The Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel is celebrated by guests for its spacious, well-appointed rooms and chic atmosphere, enhanced by modern amenities. Its prime location is a boon for those keen to explore the attractions of Aix-en-Provence on foot. The hotel's amenities, including a pool and spa, are generally appreciated, although there are some concerns about crowding and maid service.
While the service is lauded for being efficient and professional, there are sporadic reports of it being less than prompt. Cleanliness is highly rated, despite occasional housekeeping misses, and opinions on value vary.

We had such a delightful stay at this Marriott property! In fact, on this European adventure consisting of 3 countries and 3 Marriott properties in 2 different countries, each has been spectacular! So much better than some of the best experiences we’ve had at Marriott properties in the US! Each location has provided great service, great concierge suggestions, assistance, and guidance and nicely maintained rooms and property. Check-in was a smooth and very helpful experience… It was provided by a pleasant gentleman who was efficient and provided all the information we needed to know about the property, spa, and restaurant. We were upgraded to a nice king room with a balcony on the top floor, which was very nice.
The room was large enough for our 4 larger pieces of luggage to be open, to live from, while still offering hanging space inside closets. The bathroom area was interesting, but what was odd was that they never gave us new bar soap… why?!? We heard from others we knew staying here who had this same issue, even after asking for a replacement. Otherwise, housekeeping did a nice job keeping the room fresh and stocked during our stay. Plus, they offer turndown service. The two concierge were worked with were outstanding! One was a lady, the other was Saif. She offered a great suggestion for dinner on our first night (it was Le Ramus). Saif was outstanding, as he went out of his way to help us find affordable ways to get to/from Marseille one of our day trips and then to the airport on our last day to fly out. The car service they provide is excellent as well and cheaper than the rates I got form Uber! If you are looking to book a trip to Aix-en-provence, stay here and contact Saif ahead of time and he will not only put together an amazing itinerary for you, he’ll book all your reservations (all that’s he able) too! He has a lengthy and very knowledgeable background about most all of Europe and this can be very helpful when planning your visit!!
The property is located within a few minutes walk of the bus depot in one direction, and the Rotunde in the old, historic city area, in the opposite direction. There are many shops and amazing cafés, restaurants in the older district, definitely check it out! There are many places to stop and dine, as well and top level shopping all very close! They have a big pool, which looks nice, a spa, and a couple of places to eat on property as well.
We would most definitely return and stay here again!

Overall we had a great stay at the Renaissance. We loved the modern room with its air conditioning *nearly* (though not quite) up to US standards. We loved the pool and spa (you can swim laps against the current in the indoor pool) and the proximity to the center of town. We loved the kid menu at the pool - even if it was a little pricy at 20 euro it was delicious and included a good meal, a handmade kids spritz and a bowl of fruit.
But there were glitches for sure.
First and foremost - our erroneously programmed wake up call at 4:25 am. It ruined a night of sleep on vacation for the 4 of us and their response (after escalating to their guest services manager) was to give us a bar of lavender soap and a voucher for 2 cocktails. When you pay these prices you deserve a guaranteed night of sleep!
Also, the pool seats and the pool can get crowded, and the pool is not quite cold enough for 95 degree days (perhaps no pool would be though!)
Finally, the maid service and turn down service was simultaneously reliable and incompetent. They showed up every day and cleaned thoroughly *BUT* they took our hand soap and didn’t replace it, they took the extra sheet we requested every day and never replaced it, and they never gave us a 2nd body lotion. They were clearly a hardworking team but maybe they’d benefit from a simple checklist?

A Wonderfully Resort in a Great Location This was an excellent choice for Aix town and a great spot to take daily Olympic trips to Marseille. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff with excellent English if you are not French speaking. Our upgraded room had a tiny but functional balcony. The bed divine. Bathroom spacious , extra toilette amenities , water dispenser on floor, quiet, walk to Aix and the Aix Routière is a 5 min walk. The 49 , 50, and 51 buses go regularly to Marseille for our Olympic Sailing events. The buffet breakfast is excellent to start your day. Did not use the pool but it looked relaxing. I would have given this property 5 stars except for the poorly functioning “ AC” which was inadequate to cool our room. We think it’s an issue because we saw standing
fans coming out of other top floor rooms. It was very hot in August and AC ( for us is essential to sleep at night) . That’s my only complaint. We contacted the reception and they sent maintenance to the room but never resolved. The ground floor and restaurant were chilled so not sure of the issue. It’s a great location With many upscale amenities .

We are regulars, this is our 4th stay and the experience is superb each time! The rooms are comfortable! Our little boy was surprised to have an activity bag on his bed and products especially for him in the bathroom. Thank you for this kind attention! The indoor pool is very popular (28 degree water) and not very popular. The children have reserved beaches but the spa staff is very flexible, we were able to get in early. Hamam also, fitness room. The hotel restaurant is excellent with impeccable service. Breakfast is quality, homemade and varied products. Special mention to the valets present this weekend very friendly. Everything was perfect! Small flat on room 503 that shows signs of old age (broken earthenware in the bathroom, baseboards soaked in moisture ) and cleaning done succinctly (vacuum cleaner not passed ) but that didn’t stop us from loving our stay and coming back very soon!

