Nestled near the lake and the heart of Annecy, Rivage Hôtel & Spa is celebrated for its prime location and tranquil ambience. Guests enjoy the well-appointed rooms and are particularly taken with the spa and pool. However, the service quality has received mixed reviews, swinging between warm attentiveness and noticeable neglect. Cleanliness is generally upheld, though some areas need more consistent maintenance. While some guests find value in the off-season rates and amenities, others are dissatisfied with additional charges and the cost of services.

We spent two nights in a superior room, located with mountain views. We particularly appreciated the location of our room, on the 3rd floor, which was very quiet and comfortable. However, we went into town one morning as early as 10:00, hung the sign asking to clean the room, and were very surprised when we returned at 4:00 pm that it had not been cleaned. Fortunately, we saw a woman in charge in the hallway who immediately arranged for the necessary steps to be taken. We tested the pool and hammam, which were pretty good. Unfortunately we were not able to test the hot tub which was well occupied, including by children. Apart from the places around the pool, we did not find a quiet place to rest or read. It also lacks hooks to hang bathrobes or linens around the pool when all chairs are occupied. We had a meal one evening at the restaurant. It was very good but the service was average. On the other hand, we want to improve the quality of the bar staff!!! They were both attentive, very good advice, very professional and cocktails or other were excellent! We would like to congratulate them because we have rarely seen such an effective team, especially with the world. A big BRAVO to them!!!

Our week-long stay in this hotel was a success in every way. Everything is done to offer residents a perfect experience. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and quiet at the same time, with a large bathroom and perfect bedding. The breakfast buffet is designed to satisfy all tastes, the bar is sumptuous. It's difficult to find the slightest fault in such a hotel... The large covered car park is even equipped with numerous charging stations for electric vehicles! The value for money is exceptional!

Great experience , very nice Inn, with a top location: by the lake and near downtown about twenty minutes walk very comfortable and very functional room, perfectly soundproofed tastefully furnished. Friendly and accommodating staff we were able to leave our vehicle a few hours in their underground parking after the Check out.
the restaurant and bar offer good products at very affordable Awards.
Late reception 1am because very complicated return from vacation.
The spa is superb with a very appreciable hourly range until 9pm
I recommend this property 100%
I will return to it with great pleasure

We stayed at this hotel for the second time, this time to celebrate New Year's Eve in love. We had high expectations, given the quality of our first visit. Unfortunately, this stay proved to be an accumulation of disappointments.

Problems in the room
Upon arrival in a prestige room (same category as during our first stay), we immediately noticed that the pillows were ridiculously small and uncomfortable, very different from those we had previously had. This does not correspond to the standard of a high standard hotel.
In addition, the shower head was defective, with a broken button that prevented normal operation. After reporting the problem at reception, I was given an unconvincing explanation (“special operation”), but even the person sent to check failed to activate the shower properly.

Restaurant: lack of transparency
We had booked a table for the evening of 31 December, but upon arrival we were told a mandatory single menu at 120 € per person, information that had not been communicated to us at the time of booking. Although the manager was kind and pushed our booking back to the next day, this unpleasant surprise ruined our New Year's Eve, which is hardly acceptable.

Noisy and uncomfortable night
We were located above the bar, and the soundproofing of the room was clearly insufficient. We were prevented from sleeping all night because of the noise. It was New Year’s Eve, but in a hotel of this standing, better sound insulation is expected.

Morning incidents: cold shower and inaccessible spa
The next morning we learned that there was a boiler problem, which led to cold showers. It was extremely unpleasant, especially after a difficult night. The spa, which we were looking forward to relaxing, was unusable until 3 pm due to technical issues affecting the pool and jacuzzi. This totally compromised our main objective: to enjoy the hotel facilities.

Breakfast service: a lack of professionalism
During breakfast, a waitress cleared our table when we were just off to get coffee. She put a chocolate-covered napkin back on the table, after seeing that it touched the waffle we had left. This type of behaviour is unworthy of an institution in this category.

Conclusion
Despite a commercial gesture (free breakfasts), this does not compensate for the many inconveniences encountered: a cold shower, poor soundproofing, an inaccessible spa, poor service and a lack of transparency on reservations. This stay, which we were looking forward to, left us frustrated and disappointed. We hoped for a relaxing and memorable experience, but we left stressed and unhappy.

I strongly recommend that management review some of the essential elements to maintain the standard expected in an establishment of this range.

Very disappointed for a 4 stars
Especially for catering which does not take into account your diet yet specified at the time of booking
The staff does not seem very present and eager to satisfy its customers
No effort for the menu to adapt to dietary restriction
The cleaning of the rooms is done at the end of the day with carts that hang out in the corridors
At the spa nobody to put clean cups and put water in the carafe

My weekend of August 17 left me feeling disappointed. Although the Pension is beautiful, I was deeply disappointed by the condition of our room: multiple cobwebs (especially on the headboard) hair in the bathroom and dirty surfaces in the room. For a night at 485€ I do not expect this type of service...
I have never encountered this type of problem in a competitor like Ibis or any other hotel chain.

