Nice and Cosy place to stay. We booked two rooms and spend about 8 days / 7 nights on this property. The rooms was excellent, very clean and tidy, the bathroom towels and bed sheet was of good quality. Very impressed. The location was ideal. About 10 minutes walk to the main gondola / Ski lifts. Ski Shop/rental is directly...

We have gone there every year for the last 21years. Ownership has changed in that time but the tradition and welcome of a small French Hotel remains. Great food Rooms are small to medium size but a rebuild is underway. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Val given the choice.

Genuinely friendly and really personal service from all the staff, even though we were a more demanding larger group over New Years. Hotel rooms (albeit standard room size is fairly small), other facilities and sauna looked newly refurbished, modern and very tastefully decorated. Nice touch with big common living room area for drinks, tea and board games/ piano. Excellent restaurant...

Lovely and friendly staff, the breakfast was superb and rooms quality was good. Is not a cheap location but this hotel, just 5 min walk from downtown, gets the best rates during the skiing high season. For sure we will go back during the next skiing season.

My first ski holiday was 25 years ago and we have been back to Val d'Isere many times , but L'Avancher is the best of the lot ! It is close to the free bus stop and close , but not too close to all the bars and restaurant , so we slept soundly every night . We did eat...

A very friendly atmosphere with personal service. Breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is good, if a little bit heavy on the cheese (very Savoyard). Rooms are comfortable with pleasant views on the mountain. Ski back to the door and a short walk or bus to the pistes. Been going for years and I highly recommended it.

Really enjoyed the long weekend we spent here. We arrived very early and the hotel opened reception especially for us to help us out and get us on the slopes by first lift. They were extremely helpful all throughout our stay. Nice breakfasts and the restaurant was always busy at dinner although we never ate there. You *have* to visit...

A good hotel with excellent food and a very good location for easy skiing. The ski bus stops 100m away to get to the main lifts. For return the hotel is an easy ski back. Rooms are cosy but comfortable. The sauna is a pleasant extra for after a long day on the slopes. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel L'Avancher is a wooden chalet, built in 1949 by a visionary, an ambitious construction worker for the Dam of Tignes. Signed over to Charles and Renee Kassenberg in 1958 it was immediately turned into a hotel, making it one of the oldest hotels in Val d'Isere. Their daughter Francoise, spent her childhood in this chalet, making her the natural successor. Today, Fred Monneret has taken over the reins, enhancing the authenticity and hospitality, two of the hotel's most important values. The hotel has 17 rooms, a restaurant, a living-room, a sauna, a ski workshop that turns into a mountain bike workshop in the summer. By the end of January, you can make the most of the sun on the large wooden terrace or the small garden. This chalet, full of history, is regularly renovated, allowing it to combine both authenticity and modernity. A five-minute walk from the town center and 50 meters from the bus stop, this chalet allows you to make the most of the ski resort's animations without having to endure the noisy nightlife. (See map) The slopes are five minutes away and you can ski directly back to the hotel, (depending on snow conditions at the beginning and end of season). ... more   less
