The Hôtel Royal Westminster Vacances Bleues is often commended for its cleanliness and charming atmosphere, featuring spacious rooms that boast stunning sea views and comfortable beds, though some guests feel the room amenities could be improved. Nestled in a prime location, the establishment is a stone's throw from the beach and city center, a highlight for many travelers. While the service receives positive remarks for the staff's warmth and professionalism, mixed opinions surface regarding the value and meal service timing.

A short week spent in this hotel and almost nothing but compliments to be paid for this 3 star hotel occupying a very beautiful 19th century building of character...
The location is exceptional, set back from the road, with a very pleasant garden where you can have a quiet breakfast or dinner.
Our room, spacious, simply and well furnished, well maintained, with a beautiful bathroom, had a sumptuous view of the sea... a joy in the morning when you wake up by opening the curtains (and the front row seats for the fire fireworks on August 15!).
The beach is right in front of the hotel, on the other side of the road and in the morning, before 9am, it was almost deserted allowing you to swim peacefully before having breakfast (the quality of it being the only small downside explaining the 4 stars that I give, in particular the cold meats and cheeses, a little disappointing given that we are right next to Italy... the price could be increased a little and the quality improved) .
The restaurant's menu is simple but the dishes are very good and we had dinner there several times and lunch once, all in a peaceful atmosphere.
The restaurant team (manager and staff) is very friendly, professional and attentive.
The clientele was particularly calm, elderly people clearly on holiday, couples of middle-aged tourists from diverse backgrounds... a very pleasant overall harmony.
I have rarely slept so well in a hotel where I immediately felt at home.
This establishment deserves the highest praise.

Upon arrival the receptionist was warm polite and very nice, we accessed our room and there we were under the spell.
A clean and pretty room, a large and very comfortable bed, a superb view of the sea and especially the sound of waves perceptible even in broad daylight despite the ambient traffic noises, in fact the sea covered the noise of cars that we could not hear it was quite extraordinary.
Then we went out into town, not without taking some pictures of the hotel which is really beautiful to look at from the street, the same hotel which seems to be very luxurious and very old, many passers-by took pictures of it because it is so prestigious with its garden, flags and façade that sends a luxurious message.
Two entrances of which proposed, one on the city side and the other on the sea side enjoying a garden and a minute deposit for the entrance on the sea side.
We were won over by this hotel even if we must admit, everything was not perfect... our dinner could not take place at the hotel because the restaurant closed around 9pm while we were Saturday night and we would have liked to have dinner on site, the prices were very correct and the menu very attractive, but we finally dined in town in a restaurant very nice but whose dishes were horrible and pretentious but that is not the subject, we would have preferred to have dinner at the hotel to stay in our little bubble...
The night went very well, lulled by the sound of the waves because we slept with the window open to listen to the sea despite the month of November, not to deprive ourselves of the exceptional.
In the morning for breakfast the choices were multiple, from the salty to the sweet of the natural, everything was there or almost, the only downside was the resentment of being unwelcome in this place where all the customers are left to themselves and have to manage with what is there... no one to guide us to propose us or even to rid the trays that began to take place on the tables already not available compared to the number of customers present, not to mention all the dishes that had been taken and necessarily that were no longer available, scrambled eggs, chocolate rolls, dry sausage, sausages, in short there was a little lack of everything and no one in sight to remedy this, how to spoil a beautiful day if not by botching breakfast?
In short, a splendid and ideally located hotel deserves an extra star after various catering courses offered to staff who are obviously not aware of the exceptional place that is this hotel and the always top services they must offer all year round in November because everyone has the right to an unforgettable stay and the hotel is the point of departure and the place of life of a stay.
We will come back anyway to relive this weekend better I hope..