When returning our room the receptionist ( blonde with glasses ) asks us if our stay is well spent. We explain that yes only flat the cleanliness room. She did not notice.

Very good breakfast with a wide choice and quality products; the restaurant staff very smiling and caring.

A very beautiful spa area, very clean and spacious. We wished we could enjoy lemonade, but we couldn't find a clean glass... It is important to take your gloves (kessa ) and black soap for the steam room, to exfoliate your skin. Because there isn't (unless I'm wrong).

Very good cocktails at Virgin pina colada bar.

However, I recommend the address despite the fact that my stay was not smooth. My experience should not be generalized, as the Pension offers very good services and the Pension staff I met on Saturday are extremely professional.

We went to the Shore for lunch.
The setting is very nice. Nice decoration. The bar, reception and entrance are decorated in fashion.
The bar is nice and the cocktails good.
The restaurant experience is disappointing. Not necessarily in terms of food (good mature meat) but with a service that is not at the level expected of such an establishment with this type of rates offered.
A little more professionalism and experience are mandatory. You cannot ask the same tables several times for confirmation of dishes. You can’t serve a rib at almost €60 a piece without asking for the fillings (I ended up with a simple salad ..). ... too bad

A good sized hotel in a prime position overlooking the lake, it is however a bit of a trek from the centre of town, probably a good 30 minutes walk. We were waiting quite some time at the train station for a taxi to turn up, although we subsequently used Uber’s which seemed pretty reliable. Our room was on the side of the hotel as I think most of them are, so not directly facing the lake but we still had a good view of the mountains and could see the lake off to the right from our balcony. The room itself was a good size with facilities including a Nespresso machine and a safe, although the latter had been left locked by the previous occupants so we could not use it. To be fair, I’m sure they would have sorted it out if we had asked, but then again I would have thought it might be something that housekeeping would have checked.

Breakfast was a help yourself buffet but offered a good spread with all bases covered including cold meat, cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and so on. Hot choices were a bit more limited though, with some odd looking sausages that looked more like chorizo, and scrambled egg that was very gloopy and certainly past it’s best. There was also a bar area where we enjoyed a couple of very pleasant cocktails, although the DJ that had in there one evening seemed a little too loud. Overall though, if you don’t mind the walk in to town, a pretty good bet.

The hotel is very nice, new, great parking, good reception staff. Our room was nice, modern and comfortable. The a/c worked well, the bathroom very nice. The view from the balcony was ok, there is no real lake view as the trees block it out. We had a room on the 2nd floor. Privacy is an issue as you can see into the room from the road if the curtain is open. There are no voiles so if you want daylight sacrifice your privacy. Also the location of a very large mirror right next tot the patio doors means people from other rooms can see right into your room.

Parking is excellent there is a large underground parking garage, available for €20 per night.

Also of note are the lifts. There are four. Which means you are never waiting more than a few seconds for one.

Breakfast is good. Dinner at le richocet restaurant is poor and very poor value. The food is very average and certainly not up to the high prices. We only ate here once as a result. Selecting the set menu means you will get a portion size roughly half the size of the same dish from the a la carte menu. So zero savings.

We tried the bar once, it looks lovely but the staff were disinterested and served stale popcorn with your drinks, we were also over charged, which was corrected on challenging.

Reception staff are lovely, friendly and knowledgeable and helpful.

Response from Marlène CAPORUSSO, General Manager at Rivage Hôtel & Spa Annecy
Responded Sep 4, 2023
Dear Sam, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and we are sorry that your stay did not live up to your expectations. We have taken note of your comments about our restaurant and will pass them on to the relevant departments. Concerning the privacity of your room, it's true that we don't have curtains under our opaque curtains. However, you do have the option of an electric blind in your room, which allows you to block the view from the outside without cutting you off from daylight. However, we are delighted to know that you have appreciated the modernity of our establishment, as well as the friendliness of our reception staff. We remain entirely at your disposal for any other requests you may have. With our best regards, Mathilde - Deputy Director

Room +++ with terrace facing the lake, nice spa but big downside on services and catering. Room service closing at 9pm!!! Impossible to eat beyond 21:30 (by the way, some Ibis 2** or 3*** have a "light food" offer 24/24!!). We ordered a tray of mezzes at the Pension bar which arrived at the same time as the burgers that were to follow and which, in addition, were cold, we sent them back and they his income "hot" shortly after... So we had to start the meal with the fried burgers and then peck at the mezzes... This meal upside down greatly displeased us!! In the morning, at breakfast, the scrambled eggs were systematically lukewarm, if not cold; after reporting the bp to the waitress, they were hot the next day and lukewarm again the day after. We will not return to this Pension which is not up to his standards.
