We stopped here for 2 nights on our way back to the UK. It's a great little place although could do with a bit of updating in the rooms but everything else was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent as were breakfasts. Would definitely recommend this hotel if your in the area.
Stopped in Saumur to break the journey south. We haves used this one many times. It’s quite a bit out of town but their restaurant is OK. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and basic but have everything you need for an overnight stop and you can park your car right outside your room. Would be a five star review but this Campanile is getting ready for a refit and is starting to look a bit tired.
This hotel enjoys a large and free car park and is located in a quiet area, in Bagneux, up-hill of Saumur, roughly 10 min drive from downtown. Service, cleaness, breakfast buffet, reasonnable rates, are the key positive points that I have experienced during those 3 days. Also, a bit "old fashion style", with chairs and beds that would be better change for new ones, are the drawback that I've noticed ... nothing serious in fact.
Booked this hotel via booking.com for a junior equestrian competition team over the Easter weekend. A hasty mistake on my part that I booked some rooms on a non-refundable rate. Short story - team unable to compete, so cancelled rooms. Booking.com helped me negotiate with the Campanile such that they agreed to refund for any rooms booked that (Easter) weekend. Some of the rooms were re-booked.... the Campanile subsequently changed their mind and will not communicate either via booking.com or Louvre Hotels - the parent group. I have suffered a large personal financial loss. Disappointing that a large hotel group has such poor customer service attitude. Judging by other reviews we didn't miss much anyway.
I have waited two months before posting a review, I only usually comment on positive experiences. I had hoped to receive some form of compensation for the way my group and myself were treated. Just had an apology by email. I have never met such an impolite person as the lady running this hotel, she was totally unable to handle our group booking of 26. I'd changed my booking. come reservation to go directly with her as she told me on the phone it was more advantageous for the hotel. I'd had understood our coach driver was given his room for free, as is usual for group bookings. All I got was a lot of huffing and condescending remarks. It was totally unnecessary and spoiled our evening in Saumur. Our group will never book a campanile hotel again.