Everything is good! We have the privilege rooms with lots of space. The toilets are separate, which is good. The bathroom with rain shower is also good and pleasant. There are only French channels on TV, apart from the ZDF Info channel and a few other channels, for example ARTE. The breakfast is fine, you are you France, there is a baguette with three types of jam and honey every day, and a nut cream. There is also toast and some hearty egg, bratwurst.
Oh, there is also yoghurt in various variations, melons, etc. but the breakfast is really the same every day, there is definitely no variety. For us, however, it is the nicest hotel in Menton, everything was perfect. Also of course the location right on the beach, you can't hear the road at all on the beach itself, you only hear the sound of the waves, which is also pleasant on vacation. We went there by car and also visited the larger cities such as Nice Monaco, Crasse, Cannes, Sanremo.
The Cote d'Azur is and remains one of the most beautiful seas and was fun again. Rooms were cleaned regularly and the bed made. There is a supermarket right opposite the hotel for all your daily needs, which was really convenient. You just had to walk across the street to the back of the hotel. Parking is available on the beach promenade or at the back of the hotel, there is also an underground car park nearby, which costs around €13 a day. I can recommend this hotel.

The front reception staff was excellent - friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious, with two small balconies overlooking the courtyard garden and the Promenade du Soleil waterfront street of cafes, and of course the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. We could see and hear the waves hitting the beach and it was wonderful. The location of the hotel is perfect with shops on one side and the lovely waterfront promenade on the other, and just minutes to the pedestrian only old town area. With an entrance on both sides, you couldn't find a more convenient or better location in Menton. Breakfast was great and served in a large sunny room with walls of windows, or you could sit outside. Our room had a large walk-in closet, separate toilet and shower area with a towel warmer that actually worked, large sofa and besides the two balconies (one with bistro table and chairs), an inside sitting area with two chairs. If you're renting a car, the garage is very close by - almost next door, always had spaces (in winter), and the hotel has a temporary parking area for you to unload your bags before parking. Great price for all the amenities. This is classified as a 3 star, but should be a 4 star. We loved everything about the hotel and will be back.

The location of the hotel is fantastic and the architecture of the building is also fantastic and with some investment the hotel could be one of the nicest in Menton. Obviously that will come at huge expense! The hotel is located on the beach front and has great access to the beach and the main entrance is located on the main high street of Menton with lots of bars restaurants and shops on your door step which is ideal for exploring Menton. The staff at the hotel all speak very good English and are very helpful, in particular Sandra who works on reception. The rooms are spacious and the bed was comfortable we had a sea view room which was lovely view over the Mediterranean. There was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We asked for this and it was provided, without hesitation. It’s pretty standard to have this in your room, this could be a potential improvement opportunity. There was no iron in the room, but there is an ironing room which was ok but the ironing boards were very small and the iron was similar to a small travel iron. But it done the job.
We had breakfast at the hotel and there was a good continental choice. It did feel a little bit like being in a canteen with plastic trays. But the food was nice enough and the staff replenished the food. We had an issue with the balcony not being cleaned (broken glass) very thoroughly and brought this to the management attention and the issue was resolved. Obviously it could have resulted in serious incident. The hotel manager was very concerned and understanding.

Overall I would stay at the hotel again. With some investment it has huge potential.

Thanks Marc and Louise

My husband and I had been to the Riviera a few times and having already stayed in Cannes and Nice, we decided to check out Menton. There weren’t a lot of hotels to choose from and we thought the Royal Westminster seemed nice… it was not “nice.” It’s in a great location right on the beach and a short walk to shopping and the old town area. That’s the best thing I can say for it.

The hotel itself is a bit decrepit. There are stains all over the walls and carpeting. The elevator is slow and there is only one. The rooms are not cleaned well and often not at all. When we first arrived we were given a smoking room. We had specifically requested a non smoking room because I am severely asthmatic. When I went to the desk to complain they rolled their eyes and said it’s just a smell and I’d get used to it. I had to show them my inhaler before they took me seriously. They moved us to a room that had not been cleaned. It was disgusting. This time my husband went to complain and we were given a room that was cleaner but also very small. The carpeting was stained all over. The room had a musty smell. It was so cramped with our luggage that we couldn’t keep our suitcases open to have room to move. The bathroom only came with a shower/body wash combo. No lotion or other toiletries. The whole thing was dingy. There is no parking or pool and the restaurant did not look appetizing. If all you want is the beach it’s fine. However, I’m pale and can’t be out in the sun for long periods and the hotel was anything but relaxing.

