We arrived in Nice in the early afternoon and were able to walk to the Hotel Solara from the rail station (all downhill) in about 20 minutes. It is on a busy pedestrian only thoroughfare near the heart of the city and not hard to find. It definitely has a "beam me up Scottie" elevator that gets you easily up...

We planned to stay for three nights and got a connecting room so that our 3- and 4-year olds could sleep in a separate bedroom. When we went to check on them before going to bed ourselves, they were bitten by wall- and bedbugs all over. As the lights were out, these little bugs were everywhere, and we spent the...

Excellent location on rue de France, one block from the beach/Promenade des Anglais, steps away from rue Massena which is literally lined with cafes and shops, easy walk to la Place Massena, Cours Saleya and Old Nice. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean and the bathrooms are brand new and quite large by France standards (you can actually...

The wife and I stayed at this family run hotel for 5 nights on our first visit to Nice. The rooms are small, but clean, and the bathrooms are newly refurbished. Our room on the fifth floor had a balcony, where we could enjoy our continental breakfast, overlooking the pedestrianized area of Rue de France. The staff are very friendly...

We stayed here 4 nites before leaving for Paris. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the quiet residental area behind the main street. Our room was small but clean, The bathroom has been newly renovated and very nice. Our only complaint (minor) was the lack of an English speeking tv station in the room but there is free...

Hotel Solara is basic but very clean and in a good location. The staff are very helpful and friendly and speak English. We had a room at the front of the hotel and although it was nice to have a view over the street it was extremely noisy in the night when the rubbish from cafes was collected. I would...

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and found it to be excellent value. Having stayed in Nice before we kinda knew our way around and this time picked the Solara in order to get a balcony at a reasonable price. We were allocated Room no. 7 which is at the back of the hotel and seems to have...

The best thing about this hotel was its air conditioning. It was quite hot and humid in Nice during my visit. The location was pretty good too, only 100m from the beach and a fifteen minute walk to the main train station. The staff were friendly and helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Nice. The...

Stepping out of this hotel, you are instantly thrown into one of Nice's busiest roads, full of pizzerias, boulangeries and just a quick walk on to the Promenade and beach. The location was superb. And what about the hotel? Well, it has its ups and downs...unlike the lift during our stay! (Yes, it was working, but we didn't want to...
