We booked king-size room-only stay in July, I had asked for a nice room possibly overlooking the harbour. When we arrived staff were very friendly and all spoke excellent english! We checked in to our teeny tiny room, which was like being in a cabin on the boat, just enough room for a double bed and the bathroom was practically...

It was my wife's birthday and we had decided to go to France and Spain on a bit of a road trip for a fortnight. After the ferry crossing the first five to six hours of driving put us in the Bordeaux region and having never been to La Rochelle I booked the Mercury Hotel for the one night which...

Our first visit to La Rochelle. Even with satnav the exact location of the main entrance not eady to find. The old town is interesting with fine views from the tops of the old towers. Plenty of choice of restaurants though the better ones are the other side of the port from the Mercure. A fish lover's paradise. Ile de...

Dear JandJ46140, Thank you so much for your comment. Regarding our entry, you're right, it's a little bit difficult to find us with the GPS, you have to enter the "Avenue de Colmar" and you should not hesitate to cross the prohibited direction, it's the only way to arrive into our car park. We hope that you will have the...

Lovely spot, lovely location (can not be better). We obviously picked up the right week end as the weather was fantastic which definitely helped as we could walk from the hotel to the shops and restaurants. Lovely recommendations from the staff for seafood platters and local food. Go, go, go!!! Highly recommended!

Having stayed at a lot of Ibis and Mercure hotels I was a little disappointed in the room size that was small and which had the prefabricated en suite that resembled the cheaper IBIS hotels. There was also a lack of storage space with only one single wardrobe and three small drawers. Apart from that the location was great, staff...

Seven years on, the Mercure La Rochelle still commands a wonderful position just a short walk to the old port. A town of immense character and charm. The investment in the surrounding port area has been huge, but truly worthwhile. Our Privilege Room (€124) was not cheap but having a Nespresso Coffee maker was appreciated. Parking is gratis. The room...

This was the second Mercure hotel on this trip and unlike Lyon where everything was supersized this felt rather cramped. The location was very nice and overlooks an end of the harbor. Arriving late it was not not possible to see at night but next morning that was possible. It is a peaceful location and we used the restaurant which...

friendly staff, room, bed and bathroom ok (enough power outlets, enough water flow in the shower, good temperature regulation. The only minus was dinner at night. I had expected a better quality wine for a 31 € bottle of wine. It was merely average. We also had to wait quite a while before our order was taken, and for dessert...

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel, the website photos don't really do it justice. The room was bigger than the photos suggested, the bed was very comfy and the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The hotel a large, very comfortable establishment and a gentle stroll to the harbour. The room, facilities and wifi were first class. If you have been to La Rochelle before you will know that the harbour is surrounded with a plethora of bars, cafes & restaurants which makes the selection of where to eat a bit of a lottery.
