We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, close to old town! I’m a light sleeper and asked for a quiet room and I was able to sleep well here. There is a street nearby but with A/C on I couldn’t hear street or hallway noise. There is a door you can close that separates the bathroom from the bedroom which also blocks out any hallway noise. The A/C and WiFi worked great, there was a safe and blow dryer. The staff were friendly and spoke English.

Breakfast was great! Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, meats, cheeses, muesli, yogurt, fresh fruit, baked breads, juices, and coffees. They validated our parking ticket when we checked out so we paid less to park in the underground parking.

Only complaint is that smokers went to the window at the end of the hall to smoke and when we left our room we could smell smoke, but the smell was not in our room. A mini fridge in the room would have nice.

Dear guest, many thanks for leaving your thougts on here. We were happy to read about your experience and we are glad that you had a good overall stay with us. In fact our rooms do not have a mini bar. A vending machine stuffed with cold drinks and snacks conduce to replacement. We would like to share your praise with our colleagues. We hope we can welcome you in the near future. Kind regards and stay healthy Sarah Metzger Guest Relation Mercure Hotel Freiburg am Münster

We stayed for 4 nights during holidays in the corner family room on the fourth floor.

Hotel is well organised, all my reservation comments were considered with room allocation. Also they recognised my gold status with a letter, snacks and drink voucher.

Room had everything we needed incl wine glasses and extra cushions. There was a laptop safe but no fridge.

The view was unobstructed to the hills from higher floor.

Windows open and aircon is working.

We paid 19 euros per person for breakfast on Sunday as everything was shut. It was average quality, rosti was disappointing.

Parking is right under the hotel with direct access from hotel lift.

The only thing preventing me from
giving it 5 stars is temperature of the water in the shower, it was lukewarm. I did not mind it in the summer but it would be an issue in colder months.

We would return as we felt safe, looked after and location is great. Much better suited for our needs than Mercure Panorama was 2 years ago.

Its about 1.2km from the Freiburg Hauptbahnhof. Expect to walk around 20 -30mins. The walkways are all cobbled and therefore it feels rather uncomfortable to drag the luggage for the entire distance. If you like, there is a Tram bus #4 that goes to the city centre- from there its just a short walk to the hotel. The Tram bus stop is on a bridge over the railway. It's a loop service. We decided to walk instead. Head in the direction of the freiburg cathedral- you cannot miss it since it is a very tall structure. The hotel is to the right side. Use Google maps to lead there. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The room is spacious and well designed for long term stays. We were given the highest floor (6) and facing the mountain. Fantastic view! I had my morning coffee in the room and it was such a pleasurable experience.

We tried the buffet breakfast (€22) and really enjoyed the spread. I particularly liked the smoked salmon. I would recommend the breakfast.

This hotel is inside the city centre and very convenient to shop, eat and visit places like the cathedrals. Do note there's a market every morning from 9 to 12 around the cathedral square. You can buy fruits, vegetables, etc. Have your currywurst breakfast from the many stalls there.

I would definitely stay at Mercure Freiburg again in my next trip.

The location is good and the room seems OK. Unfortunately the bar and restaurant has been closed. No room service is available. Normally when an establishment isn't able to offer the services that are advertised, they would offer a reduction in price or at least offer to do something to please the customer. Unfortunately, not in this case.

I asked for an iron and ironing board to be brought up to the room. They have one but they won't bring it to the room. I have to go and get it myself.

I understand that we are in a pandemic but as they are not providing what was offered, they should do something about it.

Dear guest, many thanks for leaving your thoughts on here. We were happy to read about your experiences. Unfortunatelly you were not satisfied with our service. We can understand this and would like to apologize for this. However, this is not due to "not wanting", it is much more an effect of the staff shortage in all areas of the hotel. We very much hope for your understanding. We hope you still felt comfortable. Thank you for choosing our hotel and hopefully visit us again soon. Very well-located hotel, just a few minutes from Muensterplatz and 15 minutes from Freiburg Hauptbahnhof. The rooms are spacious and quiet and have comfortable beds. Sanitized and cleaned bathrooms. Special thanks to the staff, all of them are very kind and attentive. Breakfast was with a variety of options and all were very tasty. Nothing to complain about the hotel, everything was perfect during our stay. All the staff are focused on providing an excellent experience. There is no doubt that this is one of the best options when visiting Freiburg. We recommend it and hope to return soon.

This was our second trip to Freiburg and we opted for the Mercur based on a stay at one of your Berlin properties. We were not disappointed. The rooms are nicely appointed, the breakfast is great and the staff friendly. The location of the hotel, short distance from the old city and the Freiburg Muenster was fantastic.

This hotel was a last minute choice for us since we weren't sure if we would be spending a night in Freiburg on our road trip along the Rhine. This hotel is very average. You get what you pay for at EUR92/night (excl. the EUR13 for breakfast). The beds were cheapish but firm. The room was clean and good sized. The location is great, right next to everything in the centre. The staff was very good with outlining a walking tour of Freiburg. However, their suggestions for restaurants weren't great. Would advise to book via the internet ahead of time for a better deal.

Over the last 2 years, I traveled to Freiburg on a monthly basis for business (sadly that project has ended). I have stayed at the Novotel and the Mercure Muenster. The Mercure is the one I will always go back to. The rooms are moderately sized, with a desk, sofa (some rooms), bed and bathroom. The bathrooms are large and have always been kept clean during my stays. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, always greeting you with a 'Hello' and a smile. The parking costs are a little high, as is the cost of wireless internet service in your room and also the breakfasts. But I do have to say even with the higher cost of these items, they are still less expensive than the same items at the Novotel. The housekeeping staff always did a wonderful job also. As in all of the other reviews, the Mercure is right on the edge of the city center, which makes walking to all of the shopping areas and restaurants very easy. I am planning a 10 day vacation to Germany in July 2012 and the Mercure will be where we will be staying at the beginning and the end of our trip. I can't wait to visit my '2nd home' again!

The Mercure Hotel was very good value and in a good location for exploring Freiburg.

Our room was very clean, well appointed and well laid out so even though it was small, there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was sparkling. The hotel has at least 3 non-smoking floors so as avid non-smokers, we enjoyed clean air in the hotel.

The hotel is well located for walking around old Freiburg, but it is on a noisy ring road, so there is a lot of traffic noise if the windows are open. But with the double glazed windows shut, and airconditioning on, the traffic noise is minimal.

The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, and recommended some really good (and not expensive) restaurants when we asked for suggestions. The hotel has free internet access (one computer in the lobby) for guests. A great service if you are not travelling with a laptop!
