Loyal customers for more than 20 years. The hotel, ideally located in the historic center of Arles, completely renovated, has welcoming, comfortable, quiet rooms. Some rooms overlook the beautiful garden, others the Roman amphitheatre or the beautiful arenas. Breakfast in the garden, in the shade of the huge hackberry tree, is hearty and delicious. The hotel restaurant is nice. The welcome of the owners and their team is relaxed, warm and efficient. It feels really good.

Everything was very nice and everyone was wonderful and helpful. Would stay there again. You have to call them in order to get through the roads for the taxi to get to the hotel. You can leave your suitcases there until you are leaving the town.

Though we stayed only one night here in Arles, this stay was the most historical of all the nine stays on this tour. With deluxe rooms overlooking the ancient theatre and colosseum, we could feel the history of two thousand years. Yet, despite the importance of the two monuments, we were never bothered with people noise. We didn't take the included breakfast, but the formula breakfast was only 6.9E each and sufficient. The Rick Steves tour group stayed here and monopolized the dining room but left soon and together. We stayed in the main building with no elevator -- #4. Room was large, clean, view, and CNN available on the TV. The nighttime clerk made us early morning coffee. This stay is the perfect location with a friendly staff and fair tariff, but no lift.

We chose this hotel based on Rick Steve's recommendation and loved it. It's right in the heart of the old city of Arles. Our room was spotless, the staff were friendly, and their breakfast buffet spread was a treat. It's right next to the Roman era Colloseum. We enjoyed drinks on their patio that faces the Plaza. Parking is easy. There is a city parking garage about 10 minutes walk away and you get a discounted rate from the hotel with in-out privileges when going out to sight see.

The location was excellent, the room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, the courtyard was lovely, and the restaurant was good (we had breakfast). They provide reusable bottles of water that you can refill at the bar. I would stay there again.

We had a great stay at the Calendal, which is perfectly located right next to the Arena and within walking discuss of tons of great restaurants and adorable shops.
The room, bed, pillows, etc. were all comfortable.
We LOVED the sauna, which is small but perfect for an hour of relaxation (and has a view of the arena). As they limit access to three rooms per hour, the sauna is quiet and private.
The hotel has a bar/restaurant with seating in a private, shaded garden or on the sunny terrace – great for soaking up the last rays of sun with a very reasonably priced glass of wine. There's also a rooftop bar, which was closed during our stay in May.
Huge thanks to the fabulous staff who go out of their way to make your experience a delight!

I encountered this hotel during lunch while visiting Arles for the photography festival and was blown away by the friendly service and incredible location. Coming back to stay with my husband a month later, the hotel exceeded expectations. We had a daily continental breakfast watching the world go by; the restaurant breakfast looked brilliant too and was popular. The garden area was a welcome surprise, while the spa saved us during exceptionally hot weather - it was a delight to relax and cool down there daily. Room spotless, not the largest but great value. Cannot be faulted. We plan to return soon.

We stayed here 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cecile and her husband (the owners) are very friendly and helpful, as are the entire staff. The beautiful garden and courtyard in back is a cool oasis from the busy pedestrian street in front. Breakfast was better than most places in France.
Our room was of average size and the bathroom was small and oddly arranged with a step up into it and the tub/shower. Bed was comfortable. Best part was the narrow balcony with an amazing view of the Roman arena. Air con was necessary during our hot stay.
The place is difficult to get to on arrival; we parked in the central garage (discounted with stay at hotel), but the elevator was out of service and we had to carry our bags up a bunch of stairs. It’s also quite uphill outside the garage to the hotel. We recommend dropping your bags at the car barrier 2 short blocks from the hotel and then parking your car in the garage. That’s how we left the hotel and it was far easier.
We recommend staying here; the nearby restaurants are great (hotel staff will reserve).

Excellent hotel, very friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms, very cozy, with large plaques, very comfortable spaces and nice decoration. In the bathroom you can find excellent organic local products for personal care, with a fragrance of lavender that lasts on the skin. I would buy them from being for sale!
The magnificent location, a few meters from La Arena de Arles, with tables on the sidewalk that allow you to have breakfast or drink with that incredible view. It also has a very nice rooftop.
It really feels like a 3+ star hotel. There are 4 star hotels that do not have such good service. Although it does not have a minibar as soon as you arrive they offer you a large bottle of fresh water and available to get more in the bar during the stay.
We will certainly be back on a future visit. Fully recommended.
A separate mention was the gesture they had to contact us as soon as we withdrew to warn us that our daughter’s teddy had been forgotten in the room and offered to mail it to our destination, although fortunately it was not necessary as we returned to look for it the next day.
I also stress the kindness to the children and the details they have with them.

Centrally located, ultra friendly staff and great breakfast, lunch and dinner (yes, we tried all three) if one is too exhausted to go out for a meal, the restaurant offers many, many different choices to sit, so if you happen to be there when a group rolls in (as we were, with a Rick Steves tour), it still is not crowded.
The only thing I would recommend is to ask for a room off the street. On our first night there was a concert for teenagers at the Roman Arena (Amphithéâtre), that continued until 11:30 pm. Since our room faced the street and we tend to be early risers, we weren’t too pleased, and the hotel couldn’t accommodate a room change. Fortunately there were no other concerts during our stay.
Oh, and one more thing: expect lots of stairs! We did not consider this a mark against the hotel since we believe stairs keep us young. We are 68 and 78 years old, from Portland, Oregon.

Thank you ! We are so thankful that you have been able to live the full Calendal experience !! There are indeed stairs and many different views that you may benefit of, depending on availability. When there are concerts, we try to avoid having anyone overlooking the theatre, as we understand you have not asked for a concert in your room !! We look forward welcoming you another time. We stayed there last spring and it was excellent in all respect. Nice rooms with inter courtyard, service tres bien, location could not be better. If I was staying in Arles that is where I would. We have stayed in other hotels in Arles that were very nice, but Hotel le Calendal is our favorite. Also restaurant La Pergula just a few steps from the Hotel is excellent.
