We immediately saw that a desk and two chairs were missing, but we did not have the reflex to ask for another room.
Indeed, the tiny coffee table, without suitable seat did not allow to work comfortably.,
In addition, there were many small basic comforts missing:
- magnifying mirror in the shower room,
- a broom to clean the toilet,
- correct glasses and cups, instead of cardboard cups that are not pleasant to use,
- a safety bar in the shower or a non-slip mat.
The distribution of towels was random (one or two per person depending on the day), as well as the doses of coffee and tea: sometimes yes, sometimes no; and always a single dose of decaffeine.
The space was rather pleasant despite the dimensions a little right.
We are therefore quite moderately satisfied, especially when compared with Novotel in Vienna (Austria) or Berlin (Berlin-Mitte for example).
Breakfast correct but lacking changes, a little weak for the deli part and a little better reminiscent of an Ibis Inn. Real oranges with a pressing machine would be welcome, the orange juice offered being very medium, tasteless and too watery.
The layout of the buffet was well thought out (all in duplicate), but the tables paar against were too close to each other.

A very positive Rating for the restaurant: quality cuisine, impeccable service.

I do not recommend this hotel, whose quality-price ratio is poor, and whose overall service is closer to an ibis.
A small room, comfortable bedding but nothing more, and a step behind what other Novotel or Mercure hotels offer (Novotel Confluence, Mercure Part Dieu, for example, much better).
An aging establishment, the materials bear the marks of the years, particularly in the bathroom, which is really simple for a 4-star hotel.
No bottle of water in the room, which means you have to leave the room each time to go to the landing to get water... still pretty average for a Novotel, I've never seen this elsewhere before .
Only one trash can in the bathroom, none in the sleeping area, and no mini desk or small table as usually offered in all similar establishments. Only a small base table is present, but therefore very uncomfortable for working on a PC for example.
The magnetic card is constantly demagnetized, every evening having to return to reception...
The elevator is dirty.
The room is poorly soundproofed towards the top (noise of knocks and slamming of doors and others).
The Tony Garnier hall, just opposite, also gives noisy nights... despite the lined windows (which are not all young by the way), the noise manages to get through.
As for the view, even on the top floor, it doesn't break a duck's three legs, and the neighborhood isn't extraordinary either.
The restaurant, for what I tried, is good, but again, relatively expensive.
In 3 months - from January to March - I stayed 41 nights, I am a Platinum customer with Accor and it is quite clear that I do not plan to spend that much money on this hotel in the future.

The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the tourist area of Lyon and would be much more suited to professionals with work in the neighbouring areas or attending conferences. The hotel decor is nicely presented with a modern artistic tone in the lobby area. The welcome at reception was friendly but a little disorganised and the inexperience of the receptionist was apparent. This led to the wrong room being issued, incorrect breakfast time shared and and over charge for the included breakfasts.
The 2nd room (double) on first glance was beautifully presented and clean and much more desirable than the 1st room (twin) The bed was large and comfy and the amenities were welcomed i.e. tea/coffee, fridge, seating area etc. The bathroom was also large with a magnificent walk in shower.

However upon living in the room it is the lack of attention to detail from the designers which become apparent. There was only 1 available plug which was beside the bed and on the opposite side from the seating area. As a business hotel you must then do your work from the bed. I asked at reception for an extension lead but they did not have, so I purchased from the supermarket. Another irregularity was the soap dispenser in the bathroom which was not located over the sink or vanity and instead on the side wall which inevitably means soap drips to the floor. The taps, modern and lovely as they were, are situated inside the sink which means you can't fit both hands together under the water to wash. Also, in such a large room the toilet was positioned tight to the wall and so high that for a person of 5'7 only my tippy toes touched the ground. The side of the shower tray trim was also missing. The TV had but 1 English channel. Picky I know, but at that standard and price, expectations are higher.

The breakfast was very well done with a large offering of different foods to suit everyone. The food itself was stunning and tasted delicious. It felt back to the good old days before Covid. The dining area was lovely and with nice decor and attentive staff.

The area of the hotel is quiet however there is a supermarket close by and a few very nice restaurants. The tourist areas can be reached by bus or metro or a 40 minute walk.

Overall this is a nice hotel with potential but some attention to detail is needed.

Our stay at Novotel Lyon has been incredibly disappointing. I’ve always associated the Novotel brand with a certain standard, but this hotel fell far below expectations. Frankly, Lyon deserves better. The entire property feels outdated and shockingly unclean.

Upon arrival, we were given a room with a shower cubicle that was filthy and had mold growing on the walls. To make matters worse, we found old, dirty clothes left behind by a previous occupant. This level of cleanliness is unacceptable. We requested a room change, but even the new room was barely cleaner. The overall condition of the hotel is dire and in need of serious refurbishment.

Additionally, the amenities and service were severely lacking. The water dispenser in the reception was broken and leaked throughout the night, which made the area look extremely unprofessional. The entrance to the hotel is confusing due to its shared access and convoluted barrier system, making it difficult to figure out how to enter. The car park was similarly complicated, with no clear signage for pedestrians on how to return to the hotel from the parking area.

