The lady I had on the phone was very understanding, understood my embarrassment and was kind enough to cancel, less than 48 hours before the deadline, our free reservation.
Thanks again to the Saint Simond hostel for the hospitality worthy of the establishment's standing!
The hosts are very welcoming and friendly (to the small care)
We eat very well (good value for money) and the rooms are comfortable
The hostel is very well located
I recommend

Very nice and very clean room
Comfortable bedding and very large, pleasant bathroom
Perfect insulation because no noise at night
Very nice breakfast room
With lots of sweet and savory products for a complete breakfast
Very nice home
Nice exterior and closed parking

Clear traces of urine on the bed cover, door to the bed cannot be closed because the room is too small, toilet so narrow that you can hardly move, shower without a door, generally very dirty room with lots of damage to the ceilings and walls
Mattresses were worn through.
Lake room has a good view, but location is only average because it is about 3 km from the town.
We paid 350 euros for 2 nights with breakfast. Not even half of that would be justified.

Brown blankets with a white "cover" are not inviting for cuddling.
Rooms are not particularly clean, bathroom is very small.
Staff are very nice, breakfast is delicious.
Enough to get through one night.
Free parking, pool and terrace were available.

Rooms and Pension and clean, garden and pool are well maintained.
Inn close to the city center (20min) walk and 5min drive. Free parking
Swimming pool with large garden to sit in the shade
Good care of the room
In short: highly recommended

I was on my way back to Blighty having had a wonderful three week in the south, I selected this modest hotel as had I heard the restaurant was good as often Auberges are. Whilst I knew the restuarant was shut on the evening we arrived our stay was for two nights and I had already selected the other restaurant an old favourite of mine.
We arrived at 4pm and the sun had followed us and it was still 25 degrees, so imagine my surprise to find that the pool was shut and locked, the surprises did not stop there as we checked in we told that our previously requested room upgrade had not been possible but that the boss was now able to upgrade us to two rooms in the annexe outside of the hotel, we then found out why. We were the only guests staying apart for a couple of elderly long term residence. The hotel was in fact closing after our check in.
We were given our keys and told that in an emergency call this number and someone would come to the hotel.
The rooms were tired and one had not been cleaned the whole hotel needs some care, there was a noisy sleep inhibiting extractor fan in one room that would not go off. obviously I did not feel inclined to eat there the following night but don't despair the staff are quite charming they apologise very well all the practice they get no doubt their apologies were not I fear sincere, my recommendation to you however are DO NOT VISIT HERE !
