We are here for 5 days with a possibility of a 6th day. We arrived today went to have an appetitive and a fast dinner over at the most charming little garden in the terrace and cigarette bar. The service is immaculate and when I say immaculate it is because it is immaculate. I asked several things that where not on the menu and for every single thing our waiter and the bartender always had a big smile and a yes we will do it for you no problem! This is what you want when you are in a 5 star hotel. And the Colombi hotel delivers this to perfection. The food from the restaurant was really good I had a carpaccio let me tell you it was the best carpaccio I had never tried and the rest of our food was all really good, presented with style and very very good! Great food. Since we arrived the bell man was very friendly and helpful, the receptionist was very informative, everyone delivered an amazing experience for us. Our room is an elegant,European charm suite. Nice decor, quiet room and very nice turn down service.

the location of the hotel is very central and it is very easy to do the old city walking tour. there is good parking but the old city area has certain car driving limitations. the hotel belong to the leading hotels of the word and the public areas are very elegant. the price is very fair for such a hotel.

Everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Service was impeccable from start to finish, a great Michelin star restaurant in the location, all the little touches down very well. The price of the room and stay was great value. The restaurant good value, and the location fantastic. If visiting the region again will definitely be back.

We were expecting a lot from this hotel but were left a little disappointed. On arrival we were given a room right next to the elevator which you could hear quite clearly. After having asked to change rooms in the next room we were given the air con did not work. Also the wi fi was not working. Not what you expect when you are paying €250 a night!
On the plus side we had a lovely meal in the restaurant with very attentive service. Also we were due to stay 2 nights but a change in the Corona restrictions meant we had to leave after the one night and they were very considerate and did not charge for the 2nd evening. The Piano Bar was also very nice.
The location of the hotel is not as nice as the pictures show on the website also it is opposite a park which seems to have a big problem with homeless people who are loud throughout the night and make walking around feel a little unsafe

As others have expressed this hotel is opposite a park where students and homeless seem to gather all night shouting and making noise. It was very warm for the time of year but the hotel had turned its air conditioning off for the season. On querying this we were told to open the window which made sleeping almost impossible due to the noise from the people in the park which continued until 4am. On entering the room I noticed that there was not any tea or coffee making facility. On asking at reception they seemed surprised but bought a coffee machine but no kettle Coffee was supplied with it but the next day not was not replenished and neither was the bottle of water. The glasses in the room were also dirty with lipstick and fingerprint marks. There is a wellness pool which looks beautiful until you try to use it only to find that it is not heated at all “ in October in Germany” At breakfast I opened the Bain Marie to find brown concealed scrambled eggs and on asking the waitress “tongue in cheek” what this was she replied after contemplating “I think eggs”!!! but they were still not removed immediately For the high price of the hotel I recommend going elsewhere

This hotel is everything one needs during holidays in Freiburg. Unsurpassed ambience, a Michelin restaurant, a beautiful bar and staff that treats one as family. We have been guests at the Colombi for many years and there are certainly no short-cuts on service- always meeting expectations of perfection. Going during the Christmas Markets is a special treat with the Colombi participating through an outdoor wine stube and a "chalet" erected for the holidays in the Colombi garden. Meals at the Chalet are a special celebratory treat during this joyful season. Our family will continue to visit the Colombi as our home base whenever we visit. Next stop- summer!!!

Freiburg is not only on the frontier with Switzerland and France, it is also on the frontline of the culture war in Germany. Completely run down, a dysfunctional street system, with graffiti, junkies, beggers, unkempt people, and remote controlled zombies on stoneage vehicles everywhere. The average survival time for an old-school person with jacket, hanky, proper shoes and cigar is probably less than 5 minutes in the pedestrian areas or on the bicycle lanes ;-)
Colombi Hotel provides a safe space for civilized persons, who want to watch the apocalypse from the street level terrace over lunch, or retreat for a cigar to the humidor room. Food was good. Service very friendly. Public spaces rather deserted. The hardware is in need of a renovation, but who would want to invest in such a downward spiral?

We expected more. The food was ok but the wow affect was missing. We didn’t need the sommelier because we know more than him. We chose good ones. Service was good but they couldn’t answer a few questions about what was being served.

The hotel is ok for a quick stopover. Parking costs and breakfast costs almost doubled our original booking costs so beware. The rooms and lobby seem a little dated.Staff were friendly and breakfast was a little on the disappointing side which i am not used to in Germany .

Classic design like always, top notch service and food and beverage offerings, great drinks, overall an amazing stay! Can't wait to return again when next time in Europe to get to experience the great service again. Centrally located, convenient, only suggested improvement would be access point placement for guest room internet access.

they have indeed valet parking and just in front of the door there are a few public parking lots, which you'll have to pay for. But valet parking works out perfectly, because once you are in Freiburg, you willnot need your car anymore ... Have fun- grwat city, grwat hotel! Make sure not to miss the market around the Cathedral on Saturday!