We also encountered issues with the staff and their lack of communication. They did not provide any information about the hotel’s facilities or breakfast options upon check-in. Despite there being three of us in the room, they only gave us one key card. On top of this, they charged us a 1,000-euro damage deposit, even though the booking.com listing clearly stated it would only be 500 euros per booking. When I questioned the staff about the discrepancy, they were unable to provide a clear explanation and instead suggested that I should have booked directly through them rather than through booking.com. This felt unprofessional and misleading.

Our overall experience was further marred by inconsistent promises. We had booked two rooms and stayed at the hotel twice within a week. During our first stay, we were given connected rooms, which was ideal since we were a family of two adults and three children. We specifically requested the same arrangement for our second stay, and were assured that it would be possible. However, upon arrival for the second stay, we were informed that the staff member who made the promise should not have done so, and we were not given the connecting rooms. Had we known this beforehand, we would have chosen a different hotel.

I’ve never stayed in a hotel in such poor condition and with such unreliable service before. This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to leave a negative review, but I believe Novotel management urgently needs to address these issues. I truly hope they take action to improve this hotel.

Pension to escape! quality ratio, disastrous Award a very obsolete Pension for the Award that costs a night cleanliness that leaves something to be desired, small room, simply unworthy of a Novotel
However, in a great location, this is the only positive aspect of the Pension. Everything else is very bad pool, not consistent with the photos much smaller than on the site.
Quite simply, to flee!

I would like to share my disappointing experience during my stay at this hotel. From our arrival, the welcome was particularly unpleasant. The switchboard operator, chewing gum, did not advise us properly on the services available, which was frustrating. (3 switchboard operators of the same level reception and customer service ). Wrong advice on available transport and places to visit! The minimum for this type of work, right?

In addition, I had the unpleasant surprise of finding a hair on my bath towel, which raises questions about the cleanliness of the establishment. Regarding the heating, which seemed to be there only for decoration, I asked for an extra duvet to be more comfortable. My request was accepted and processed but with a hang-up during my phone request which is unacceptable.

I strongly recommend that management review all of its teams and implement customer service and hygiene training. For my part, I will not return to this hotel.

So how can I tell you!!!!
Unpleasant welcome and reception
Dirty elevator
The swimming pool !!!! Where ???? I'll call it a bacteria tray
The restaurant area at the swimming pool - nothing is cleaned, we look for the pizza maker
On the other hand, the pizza dough is good.
Finally something good
Be careful if we offer you a towel for the pool it will cost you 3 euros per towel!!!!!!! Amazing !!!
And finally, the breakfast which seems ok - a word of advice - avoid poultry ham
He's weird, he stings
Personally the little one didn't come by - a little vomito in the 10 m which followed
In short, go elsewhere

**Review of Novotel Hotel Lyon Gerland Musée des Confluences**

I recently stayed at Novotel Hotel Lyon Gerland Musée des Confluences on October 23 and 24, 2024, and I must express my profound disappointment. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare.

Upon arrival, we were shocked to discover that our room did not have the advertised air conditioning. Instead, we were told to keep the windows open, which was not only uncomfortable but also downright alarming given the presence of rats and insects in the area. The small window made the room feel claustrophobic, intensifying the discomfort. I lay in a very uncomfortable bed, unable to relax in a sweltering room with no relief in sight.

This stay has left me with a lasting aversion to Novotel. The false advertising regarding amenities is unacceptable, and the lack of concern from the staff about our comfort was equally disheartening. I will never choose Novotel again, as this experience has marred my impression of the brand for life.

We had chosen the hotel for the swimming pool, we were not able to go there, too many people…..(very small swimming pool)
Nothing to say about the room, spacious in the standard expected for a 4 star (apart from the toilet which doesn't flush and the TV remote control which no longer works 😢
Hilarious anecdote: we were given room 108, we went up the stairs, we went to the right instead of going to the left (no signage) so room 108 but occupied, we were at Ibis😂
The meal :
Italian salad for Madame, a piece of plastic packaging in the dish….
Rosé wine is not fresh…
The gourmet coffee is hot, the ice cream too….
It wasn't a good day...

First impressions count for a lot. Let's start with the parking, access is complicated with no helpful information as to what to do, the spaces are fine if you have a very small car otherwise you risk expensive damage on pillars.
Reception is haphazard at best. Long queue, harassed staff, no English spoken, and room not what was ordered.
The room is desperately ordinary. Made up for a family, but only two of us. Reception not willing to change it around so we have.
Carpet not hoovered, light not working, one teabag, I very much doubt any attention is paid to covid protection.
We stay in lots of places all over the world, some cheap, some expensive and are well aware that this is at the budget end of the scale, but this does not excuse a lacklustre room, poor cleaning and uncaring, unhelpful, staffing.
The one teabag was accompanied by only one one milk which although ridiculous is strangely logical. I went downstairs to remedy (no point in phoning) a manager was helpful but unable to find any milk, he was bailed out by a barman who knew where to look.
Had it not been for the horrendous traffic and the fact we are only here 1 night we would definitely have checked out to find something/anything better.
Take the advice of a very experienced traveller, stay somewhere else.
