Nestled near the train station, the Hôtel Mercure Lyon Centre Château Perrache offers a convenient location, although guest opinions differ on the safety and ease of access. The hotel's ambiance garners compliments for its serene and chicly renovated spaces. Accommodations are a mixed bag: while some guests find the rooms spacious and applaud their cleanliness, others have faced issues with maintenance and size.
Ample praise is given for the modern room amenities, yet the gym facilities and occasional parking shortages have raised some concerns. When it comes to service, staff friendliness is often acknowledged, despite occasional lapses in efficiency. However, there's a consensus that the hotel's value for money could be improved, leaving some guests feeling underwhelmed with the overall experience.

Wishing to visit Lyon, we chose this hotel because it is very well located, next to Lyon Perrache with access to the entire city by bus, metro or tramway. The welcome was good (except for breakfast, the receptionist was not friendly, did not say hello and spoke aggressively). The room (suite) is huge, the bed too and everything is pleasant. Although next to the station, it is particularly well soundproofed. Breakfast is very good and there is a lot of choice. On the other hand, a serious problem is to be deplored on the restaurant side. My daughter's dish (rib steak and fries) was filthy, full of fat and nerves. The fries tasted sweet (they weren't sweet potatoes). We were very disappointed and this is not worthy of the standard of the hotel, namely 4 stars. We like Accor group hotels and try to eat our meals there in the evening when we sleep there. Perhaps we will need to change the way we do things....

Spacious well soundproofed room, comfortable bedding First evening Happy hour offering virgin Mojito but not possibility to have one because no fresh mint and no compensation by the waitress in return!!!! So the next night Happy hour taken elsewhere in a bar place bellecour Hearty breakfast and dedicated and available staff especially Louisa We took Half Board: our thanks to Alison who is dedicated, competent, doing everything to compensate for the lack of professionalism in the kitchen because the contents of the dishes are not worthy of a 4 star Mercure type hotel, very disappointing, too bad Egg is said to be poached well cooked....risotto bathed in its juice , velvety butternut on the first liquid evening...and second thick evening because lacked coconut milk... At the reception the staff is attentive and pleasant as well as Saïd , very competent waiter Compensation with points on my All Accor..... Thank you anyway.

Room: very clean, spacious and quite modern, but there was literally no view from the windows; large smart TV in the room, but not connected to internet, which i wouldn't expect from such hotel (couldn't use Netflix, etc) Staff: very friendly and helpful, but could be more skilled in English Breakfast: definitely not worth the price - from hotel of such category I would expect much better breakfast - gluten free bread must have been requested every morning; there were literally no vegetables, scrambled eggs were more like scrambled butter with pieces of eggs; breakfast is more for people who don't like to eat healthy and prefer traditional food like croissant, pancakes, jam and sausages; I'm not sure if it's common in France, but eggs were raw and one had to cook it before eating. Compared to different same category hotels, definitely disappointment from this point of view. Overall experience: Ok, but view and breakfast were unfortunately downers

Mercure was once a symbol of high-end within the Accor group. Well, this really doesn't deserve the Mercure brand except for breakfast and the common areas, housed in the rooms of an ancient building that recalls ancient splendor thanks to its solemnity. It is the Mercure Lyon Center Château Perrach which, being passing through Lyon, I chose for (relative, 25' walk) proximity to the centre, for the presence of closed paid parking (€18) and, knowing the Mercure brand, for the description and photographs of rooms and common areas. I'll start with the room: we had to change rooms because the one assigned to us had a clogged sink (tiny bathroom but with separate toilets). We were given a smaller one as a replacement, as was the bed, amenities in the bathroom, and a tiny shower. Two functioning TV channels, not even the French national ones (canal + and CanalSat TV bouquets were indicated in the booking confirmation). The booking confirmation indicated "complimentary mineral water in the room" but instead there was only an empty jug and in the corridor a water dispenser of the kind found in offices years ago. “Renovated room” and “modern furnishings” stated the booking confirmation. Perhaps for the time of Marie Antoinette and I think the photos can demonstrate this. In short, more than a 4-star hotel room, it looked like a small bedroom/cabin on a ferry due to the size of the room and bathroom. I have stayed in several chain hotels (Novotel, Mercure and Sofitel) in the past years. The decay is evident and not only in this. The Novotel Nice Arenas had already been a disappointment at the beginning of the year compared to the comfort experienced in previous years (not very recent). €165 for two people including breakfast and garage for one night. Price for Accor members. I don't think that for what is represented above it deserves to pay that amount. Disappointing and description on the Accor website and in the booking confirmation not corresponding to what was found on site.

