Owing to Eurotunnel cancelling the return journey, we decided to drive to Lyon by car via Eurotunnel, stopping off once (see other review). When we arrived, the concierge was waiting outside the hotel to help us unload the car and drive it to wherever they keep it. We were offered refreshments on arrival and shown to our room which was a fabulous junior suite with living room area, very comfortable and large bed and lovely bathroom facilities (we had specifically asked for room with a shower on basis of other TA reviews). As soon as you leave the hotel you are in the heart of the old town with countless bars and restaurants to choose from and a number of attractive squares with bar/restaurant terraces. Back to the hotel, the bar there is very expensive but enables you to escape from the crowds and enjoy some jazz music. I would have liked a slightly wider bar food menu - savoury was just smoked salmon or "selection of cheese". I had the cheese but it was minuscule portions - we were just peckish late night having had mid afternoon lunch. Breakfast in the room on 2 of our 3 days there which was superb - we had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and delicious coffee. The concierge staff were really knowledgeable and helpful and incredibly kindly and discreetly left bottles of water in our car ready for our journey home. On returning to Lyon would definitely stay in this beautiful hotel again.

Dear madeleinet480, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience at Cour des Loges following your visit. We are delighted that you appreciated the location and the charm of the old stones and noted the professionalism of our teams and the quality of our breakfast. I will be sure to pass on your comment about the rates to the service department. For your dinner, we could advise you our café-Epicerie which proposes a greedy and generous local cooking and which I am persuaded will know how to seduce you. We hope to see you soon among us. Sincerely, Rémi Munier Duty Manager

This hotel is conveniently located in old Lyon so it’s easy to get to most of the main attractions. They serve an excellent breakfast buffet worth taking advantage of because you’ll need the energy to handle all the walking you’ll do.

The bar is nice and they even have a few street facing tables so you can people watch. The bartender will bring you an inherently French cocktail that will become your new favorite!

The room I stayed in was very nice and well appointed but it would not have been a good room to share - thus 4 stars. There is no separation between the bedroom and the tub - which is literally next to the bed and then a glass enclosed shower where if you’re sharing a room, there is no privacy whatsoever. Sink is also in the room. The toilet at least is behind a closed door but it’s a small area and a large person would have great difficulty getting in and out.

This is beautiful hotel in the centre of the old town. The approach (by car) is somewhat confusing as well as hair raising in a large car, given the narrowness of the lanes and the number of pedestrians but it was worth it. When we got there, our car was moved by the concierge to secure parking (I pre booked it) and we were offered a refreshing glass of flavoured water. We were upgraded to the most amazing room which was a super treat. The bed was super comfy, we had chocolate and a turn down after dark. The bath (in the room) was a real luxury.
We had issues with our electricity and the receptionist at check out waived our parking charges.
We really wanted to stay another night here - I would absolutely recommend it as a place to stay in Lyon, for the atmosphere, position and amazing staff.

Dear Babyalmie, How could I not be moved by your beautiful comment? Thank you for having chosen Cour des Loges for your escapade in Lyon. We were very happy to be able to upgrade you and thus make you discover our most beautiful suites. As you mentioned, the access by car is not the easiest; that's why our concierge team is very happy to accompany you to your destination. We will soon be closing our hotel for renovations and I will personally be happy to show you around from the summer of 2023. In the meantime, I send you my best regards, Yours sincerely, REMI MUNIER Duty Manager

This place was super quirky but had a lot of good things going for it. The location is right in the center of the old city with a ton of classic Lyonnais restaurants in every direction, as well as plenty of patisseries, gift shops, and the marionettes museums.

The building itself is VERY Lyon, with the classic stacked staircases look you'll see throughout the old city and its traboules.

But the rooms are weird. We stayed in one of the Ateliers suites. Ours was film themed. It was strange that the bathroom was along the staircase to the master bedroom, like you walked past the sink and drying off area. But then the toilet was downstairs without a sink.

And there seems to be many technical issues. Ours was that the internet barely worked. There was one area my iPhone would work, but my wife's Android wouldn't connect from anywhere. Other reviews also seem to indicate that air conditioning is not reliable (but we came in November).

Making up for it all though is the service. The concierge was great. The bar had excellent cocktails. The restaurant is renowned.

I am happy we stayed here but in the future I'd probably stay someplace more updated, probably in the 1st arrondissement, where it would be easier to explore the entire city.

