Situated in the scenic domain of Marlioz, the Mercure Aix-les-Bains Domaine de Marlioz – Hôtel & Spa offers a mixed experience. Guests commend the hotel for its cleanliness and the spacious, airy rooms with pleasant balconies, although some have pointed out signs of wear. The atmosphere is appreciated for its soundproofing, contributing to a tranquil stay.
However, some travelers feel the value doesn't match the price, citing overpriced items and underwhelming room features. While the spa and pools stand out as highlights, service quality appears inconsistent, with instances of unprofessionalism marring the experience for some guests.

4-night stay in a privileged double room. The room is good, with its small balcony. We had deplorable weather so unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to really enjoy it, however I regret that the table and chairs are in very average condition, this is not up to par with the interior of the room. Good soundproofing, and comfort in accordance with Mercure standards. We dined one evening at the hotel's Brasserie Flõ, we found the menu quite short but all the more restricted as there were not several dishes available, and we were informed at the time from taking the order and not that we were given the menu, which is a shame, it was the same for dessert... The food was good though. We took the opportunity to ask for the welcome drink that was offered to us, usually hotels offer it to each person in the room, so two drinks but in this one there is no generosity, it is one and full stop, we so we paid the other one. Disappointment at breakfast, where 3 times out of 4 the buffet was empty, even when we asked for things, we were told that it happened but it never was the case. We understand that we don't want to waste but frankly at the price of breakfast it wasn't great, the praline brioches were still cold because they had certainly come out of the freezer too late but cut into slices to try to speed up defrosting, more small pastries but even more bread. And this while arriving more than an hour before the end of breakfast... Even though the hotel was clearly very full and people were still arriving well after us. We made the remark at check-out, a commercial gesture was made but it's a shame... And unfortunately the computer system was down at the time of our departure, so we could not pay with the Dining & Spa vouchers because this can only be done physically, we were told when they called us back in the afternoon. Positive opinion for the rooms, we did not go to the Spa, tried the gym because it was raining and the carpet was broken, too bad once again, and mixed opinion on the brasserie service and breakfast.

Mercure - free parking, safe, shampoo and hand soap, quiet in a green forest, crazy park with sports facilities, spa from the movies, the highlight: 2 heated pools (indoor + outdoor) + wet sauna 2 rooms + jacuzzi, small gym, tea and water Free, tea set with kettle in the room, robes and towels free. We were upgraded to a large room with a terrace with a view of the forest and it was really comfortable including a large bed with 2 pillows per person, a refrigerator with a gift bottle of water, large armchairs (there was a shower cap missing, tops, etc.) separate shower and toilet! A rich French breakfast without vegetables but there was fruit, an excellent chef's dinner, we took half board and it's really worth it and recommended! Reservation three days in advance for a one-night stay (and two rooms) over a weekend! Icy, unfriendly welcome, no information about the hotel and no upgrade (even though privilege rooms are available). I am then told that our standard rooms are “made up” as privilege rooms, implying that all the equipment is there. Surprising since the bedding is supposed to be different in the Privilege room! The same concerns the absence of a coffee machine, the absence of additional products in the bathroom (body lotion, etc.)... This is therefore not an upgrade!
A little welcome touch in the room, thank you! Large room, view of the park. Pleasant bathroom and separate WC. Beautiful view of the park.
SPA with a lot of people and closed pools... I am told that the star pool is under maintenance and that the main outdoor pool (which is still clearly highlighted on the website) is closed until 11/11. When I indicated that, having made the reservation three days before, it would be nice to specify this on the website, I was not very kindly told that "it's not our fault, it's a technical problem". . This had nothing to do with my remark which just invited the establishment to be transparent...
So I tell the receptionist about this upgrade issue and the closed SPA equipment. He tells me that I was not upgraded because there was no availability: this is false, rooms are available for sale. He apologizes and finally comes back a few minutes later offering to upgrade a room. Too bad this was not done on arrival, but thank you for the very pleasant and professional care (Mathieu). So we forgot this little problem!
Welcome drink for one person. Bar experience not exceptional, nice menu but lack of professionalism (15 minute wait to get the menu while the staff passes us countless times).
Very good quality breakfast for a Mercure. Local products (including cheeses, brioches, etc.). Professional service.
Late departure in difficulty until 2 p.m. by a very pleasant receptionist on the day of departure (we would have enjoyed talking with her - or with Mathieu - rather than with his colleague). The day before departure, when we make this request, this same “usual receptionist” starts looking at his computer, stops, and asks us to come back the next morning without even looking at the occupancy, in a blasé tone.
Impersonal check-out by the same person as on the day of arrival.
Overall a pleasant experience but some staff members could do with improving their communication with customers (and this is unfortunate because the negative feeling is based on their behavior). The same goes for information on the closure of installations!