Never should anybody have to experience what I did in any hotel! When I went to bed I checked the bedding before I got in and the mattress protector was covered in stains and hair. Not just one persons hair, this thing had been on the bed for ages. The stains covered the entire protector. I took it off my bed and went down to reception the following morning. What I was offered by the manager was some points on a card I do not own. Now come on, surely a room upgrade and partial refund should have been offered but it wasn’t. As I was only there for 2 nights I asked for free breakfast for myself and my partner. As a manager I would have been mortified, I would have offered the customer anything and everything.
The rooms are very small, with minimal space to move around in. The large smart tv had no apps on it, so totally pointless if you cannot watch anything in the language you require. If they installed the apps we could watch from our own accounts, Apple TV, Prime, Netflix etc. Half a door on the shower, of course the water goes everywhere. Breakfast was very disorganised and chaotic. When I arrived most of the hot food wasn’t available and what was available no longer warm. No pastries, no cutlery on my table and tables not cleared quick enough.
The location of the hotel in theory should be good but what you have to do is walk through a large carpark and then a complicated train station to get anywhere. Doing this in the dark, would be a no for me.
The gym is so neglected, I walked in and then walked out. The one exercise bike available is so old and the seat would not move I literally couldn’t use it. No kettlebells, three dumbbells 5kg, 2kg and 1kg what do they expect us to do with those? I weights machine, with no pin to change the weight.
€200 deposit when checking in at the end of my holiday was unexpected and unnecessary. I did say that I didn’t want to pay it that I wouldn’t be incurring any costs or charges and that if I wanted breakfast I would pay at reception. I was told that I had to pay it and that it would not come out of my account if I incurred no charges at the end of my stay. Of course it came out of my account later that day.
I plan on visiting Lyon a lot but after the bed incident and the way it was managed I couldn’t stay here again.

I asked not to be near the train station and had already requested this as a Gold status member but it was given a very small room right next to the train station so loud trains since 5 AM in the morning. I asked if there was any other room to move to since I had already booked a premium room, so not cheap and they said no. I asked if the next day when people were checking in and out if we could switch rooms and they said they would leave messages and do their best. Long story short nothing happened. Their system broke and was unable to change rooms despite multiple follow-ups. You just get a sense that they’re not trying at the front desk. They seem very indifferent. Plus the location is very unsafe right by the main train station which might be a positive but there’s also a large homeless camp right within feet of the hotel entrance. Very uncomfortable. There’s many other choices to stay in Leon so I would avoid this hotel, especially as a business traveler if you have any other option.

Hotel rather well located (everything will depend on your expectations) Clean and spacious rooms (minimum expected for a Mercure) Air conditioning that does not work optimally… (I am still looking for refreshing air) Breakfast much too expensive for the offer: - no croissants - scrambled eggs which are almost liquid… - waiter takes the food (cold meats, etc.) in his hand (without gloves) and puts back on the tray what has fallen… it is borderline in terms of hygiene The system of taking a deposit of €50 per person in addition to the room on arrival seems reasonable to me.... In short, it’s not up to the standard of a Mercury, even if I admit it’s a busy summer period…

We stayed one night at this Pension, confident in the reputation of the brand, but unfortunately we were very disappointed by the welcome of the staff, who were very unholy and unpleasant. We had chosen this Inn partly for its private parking, especially as it is located right next to the station, but on arrival the parking was full and no alternative was offered to us. The young woman at the reception seemed almost annoyed. The room requires maintenance work and does not meet brand standards. I attached pictures into evidence. The positive point of the stay was the kindness and cordiality of the young man who looked after the room at dinner.

I would like to congratulate in particular Mme Marion Begoc for running an excellent front of house team; day and night. Nothing was too much trouble; they had plenty of good advice and whenever we needed something it was provided immediately. Breakfast was also well worth it; virtually everything you could think of was available. The hotel was fully Covid compliant, even though the hotel seemed very full, with sanitiser everywhere and clear instructions on how to use the facilities were also everywhere in French and good English. This was our first trip anywhere in over 2 years and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Chateau Perrache.

A really nice hotel with friendly staff, massive rooms and full of charm. There was a slight mix up with my booking on arrival, however the staff promptly upgraded me to a suite which was huge and very comfortable. The hotel location is ideally placed next to the train station and a short walk into the city centre.
