Detailed Reviews
We would have loved to give this hotel a 5 star review, because simply everything about this hotel is fantastic: the friendly and welcoming check-in, the location (just cross one street, and you're in the middle of the city centre and near the Minster cathedral), the super comfy beds, the amazing rain shower, the sound proof rooms, great air-conditioning, etc...
But common, even 10 centimetres extra would have been nice, right ?
So we could at least have stored our suitcases somewhere.
Next time when building hotels make sure to give the construction workers more than just Diet sodas :)

I'm honestly a fan of Motel One. The lobby's are always catered to the city with little extra's. This one had cuckoo clocks and LCD screens that look out over the Black Forest.
The location was superb, staff friendly, rooms comfy albeit small. Storage space is a bit limited but "smart" and if you're here for a short stay with just hand luggage the standard room should suffice. If you're a heavy packer the room will feel small.

modern and clean hotel next to the old town
Rooms are narrow but modern. Bed is good. No minibar. Good bar next to the lobby
Breakfast is good and offers a variety of things
Reserve a parking place upfront in the afternoon parking places are occupied. Parking outside is nore expensive and comes at 3,5€ per hour. The hotek takes 15

Put simply, you literally don't get much for your money here. The rooms are tiny! If there are 2 of you, with bags, you will literally be falling over each other and climbing over bags and squeezing between the bed and the TV on the wall to get past. Not my thing at all. I might have expected such a small room in a big city, but Freiburg isn't exactly a thriving metropolis and short of space! Even breakfast was taken at the bar and sitting where ever you can find a chair, whether that is in the bar on a lounger, or on a rocker in the lobby. Not really comfortable and there was no hot food either. An expensive breakfast considering where you were eating it.
The hotel also boasts parking, but there was none available when we got there and I couldn't even see how you drove in there, even if we could! You'd be driving round the block a few times and still won't see it?!
Overall, this is a quirky use of space, but they have crammed a lot into this hotel and it simply didn't work for me. I just wanted to escape after a night in this place.

Tastefully decorated and well located for touring Freiburg. Only downside is configuration of room. Foot of bed comes within 2 feet of wall, so that only one person can pass at a time. Very tight. Breakfast was great but it’s held in the bar area where there aren’t enough standard tables and chairs and many people have to eat breakfast in cushy easychairs at cocktail tables which is uncomfortable.

If you speak German as a foreign language, know you might get mocked at this hotel. Imagine you go for a croissant and overhear two employees laughing at the foreign guests because they spoke German as beginners. It happened to me, and my croissant lost its taste right then and there. One of the receptionists was also rude. Why it matters? It destroys the professionalism and good work of the other staff members. I believe the demeanour towards guests at this hotel has room for improvement.

Once a reliable option it's gotten worse over the years. I've had a dirty bed with stains. Hygiene is a simple must have. Also won't recommend anyone the breakfast, for that money you get more over at the bakery just in front of the entrance. I've come many times but this was the last one.

Returned to Motel one again because if the great location, right in the middle of town, close to all the attractions. Great breakfast buffet, friendly staff, rooms are small but comfortable, nice bathroom. Visit cut short due to the Corona virus, I will definitely be back hopefully later in the year.

This is a nice, modern facility, but even for the European standard, the rooms are small.
The AC worked well and the staff allowed us to keep an extra card in the power/ac control slot by the door all the time to keep the room cool.
The location is excellent, just a block from the major shopping area and close to other attractions like the cathedral. Several transpiration options are available just steps outside the door.
The staff was great and very accommodating. The included breakfast selection was very robust and tasty.
As mentioned, the rooms are small. VERY SMALL. There were only two small shelves for our clothes so we basically lived out of four suitcases (were were on a two-week trip). You could only have one opened at at time which was inconvenient.

The Motel One in Freiburg is very centrally located. The rooms are clean and serve their purpose.
The staff is very friendly and supportive.
If you go there by car, make sure that you book a parking in their very convenient but limited underground parking in advance together with your room.

Ich glaube, die allermeisten Hotels verlangen heutzutage beim Check-in eine Kreditkarte, sogar wenn man reserviert und schon im Voraus bezahlt hat.