Several things let this hotel down and spoilt our stay. On arrival we were charged a caution against our card which was 150% of the cost of the whole stay. We were given a voucher for a free drink, yes one free drink, what do you do sit and watch your partner drink their free drink, come on Mercure if you are going to give out free drinks make it for each adult guest in a room. The waiting staff, well the dress code was not what you would expect from a 4* hotel, jeans , white shirt and trainers! Come on we are not snobs but it would be nice to be able to tell the difference between the staff and a guest. The barman first night split both drinks when placing them on the table, we had to ask for a serviette to dry the table and glasses. The restaurant food and wine very over priced a bottle of Sauvignon 36 euros as it was poured it was split (same barman) the barman then noticed a piece of cork in the glass which was poured for tasting so he took the glass away, the glass was about 1/4 full, a new clean empty glass was then brought to the table and the wine poured, Come on mercure standard practice is “sorry sir, removal of glass and bottle and new bottle and glass brought to table” The rooms were fine laid out well the shower was a very good size, there was a problem with our bed , it appears that the beds raise to waist height for the maids to make them, ours wouldn’t go down one of the days we were there, we returned to the maid trying to get the bed to go down and lock into place, we tried to help her but the maintenance man had to be sent for so we went down to the bar to have a drink and keep out of the way for a bit , on out return the maid was still in the hallway and she apologised for the problem and said the bed was fixed, which it was. If we were to praise the hotel for anything it would be the maid, she was excellent our room was always spotless , she was always polite and the apology from her for the bed was more than what we got from the reception staff who must have been aware of the issue. There was another problem with our room which maybe would not affect everyone but the conduit for the air conditioner in the downstairs bar area went through the room near the bed and one of our party had to buy earplugs because of the noise. In all this hotel was a disappointment to us and has put us off booking another mercure hotel.

We spent a week in the hotel and we were very satisfied, the level of service is much higher than what we had experienced in a Mercure Hotel. The rooms are spacious, bright and very clean, the beds are very good with soft pillows. The housekeeping staff is very friendly and available to help (they can even teach you how to make the bed :-)). The spa is very pleasant, particularly the outdoor pool, and it is very clean, recommended around 7:00 p.m. when the crowds are less. The breakfast is varied and quality. The only downside is that the restaurant service is a little long.

Worse and worse…. Hotel that we frequent every year as a family. We stayed 3 nights. The neighboring and communicating room should have had 2 single beds, a large bed was installed there instead… Last year when we arrived we had already had a problem and the children had to sleep in a room which did not communicate with the ours despite our reservation. Housekeeping is very spartan (dead fly and hair left the 4 days of our stay) Poorly maintained, aging spa area. Restaurant to avoid!!!!!! An endless wait for flavorless dishes and a paltry quantity! A new and unprofessional team (some speaking very little or no French). Photo example of a chocolate cake brought without explanation until I asked and was told that there was no more and that it had been replaced by a cookie…. To the extent that I pay for what I eat, I also like to choose…. Obviously the cake, which in no way resembles a cookie either in taste or appearance, was not eaten. It will now be without us!

2nd visit in a few weeks. The rooms are large, airy, clean, the balcony is pleasant (no view of neighboring rooms). The park side is more pleasant than the road side (even if the soundproofing of the rooms is good); it corresponds to even rooms.
Very large hammam which needs maintenance (missing tiles and others unsealed). Pleasant indoor swimming pool, as it is neglected by customers (who prefer to crowd into the jacuzzi or the outdoor heated swimming pool). Aging fitness room (you should think about maintaining the machines which are rusting due to the proximity to the spa).
Breakfast too repetitive (every day absolutely the same services); lack of fresh fruit (either too hard or at the end of its life, no bananas just apples, kiwis and oranges), no vegetables, poor quality cold meats (shoulder rather than white ham, only accompanied by raw ham), as well as fruit juices. Bland cheeses.
Large free and secure parking lot. Allow 20 minutes to reach the city center on foot.

Having made my reservation in a hurry through the ALL.com app, I was able to finalize it without seeing a mention signifying the closure of spa and pool facilities. In the available services are always swimming pool and spa. And on the booking confirmation...includes access to the SPA and towels.(Photos) So yes, I received about ten minutes later an e-mail signifying the closure of the spa, swimming pool facilities; but not having my nose permanently on my smartphone, I only learned about it at the hotel reception. What worries me is that I can make a reservation without having this information live. I wanted a spa and I would have gone somewhere else. And as often: it's the customer the moron because he hasn't read all the pages.!!!
Otherwise Top room and very nice restaurant.

Nestled amongst the rolling green hills of Domaine de Marlioz, the environment couldn't be more tranquil. The interior design is cosy and modern. The location is both its blessing and its curse though - my husband had a race in the nearby area during our stay and took the car, which meant I had to walk 20 minutes to town. It was all a bit far from any action.
We loved our second floor Privilege room that looks out to the nature. The room itself looks newly renovated, is spacious and very clean. I think it was the first time that we had a double shower in a hotel room - what a luxury! The bed is so soft and dreamy. Fast and reliable wifi.
The spa (which consists of an indoor pool, jacuzzi and a heated outdoor pool, hammam was closed due to covid) is a nice addition though I wouldn't stay here specifically for it. Most guests are couples chilling in the spa areas so it's pretty quiet. No sight of kids anywhere. I had a body treatment which was nice but not exceptionally so.
Breakfast was good with a wide variety of hot and cold items. The hotel and staff have made huge efforts to implement all the right sanitary measures so we felt quite safe. We had a lovely stay but next time I'd probably opt for a hotel in town.

For a 4 star, a lot of neglect. We are a couple of young lovers who came to spend a weekend. Alas, there was a door in our room that opened into the next room. Poorly soundproofed since we heard the neighbors very well. Very disagreeable. Here are two rooms which should be perfect for a couple and children but unsuitable for a loving couple who do not necessarily want to share privacy with the neighborhood. Another downside: breakfast. It would be nice to have bacon without having to ask for it three times... A pleasant stay is made up of small details. For our part, we were disappointed and will not come back.