When we booked our stay it wasn’t cheap and we were very frustrated. We decided that if we could get a refund we would book another hotel. So we went to the front desk. They told us the manager would be out until Monday (it was Friday right after 5) and nothing could be done until then. We even had AmEx try to negotiate with them and they were told the same thing. We were leaving Tuesday so we decided to just stick it out. We ended up purchasing a day spa/pool/restaurant pass for a hotel in Monte Carlo and spending as little time as possible in the room. It wasn’t a relaxing end to our long vacation and I would highly recommend you consider what you want from a hotel before booking here.

The hotel is very well located, on the one hand on a main street and on the other hand on the promenade which runs along the sea; it also benefits from a very beautiful garden.
The breakfast was very good and the restaurant staff very nice. The only negative point from this point of view was that there was only one coffee machine at lunchtime and therefore you had to queue.
The problem arose in the bedroom. Upon arrival, the room was not so clean that I had to point it out. I stayed in this hotel from December 19 to 26, 2023 and therefore had to spend the Christmas holidays there and in particular New Year's Eve on December 24. For this purpose, I had bought a few days before leaving, a pair of new pumps which I wore twice in the hotel, the last time for dinner on December 24. On the morning of December 25, in preparation for my departure on December 26, I already packed my things in my suitcase, leaving the pumps out of the suitcase in order to wear them in the evening, for the dinner which was reserved for the hotel. Except that in the evening, the shoes had disappeared. During the entire stay, these shoes never left the hotel going from my room to the restaurant. On December 26, I notified the reception, two different people were able to notice that these shoes were not in my luggage and also not in my room. I received no coherent explanation and had to leave the hotel without my shoes, which cost me 199 euros. This is a very unpleasant experience for me.

The hotel is as previously described, a lovely old building with a garden with palm trees at the front, which is illuminated after dark. Our Privilege room was large with two french doors, one opening onto a balcony, which contained 2chairs and a round metal table - which became boiling hot in the sun! The balcony is only about a meter wide and not very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, but the duvet used was far too hot for summer use. The wardrobe had 20 hangers, a large hanging space, a small fridge and a safe, but no separate drawer space apart from 1 in the dressing table. The bathroom had a large shower and wash basin, but the toilet was in a separate room in the passage by the door which we found inconvenient during the night. The hair dryer was in the corner next to the wash basin and impossible to use. O.K for a man but for a woman to use brushes etc when drying hair an impossibility. The rooms are kept very clean every day. We had breakfast and dinner included in booking price. Breakfast was exactly the same every day - very boring. Didn't try the cooked eggs and bacon? It looked horrible. The room was bright and airy, but people eating outside were plagued with pigeons on the tables. Our only real complaint was the evening meal. On the first evening we were told where to sit and had to stay at this table all week. The menu for the evening was displayed outside the restaurant each evening. It was written in French only, no English or any other language. There was no choice given. The menu was explained at the table before we started. If we didn't like something we were sometimes offered an alternative. By the last evening we couldn't face this performance again so after a lot of explanation and fuss we managed to order from the dinnertime menu, but had to sit apart from the other diners. The busy road outside spoils the area, lots of motor bikes, scooters and cars. No proper crossings for pedestrians. There are stripes on the road, but no crossing lights or anything. You just have to step out and hope they stop! We enjoyed Menton, but wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Charming hotel of the Belle Époque, privileged location, it feels like being invited on the Riviera at the beginning of the last century, outdoor parking is easy (except lemon festival) but paid
Pleasant staff, cleanliness, this is the main thing
Small flats, varied breakfast, hearty, but standardized and of somewhat industrial quality
No personalised welcome toiletries , economies of scale require for a hotel group
Our little dog was admitted

An excellent hotel. The position is good - opposite the beach and although there is a road in between, the hotel is set back behind nice gardens, and the traffic moves slowly. Access to the town is just a short stroll away and there are an excellent range of restaurants along the sea front. The public areas of the hotel are large, light and airy and air conditioned. We had a large room with a good view of the sea. Furnishings were comfortable although a little sparse. Buffet breakfast was good and replenished regularly. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and well maintained.