We had booked the Christmas package with the New Year's Eve meal, night and breakfast and we were received like VIPs... we were able to take advantage of the hotel and its services: very friendly valet, at reception, fabulous person who We were given the cards before 3 p.m. to install our luggage and freshen up before going to enjoy the city center, a 5-minute walk away. On our return, we went to the hotel swimming pool and sauna, which were perfectly fine. As for the Atmosph’r restaurant… little hiccup of forgotten resa but the chef seated us on a table in the snap of a finger even though the restaurant was full. The Christmas menu was absolutely divine (well done to the kitchen), the service was once again extraordinary (a big thank you to Cédric for his professionalism). On Christmas morning we were also able to enjoy treatments at the spa where Marine welcomed us in the best possible way and a fantastic facial treatment…. In short, an idyllic Christmas stay, the hotel deserved its stars and the staff are fabulous The last check-in at 1 p.m. allowed us to take advantage of preparing our luggage in peace. A great place to enjoy Aix

Great, smooth check-in by lovely, efficient receptionist, sorry missed her name. Delicious breakfast with fresh juice, egg station, warm pastries etc. Room was good with modern bathroom and walk in shower. Would have thought there would be usb points for chargers as had forgotten adapters, however, reception lent me one so not a big issue. We liked the pool area, never had to fight for sun beds or towels; my only comment is that access to the pool was difficult, especially for elderlies, would have been so much safer to have a hand rail installed. Great location, easy walk to the plentiful restaurants and bars in beautiful Aix en Provence.

We are having a great time at this hotel. It is a really family friendly hotel. Our room has a diaper bin (which we don’t get in most hotels). Our stay has been over Christmas holidays and we have really appreciated the small touches. Our room has a decorated tree and our child got a Christmas present from Santa. The staff has been extremely helpful and courteous. We also like that the hotel has an indoor heated pool to keep our little one occupied. A special thank you to Melvin at the concierge and Mokhtar at the restaurant.

You could think it’s a 5 star hotel considering the prices of the rooms and drinks (8€ a Coke…) but it doesn’t provide the 5 star quality you’re entitled to expect.
Broken mirror in the bathroom, never replaced, AC broke for 3 nights and has never been fixed back to normal afterwards (during a big heatwave). No compensation offered. Nothing.
The service is the worse. You need to ask everything 3 times, you wait 45min at the restaurant only to place your order, one of the cook serves eggs like the picture attached…
Only tourists seem to go there, the locals only use the pool.
Go somewhere else if you’re looking for a 5 star hotel.

Response from Renaissance Hotel, General Manager at Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel
Responded Jul 21, 2023
Dear Renefilou We always want our guests to have the most comfortable stay possible, so we are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time at our hotel. On July 11th, we experienced some technical issues with our AC. Please be aware that the issue has now been fixed and the AC works properly. We regret to find out with your message on tripadvisor that you experienced so many unpleasant events. If our team had been informed, we would have made sure that your expectations were fully met. Please do not hesitate in the future to let us know immediately when something is not at your expectation level, so we can fix it right away. I would suggest our guests to find out by themselves the kindness and dedication of our team to provide the best experience at the Renaissance Aix en Provence hotel to our guests. Best regards,

The Renaissance is located a 10-15 min walk from the Town Center where you will find dozens of restaurants (maybe hundreds), cafes, gelato shops, and stores. It is easy to walk from the hotel to the the car rental office (Sixt-it’s the only one), and to many museums and sites. The rooms are very large. It s not easy to find a hotel in Aix with king sized beds but the Renaissance has it! The beds are extremely comfortable as are the duvets. Housekeeping provided me immediately with the extra pillows and towels that I requested. The bathrooms are quite nice, the shower is very large. One thing to know before you go is that there are no USB ports in the room. I brought along 3 adapters that changes the 2 prong European outlet to a 2 prong USA outlet. They each had 2 USB ports. The front desk kindly lent me another adapter. But if you travel with many devices, make sure to bring your own adapters. We had 2 tablets, 2 phones, 2 backup phone chargers, and a computer with additional external devices. And now about the service. The front desk and concierges were so kind, so knowledgable and so gracious. As mentioned above, the helped us with out tech issues, they helped us with getting in and out of the underground garage always with a smile and a wonderful attitude. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. The wait staff and the staff at the desk of the restaurant were so accommodating, had wonderful personalities and really aimed to please in every way. Our waiter remembered us after the first breakfast and greeted us warmly on every day thereafter. He even remembered which was “our table” and our breakfast order! I highly recommend this hotel both for its location, the large rooms, and for the excellent service the staff provides for it’s guests.

After a few years I returned to this hotel a short walk from the center Courteous staff, valet service for cars, large, well-furnished room for three people. I put a dot less for the cost of the mini bar I come from a holiday in Spain where I stayed in 4/5 star hotels like this and the mini bar indicated 2 euros for water, 3 cokes or beer. Here 9 euros coca cola and 7 euros water. Accepts all credit cards

I was there in March and there was no onsite testing for USA return. Most likely the airport has one. You can order a test to take with you that complies with regulations from City Health. It’s cheaper and you get to do the whole thing from the comforts of your hotel room.
