Directly across from the Palace of the Popes, this historic hotel is a great choice for Avignon...IF you can find it! Arriving on the TGV we elected to bring ourselves and our heavy luggage via taxi and then return the following day to rent our car. This was an excellent choice as you will see from my photo of the...

We stopped for tea. It was elegant and quiet.. (It was in April little before the crowds.) Great place to stop for an escape from the crowds. The court yard is completely surrounded by the hotel. Would stay there if I make it back to Avignon.

We rented a car from the TGV and drove into Avignon. We missed our first turn and it took us an hour to finally find this hotel. After all that frustration it was worth it. The staff is lovely and helpful. The room is comfortable and large. They do charge 25E a day for parking, which is a bit much....

This gem is located by the Pope's palace and was once where they resided. We were greeted by the manager who showed us around giving us the historical review of each section and the furnishings. It is quite pricey but worth it. We stayed in the newer section with a large bath including shower and tub with double sinks. We...

From the minute you arrive, Francis & the rest of staff know your name & give you Tour of La Mirande. The fact that a former bishop resided there many centuries ago makes it even more appealing. Our Room was beautifully appointed & loved the big bathroom. double sinks, bathtub & separate shower. The lovely view of Popes Palace was...

Just noticed we never posted a review for this stunning hotel. We stayed back in August 2005 but it is hard to imagine that much has changed. The decor was beautiful and the service was exceptional. The hotel even made a special pasta dinner for our 2 year old in their Michelin-starred restaurant. And none of the patrons batted an...

What an exceptional establishment La Mirande is!!!!!!! The service was incredible. The room was totally delightful with a view overlooking the garden and a view of the Palais des Papes. Stunning, especially at night when the Palais des Papes was lit up. The quality of the bed , linen and all the furnishings made for a very comfortable stay. So...

Art is the theme in this former home of the cardinals, when Avignon hosted the papacy during the 14th century. Parts of the building date back to this period but the overall look is 18th century neo-classical. La Mirande’s public rooms, from the 17th century Red Salon to the vaulted intimacy of the 14th century subterranean informal dining room, impart...

It is very beautiful and special place. Located right next to Pope’s Palace. To get there it is quite an adventure – all the roads in town are one way and gets extremely narrow – so follow carefully directions which hotel gives. Everything in the hotel is original, with history and in great shape. It is like to be in...

The hotel is as you would expect - great. The stay was made even better by the people. Friendly and courteous from the front desk through to the breakfast staff. Rather than having an air of authority which often comes with a hotel at this rate they were very down to earth and gave the impression they actually cared.
