Nestled in a prime spot for exploring Lyon on foot, Hôtel De L'Abbaye earns praise for its tastefully decorated interiors and spacious rooms. While opinions on value and room size vary, guests frequently commend the hotel's cleanliness and the comfort of its rooms. The service receives accolades for being welcoming and professional, although there have been occasional notes of inconsistency. Despite some concerns about AC options and parking distance, the hotel's overall inviting atmosphere and central location make it a popular choice among travelers.

This is a fabulous boutique hotel in Lyon. The hotel is beautiful inside with designer rooms which are spacious and airy. En suite bathrooms come with L’Occitane toiletries and big fluffy towels. Our room was lovely with three large windows one overlooking the basilica and the other two the side street. Beds are big and comfy with lovely cotton sheets and plenty of pillows. Rooms are quiet and air conditioned. Breakfast is served in a beautiful airy room with plenty of good quality produce ( and they even managed to get some plant based milk so I could have cereal and offered to make me scrambled eggs with it too). We were having a drink and looking at the history of the hotel and realised our barman was actually the owner. All of the staff were lovely, you got the feeling they wanted to be hosts and hostesses and nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights stay and will be returning as we feel there is still more of Lyon to see and this is a lovely base to see it from.

For those looking for a unique and authentic place, for those who are sensitive to history and art, this hotel is a very pleasant discovery. Nestled in a magnificent square in the city center, we were welcomed with great kindness by Nicolas. Next to the beautiful modern elevator, we decided to go up the old stairs steeped in history, undoubtedly used by many students in the past. We stayed in a room decorated with great taste, where every detail was taken care of: the contemporary furnishings with a touch of the old, the very comfortable bed, the bathroom, the lighting, the little map with the history of the building, the one with the indications to preserve the environment…
We really appreciated the comfort in a cozy atmosphere. Bravo to who created this establishment and who manages it daily!
We did not have time to taste breakfast and found the explanations in the parking lot very clear. Since we only stopped for a short night with very light luggage, we found it more practical to go directly to the recommended parking lot, without going through the hotel to take the card and settled for a lower rate, proportionate to the number hours used.
The walk between the hotel and the car park is very pleasant, it allowed us to cross the Saône and admire the beautiful view of Fourvière.

Located a few mins from Place Bellecour and nicely situated between the Rhone and the Soane, this is a charming hotel, a jewel. It is opposite a beautiful basilica in a quiet part of town. The refirb is senstational with cool furnishings and tasteful, modern decorations. Reception staff are most helpful and polite. Breakfast here is sensational with an extensive range of hot and cold choices (sweet and savory) - a bit pricy but you won’t need lunch. The standard room is charming - get a view over the basilica - with great coffee, water and other bits and pieces available.

The Hôtel de l'Abbaye Lyon is in a convenient location to walk to the Vieux-Lyon (old Lyon) district, When we tried to check-in around 1:00 pm we were told check-in time is at 4:00 pm and that they would call us if our room was ready earlier. We came back to the hotel at 3:30 pm and the room was ready but nobody ever called us.
We paid extra for the “ L'Élégante “ room which was an average size room and the bathroom had a tub.
The church bells go off every 15 minutes in the day so it can be quite noisy.
At the check-in desk there was usually one person and many times there was a wait to talk with someone.
However, most of the front desk workers were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was average and one morning we went around 7:30 am and there were no servers to help us.
We could hear women talking in the kitchen but by the time someone came out we already served our own coffee/ tea.
Overall the hotel is decent but at the price point I would look for something else next time in Lyon.

We stayed at Hotel de l'Abbaye for our two nights in Lyon. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet area by the river, yet conveniently located near the city centre.
Our room was small but beautiful, tastefully decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. We really appreciated the minibar items were individually priced, making it clear what everything cost and which items were free of charge - so much better than a minibar menu!
Although there is no parking on-site, the hotel was able to offer us parking in a safe, clean, carpark within walking distance of the hotel.
I would highly recommend this property if you are planning a stay in Lyon!

This hotel is absolutely terrific, a hidden gem in the heart of Lyon. The staff is first rate, responsive and multilingual. The rooms are clean, quiet and perfectly sized for couples. The area is romantic and near shopping and restaurants but removed enough to avoid the noise. One caveat, it is near a beautiful church and the noon bells are loud enough to wake the dead. But you come to Lyon to engage with the rich offerings of the region, not to sleep past noon. The adjoining restaurant prepares great meals and has a wonderful italian chef with a deep mastery of both Lyonnaise and Italian cuisine, supported by a thoughtful and attentive staff. The wine list is also expertly curated and more than fair in its pricing. All of this for room rates that are eminently reasonable. Highly highly recommend.

We wished we could have stayed longer. The room had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, towels soft, and plenty of l'Occitane toiletries to indulge. Breakfast was superb. There's a nice bar, tastefully decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful. And, all in walking distance of the centre.

Very well decorated hotel and room in a very beautiful building, very clean rooms and generous and varied breakfast. The staff is also very friendly and available.

No parking on site but a daily fee of 25€ in a nearby underground car park (St-George, ~10min. walk, clean and secure) and it is possible to unload/load luggage at the bottom of rue pl. d'Aulnay (dead end) just opposite the St-Martin abbeys/at the entrance to the hotel.

I chose this hotel based on certain good reviews from various websites. The hotel is cozy, and the room is nice but very small. After a long journey, I arrived at 8:30 PM, only to be unpleasantly surprised that the restaurant was closed for 10 days, with no alternative food options available. The receptionist’s attitude made it even worse—she arrogantly claimed it was mentioned on the website (which was untrue) and showed no empathy, even though I was there with my 5-year-old and unable to go far at that late hour. For such an expensive hotel, the poor service and lack of professionalism are shocking. While the location is great, it’s disappointing how little they prioritize customer care.

I stayed with my daughter at your establishment for one night. Very nice location in Lyon and on the square opposite the Abbey. We were upgraded to an Essential room, which was very appreciated. The room is very pleasant, large, quiet, tastefully decorated and well equipped (partially free minibar), very comfortable bed. Having arrived around 8:30 p.m. on a Sunday, the restaurant was closed. We were offered to have a bar snack which serves boards (unfortunately bread was missing - we had however been warned). Very good cakes.
