Came to Valence to eat at one of the Pic restaurants and play golf at St Didier and was wowed by this hotel that we happen upon. Very discreet from the outside, no big signs announcing Hotel Victoria, instead, everything is understated, but oh so wonderfully put together in terms of decoration... Just go on their website and look at the photos... Great location across from the train station and its carpark, where you can leave the car for free. A warm welcome at reception and up to our room on the 3rd floor with a window on the interior courtyard. A very quiet room, decorated in a very restful blue black, big bed 180m, great mattress, fluffy bathrobe and towels, a variety of books on the shelves (a shame maybe that there were none in English...!), closets with hanging spaces for long dresses (not so common!), computer jacks at either side of the bed, a desk to work at, bathroom with bath & shower in retro/vintage style... Buffet breakfast (15€) was copious, with freshly squeezed juice, breads, bio jams, cereals, croissants, pains au choc, two different kinds of coffee machines, etc

It's a very good hotel which combines comfort with an excellent location in the town center, in front of the railway station main entrance. The hotel building is very nice both inside and outside and it's very pleasant to sit at the the lounge looking at the street if the music isn't too loud. The railway station underground parking is close to the hotel, at about two minutes walk from the front door, so it's a handy place to leave the car. The bedroom I was allocated is very peaceful, clean and comfortable, especially the bed whose mattress has the adequate toughness to assure a good sleep. The other elements in that room are also convenient for the purpose to which they were respectively manufactured, particularly the desk and the wardrobe. The bedroom is in general very well bedecked. All the said characteristics contribute to make the stay in the hotel very pleasant indeed. The bathroom is also very comfortable though not always warm enough. In any case, different sizes of towels and a dressing gown are there available. The staff members are very kind and helpful though the receptionist who led me to the room was apparently in a bit of a hurry. It'd had been kinder of him to wait a second in order to help me place my suitcase on the stool. The lady who was on duty at breakfast time on the day of my departure was extremely kind. She helped me carry my baggage up to the car and put it into the boot, what I really did appreciate. The breakfast is very good and abundant and the dining room is bright and gay, with views onto the street. There is a buffet at the dining room with different types of food, everything of a high quality. The croissants, for instance, are warm and lightly crusty. One can have everything needed to keep going until the evening. The music used to be very loud at breakfast time, something which clashes with what most people need at that time of the day: calm. I asked the stated lady kindly to lower down the music volume, what she did immediately leaving it at a level at which it was no longer disturbing. The Hotel Victoria is therefore a recommendable place to stay. Living in it can certainly help get all goals one may aim at in his visit to Valence.
