This is a great budget hotel that couldn’t be closer to the harbour. The rooms are spotless and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s not luxury but at the price it is it’s great value for money. It does a breakfast but I didn’t partake.

My friend and I booked this hotel due to its budget price and central location. The location was great and there’s lovely shops and restaurants nearby. However, that is probably the only good thing about this hotel. On arrival there was nobody at the reception of the hotel, when we rang nobody answered so we waited 30 minutes before anybody came to help us. When the receptionist came, although we requested an early check in via email, the receptionist had not arranged it for us. They also had nowhere to store our luggage and weren’t the friendliest of staff. The room itself had no toilet or shower, and the window would not open. Thus, the room was incredibly claustrophobic. There was a communal toilet and shower, in which on one occasion I was locked into because the lock is stiff. Overall, we had an extremely poor experience in this hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again. But I would look at hotels in a similar location.

Great location to discover the town. In the historical centre, pedestrian area so very nice feeling. Very charming old building. However if travelling with heavy suitcases and babies/little children some things to take into consideration: there is no parking as hotel is located in a pedestrian/deliveries only area of town (check with hotel reception though if drop off is available?) which is busy with bars and restaurants at night, so it can be noisy if sleeping with open windows in a hot summer (like this year!) as there was no AC in rooms, there was no fridge in our room either and the stair cases are steep. Saying that , the staff was very friendly and very accommodating. Room and bathroom very clean. We were offered a free breakfast for the kids having to wait to get our keys! I would recommend the venue for young couples travelling light, weekenders or those wanting to be close from the action!

I stayed here for 2 nights, paid up front. Without a doubt, the worst place Ive ever stayed (and ive NEVER complained about anywhere before in my life!). It was grubby, and the shower was taped together, but it was functional so i was willing to put up with it for a couple of nights. But it was so SO noisy thanks to bars outside that I didnt get to sleep unto 4am. When I asked the (initially friendly) owner if I could perhaps be moved to a different room, he absolutely lost it - it was bizarre, and as a single female travelling alone, incredibly intimidating and humiliating - it culminated him shouting BOOHOO BOOHOO as I stood in front of him flabbergasted. I would never, ever stay here again, and couldnt advise against it more strongly.

We stayed at the hotel twice on a trip, both times for a single night. The hotel is very central, and is an excellent location for the harbour and local shops and bars. The first night we had a top floor room, which was up a super steep 4 flights of stairs (no lift), especially with 3 suitcases! The first nights room was hot and stuffy (no aircon, just a fan) and very basic. The problem is, that if you want and breeze/fresh air, you have to open the windows, meaning its really loud until 3/4am being right in the centre of nightlife. The second night we had a room on a lower floor, it was far more spacious, but had the same problems as the previous room. The beds were very comfy though! on the whole, the hotel is located perfectly for la rochelle, and was very clean. The owner seemed a nice chap too. Room had No tea/coffee making etc. and cannot complain about the cleanliness. Breakfast was 10 euros a head I think, but to be honest, you are right in the middle, so get out in the morning and enjoy a cheaper breakfast while watching the boats in the harbour!