The Cour de Loges has an great location and old world ambiance, being a historical building in Old Lyon. It’s very dark which feels gloomy. And the rooms of the reception area are a mishmash of dark sitting rooms, not inviting. The staff was wonderful! At first glance the rooms are what I would call dreamy, like you woke up in another era. But when you really start to live in the room, so many things made the stay below par, most notably the bathroom. There was a step up into the bathroom, another safety issue when you get up in the middle of the night. Our shower was built into a dark closet with a light so dim you could barely see, which I found unsafe. The hair dryer was so old and heavy and cumbersome to use. In general the room felt like it was getting a little long in the tooth, dings in the wall and rickety table. There are no information sheets in the room that we could find, and when we wanted to call the front desk we couldn’t figure out how to use the phone, as it wasn’t the usual hotel room phone. The bed itself was comfy. I found out upon leaving that the hotel will soon be closing for a remodel, which it desperately needs. Can’t wait to see what that does to room rates. I hope the remodel maintains the old world feel , but brightens it up and brings the rooms up to a more modern standard. Thankfully the staff was truly terrific, which outweighed the negatives.

Amazing hotel, the coolest, quirkiest place in Lyon I think. Such a fascinating old building and excellent service from all staff.

One tip: The hotel is located in the pedestrian zone...so if you are arriving by car, you have to navigate to Rue Lainerie, which brings you to a bollard in front of the pedestrian zone. Ring the hotel when you get there and speak to the concierge who will give you a code to make the bollard go down, he'll also help you navigate the narrow pedestrian streets. Massive thank you to the concierge for all the help!

We only stayed one night, but it was magical, every part of the hotel is just so special. We loved the cosy bar and the spa. Hot tub was amazing and the little gym room was small but well-equipped.

Concierge booked a lovely restaurant for us (Soleil).

Room was small but cosy with the most amazing huge bath. Wish we could have stayed longer in this incredible hotel.

Definitely worth staying here while you're in Lyon!

We had an amazing stay at the Cour des Loges. Yes, it is a beautiful property but what make our experience so remarkable was the staff. Vincent, Remi and ALL of the staff were very helpful and delightful to converse with. This was the first hotel we stayed in our trip to France and Switzerland and of our 17 day trip through many cities, it was by far the best! We hope to be back in Lyon and will definitely stay here again. PS - Thanks for the amazing breakfast!

It's a bit of a challenge getting to the hotel, but it's worth the effort. It's a marvelously atmospheric building and location, full of hidden treasures, but the best part is the staff. They are wonderfully helpful and thoughtful. The rooms and suites have quirky layouts, but it is part of the charm of the historic building. There are "hanging gardens" and a spa with saunas and a lap pool with current to swim against for hotel guests. I didn't have a chance to eat in the restaurant, but the breakfasts were delicious.

This is an extraordinary hotel and restaurant. The history is spectacular and Sandrine, the concierge is quite amazing and made us so welcome with so much information. We were though underwhelmed with the room which had no shower which at almost £400 for the night was somewhat surprising. The dinner was delicious - we had the menu découvert and were very well looked after. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly but the room experience will make us think again about staying there again.

We stayed in one of the duplex suites. It was so unique and roomy! One caveat is that there are stairs up to the sleeping loft so would not recommend for someone with trouble getting up and down the stairs. But if this is not an issue, this room was unlike any we have stayed in before. It was also so quiet that we slept in - which is something we are not used to with kids and dogs.

The staff were incredibly helpful and gracious. The morning breakfast was had lots of variety of cheeses, fruits, breads, pastries, yogurt, eggs, and meats. It was a great way to start the day.

The location was excellent. Its in the old city but easy walking to other sites or to transportation to other sites.

Would highly recommend!

Further to your request, the easiest way to arrive at Cour des Loges is by taxi. I advise you to exit at “Porte des Alpes”, where you will find plenty of them. The price for a taxi from the train station to the hotel is roughly 20€. Otherwise, you can reach the hotel by metro, taking the line “B” direction “Gare d’Oullins” at the exit of the train station. You will need to change at “Saxe Gambetta”, in order to take the line “D” direction “Gare de Vaise”. Exit at « Vieux Lyon, Cathédrale Saint Jean », and then, walk 5 minutes on cobblestone street in order to reach the hotel. The price for a metro ticket is 1,90€. Do not hesitate to call us if you have any issues finding the hotel : +33 472 774 444 Waiting forward to the pleasure of welcoming you in Cour des Loges, Best regards,
