not use the pool it was very quiet where we were. There are many people all mainly families maybe a long time people that have been there for a long time but we probably will not go back to visit there again

Stayed for 3 days after provincial covid restrictions were lifted. Campground lands were in OK shape, there is some grass between the decent sized lots and a fire pit at each site albeit very small pits and hold tiny pieces of wood.
Pool was in decent shape, clean but the water was very very cloudy and couldn't see the bottom, walking g on the bottom felt like walking on sand and pebbles. If you have young kids you may want to look elsewhere as the playground is falling apart and in serious disrepair, I refused to allow my 5 and 8 year Olds play on the slide that is likely older then my parents and the wooden play structure was leaning over worse then the leaning tower of piza, there were fish plates and gussets trying to hold the structure together. It was in real bad shape.
There was a very large party that went on until almost 6AM, they were very noisy and driving quad bikes (atv's) around the property drunk and with no regard
The owner seemed like an OK guy, I only seen him on the golf cart a few times and spike to him when we were signing in. The language barrier between English and his home language something that can use some work. Very very hard to understand the man.

Stopped by from the Annapolis Valley for a few days of camping. Tropical storm Elsa blow us around and made for a fun first night and had the wife and kids scared but we knew it was coming.
Did some bass fishing and got a few small undersized that we had to return but we did get lots of clams right off the shore of the campground.
Our kids were disappointed that the playground is in poor shape and we wouldn't let them play on the slides and swings as they appeared to be falling over.
Pool was awesome, not heated but the kids didn't complain however you couldn't see anymore then a foot and half into the water, chlorine seemed quite strong as well.
Over all great trip, will come back, hope they fix the playground as that was a loss to my young children.

Just back from a weekend at Five Islands Ocean Resort and wanted to share our experience in the hopes of others having a better experience. While the campground is located very close to the beach and the scenery in Five Islands can’t be beat, we won’t be returning to that particular campground. The bathrooms were very dirty-toilets and showers were not cleaned. We typically camp at provincial parks so I’m familiar with bathrooms being “well used” on a busy weekend…this was much more than just being a busy bathroom. To be honest, the showers were so gross that most of us didn’t shower while we were there (and this weekend was very hot and humid). The pool was also extremely dirty-bugs and other things floating in it and garbage on the deck around it. There was no staff around to tend to it. The back of our site had used toilet paper and other garbage left there from previous tenters. The garbage/recycling cans were often overflowing. The proximity to the beach gives the campground lots of potential but the uncleanliness of the place was very disappointing. If I had read a post like this prior to booking, I would have likely avoided booking there so I’m hoping to save someone else that trouble.

They do not allow any type of “ bull “ dog, Rottweiler , wolf mix. They also will not give you a refund in any circumstances. Once you pay you’re screwed. Terrible people , terrible business. They also control how many adults are allowed in one campsite.

There was not a lot of availability when we booked ..... due to covid. With that said we made the best of it. Buildings are in serious need of tlc. Showers remind me of a murder movie. Any tenters I felt sorry for because it seemed they were left to set up in the septic bed. The view is amazing. The gentleman running the place is in need of help.... it's a lot to do alone. The accommodations were not for anyone that doesn't like roughing it. The bathroom door didn't stay closed. There was no stove just a hot plate that didn't work and no grill for the firepit. The entry door had easy access to every flying or crawling critter there could be.

This campground bans bully breeds of dogs. I recommend the Provincial campground as they are not bias towards any dog. Campgrounds like this do not deserve anyone's business. Thank god we read the pet policy.

Stay away, stay away stay away. These people are rude and unfriendly, not a typical NS welcome here, you will NOT enjoy your stay, visit other regions of NS. Five Islands is an historical region of NS, but the staff at this camp ground will leave you with an unpleasant feeling of your visit to the region. Stay away.

This has been the worst place we have ever stayed at in over 25 years of RVing around North America. Our first experience with Sandra (one of the owners) was on check in. She wanted to charge us an extra $20.00 for showing up late. Claiming they had to turn people away because the site was full. One only had to look around and see the place was nearly empty all weekend. Then when she was guiding us to our spot she yelled at us for "SPEEDING" but we were following her in her little golf cart. Then when we parked and set up our satellite dish so we could take in the World Cup Tim (the other owner) told us we had to pay an extra $10.00 for using a satellite dish. I said are you kidding me, you do not own the satellite service. I told him I was not paying that fee, he said fine and then Sandra came back and told us we had to leave because we were causing a disturbance. Keep in mind we had only been parked for 2 hours. I asked for a refund and she said there are no refunds when you abuse the rules. We packed up and left, but not before calling our credit card company to have the 5 day stay reversed.
The long and short of this is, the place is a dump, not well maintained at all, the owners are idiots and very rude. Do yourself a favor people and avoid this place, there are better views from other sites and way cheaper. Oh I also saw a listing that the place is for sale. SOMEONE PLEASE BUY THIS PLACE AND CLEAN IT UP!!!!

What can we say, my wife and I love to travel the maritime's, very scenic. In the fall we began to plan our weekends for trips and our first spot this year on May long weekend was Five Islands Resort. First a tip for the owners remove the word resort and replace with DUMP. I wish I had of read all the comments about this place prior to booking there. Many of the issues from the past 2 years still exist today including SANDY. This person Sandy who yes people is the owner is rude, ignorant and is in it solely to take your money. Our stay started withe the check in process, not computerized 30 min to check in, Tim, Sandy's boyfriend will argue and convince you that 'Cash is King' and they dangle a little discount in front of you if you pay cash. One needs to wonder why it's always cash, are they not reporting any income or is it so you can't get a refund from your credit card company. After we finally checked in we were escorted by Sandy on her little princess golf cart to our site we noticed the place was deserted only 3 other units so far. We parked, set up began cooking dinner. An hour later here Comes Sandy on her little princess cart yelling and screaming at us because we were in the wrong spot. She told us we moved from where she put us and we had to pay more and demanded cash right then and now. I laughed at her and said seriously you think we moved? I said no, our ticket says this site. She argued some more then left. Well 11 oclock rolls around, the wife and I are just falling asleep when we were awoken by a loud banging on our door. I got up, answered it and there she is again Sandy yelling at me again because apparently I moved into the wrong spot again, which by the way I never did move the first time. There was another RV parked on the pathway and the guy had the most dumbfounded look on his face when Sandy told us to pack up and leave. I said to here you know what, no problem as soon as you refund me my money. She reiterated the policies of no refunds blah blah blah then threatened to call the cops. I said go ahead because my ticket says this spot. The other guy in the RV looked at the ticket and sure enough she double booked the spot. Now one has to wonder how do you double book a spot because when I got up in the morning and went for a jog, I counted 11 sites booked and that was it. So let's review the facilities, Rec room Condemned, Pool Condemned although the official sign from the NS Health Department was removed later that day, Men's washroom still out of order since last year, play ground old and rusty would never allow children to play on it, Garbage bin still full from last year and smelt of rotten food which by 3pm the whole camp ground could smell. 4pm Saturday after yet another argument with Sandy because Sandy fealt we were causing trouble because 2 other people had come over and asked us what was going on last night. Needless to say we all started to tell her off and shortly vacated the campsite. People safe yourself the trouble, do not go there, do not pay cash if you do because you have no recourse. I read on another complaint that Sandy was a former teacher and won a dream home which is where she got the money to buy this place and they live in Phoenix during the off season.
