We stayed two nights at the Hotel Le Royal Lyon. The location on Place Bellecour is terrific.....easy walking to all parts of the old city, easy access to the Metro, the best/friendliest Tourist Information office we've been to in years is 60 meters from the from door of the hotel, VERY nice room, L'Institute Paul Bocuse is located in the... The personnel was extremely friendly and helpful, location is perfect and rooms very nice and spacious. If anything, I would recommend that the breakfast room table could be slightly larger. All in all, value for money is very good.

5 star hotel with everything you expect in place, marvelous location, some rooms have a great view. Downside is the restaurant, closed on Monday and if you don't have a reservation you have no space. Breakfast is basic. Staff is friendly.

We booked a circular junior suite and it was perfect. A view in every direction over the square and to the river. The furnishings are quite beautiful and service everywhere in the hotel is excellent. Thank you Jerome at the front desk for your patience and kindness. The breakfast room is quite lovely too. Probably the nicest in France. Please... More

This is my second stay at Le Royal Lyon. We stayed in a JR Suite on the 5th floor. The room was comfortable. I did not like the bathrooms. The suite had two bathrooms. Both were in need of renewal. The bottom of the bathroom doors were rotted perhaps from water damage. There were spots on the vanity that were... More

We stayed 3 nights in this charming old fashioned hotel in a lovely city. Our room on the 5th floor a bit shabby chic and maybe needing a bit of decorating, wasn't large but very quiet, clean and comfortable. A balcony to walk onto to view the Square below. We found the staff helpful and polite, didn't manage to have... More

The Hotel Royale is affiliated with the Institut Paul Bocuse (one of the top culinary and hospitality training schools) and students train there. But do not expect a modest performance; the service, the rooms, the food are all very good. The hotel is well decorated, although some of the areas show some wear. The breakfast food is a large buffet... More

This is our second visit. Our first in May when we were upgraded to a junior suite. The rooms are very adequate but the suites have more living space and a bigger toilet with a separate shower. The reception is very efficient and was helpful in booking restaurants and arranging for taxis.
