We stayed with our family of 4 and booked Nature and Art Deco rooms. We liked the following aspects of La Rochelle Lodge: Off street parking, breakfast (included ham/ cheese/ salami from local area), host Eric who was very helpful with maps and information, spacious room size, heating was good, wifi no problems. The stay would be even better if: *We had chosen a different room. The thunderous noise from people moving around in room above, the meowing cat and cat fights kept us awake. *The room needs maintenance. The limestone wall is crumbling and you can hear stones falling off, leaving rubble on tiles. (See pics). The room had a damp smell. *Bedding needs attention. Mattress was very saggy, as were pillows (note pillow drop over chair in pics). *chair in Art Deco room is peeling and needs replacement. Our sons had a much better stay in Art Deco room and we would stay again at La Rochelle but not in Nature room.

Sa surface est de 40 m² et la salle de bain est de 9 m² Dear guests, I thank you for your comment, I am sorry that your night has been disturbed by brawling cats. I am happy that your children had a good and quiet night in the room "art deco". La Rochelle Lodge is an authentic old Charente farmhouse. The bedding is in excellent condition. I take note of your remarks for the chairs. The "Nature" room is on the ground floor, it is labeled for people with reduced mobility. It overlooks the terrace and is a few meters from the pool. Its surface is 40 m² and the bathroom is 9 m²

We stayed as a stopover en route to our holiday, and it was the ideal recuperation from our journey. The lodge is ideally located for visiting La Rochelle, it is 10 minutes by car on a straight route. The accommodation is beautiful, every part of the property is beautiful from the grounds surrounding the house to details in decor. We stayed in Linen room which was warm and welcoming with everything we could possibly need, plenty of fluffy white towels, a large shower, comfortable beds, we had an excellent sleep. Breakfast was served in the French country house kitchen overlooking the garden in a room bathed in sunlight and the warm welcoming smiles of our host, who has an excellent sense of humour and nice spirit! Breakfast was fresh and tasty bread croissant, local cheese and delicious charcuterie, great coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, it's possibly on of the best overnight stays I've had anywhere (& I travel extensively with work) it just felt homely. La Rochelle is also a lovely place to visit, we went into the port on arrival and had a good meal in the streets behind the port, then visited for the day following our stay before we moved on to Ile de Re. The port is vibrant and welcoming day and night, we didn't venture much into town as found everything we needed for our short visit by the harbour.

Maybe it's our old sat nav though we ended up in a village some 5km away and only found our way back due to the kindness of a local Frenchman who drove there with us following .... In reality the accommodation is within a few minutes of the motorway junction and just off the roundabout heading north The accommodation is excellent and there is nothing really further to add to what has already been said. The owner is very friendly and I would recommend that you take his advice when it comes to local restaurants . We end up in le Port du Plomb and had perhaps the best meal of our holiday at the Coquillages et Crustaces!

We stayed at La Rochelle Lodge very early October with our friends. We stayed in ArtDeco room, they stayed in Linen Room. Both were of an excellent size, pleasantly decorated, clean and with very good shower room & separate WC. Beds comfortable and soft clean towels. Breakfast was plentiful with lovely coffee, croissants, cheese & meat. Eric was an excellent host and I would strongly recommend this charming Chambre d'hôte to anyone staying in La Rochelle area.

We are a family of 5 who stayed here for one night in July en route to a campsite in the Vendee region. It is a really charming villa in the small village not far outside La Rochelle. Yes, it was in a rural setting but was only a 10 minute drive from the bustling port of La Rochelle. We stayed in the Art Decor room which was extremely spacious and comfortably accommodated all 5 of us. There is a separate shower room and bathroom en suite. The beds were very comfortable. In the morning we had a lovely breakfast outside in the courtyard. Fresh bread, fresh croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice, local ham and cheese, tea and coffee (and hot chocolate for the children) listening to the birds sing. The outdoor pool was an added bonus and satisfied the kids after a 5 hour drive from the ferry. Eric, who owns and runs the property, was very welcoming and went out of his way to help us. He stored our bicycles in his cellar that night and even offered to store our bike carrier in his car port while we went in to La Rochelle for dinner. Overall, I would highly recommend this for a weekend retreat, or a stopover like us. You won't find better. Thank you Eric for a good start to a lovely holiday. Our only regret was that we could not stay for longer, but next time we will.
