Detailed Reviews
The hotel tried to charge 2 @ 60 EUR = 120 EUR for two small dogs for one night in addition to the hotel charge for a double room, despite the fact that one information page / marketing say 30 EUR per dog and another says 60 EUR for per stay for up to 2 dogs, looking as it is for both. I managed after long and unpleasant negotiation to reduce to 60 EUR for the two dogs, but it was not a nice experience. Having stayed more than 650 nights on 50 SPG hotels, I have never been charged that amount, and the hotel is naming itself dog friendly? We have just on the same holiday staid on more expensive hotels, and they typically charge 30 EUR per night for both. The policy should be clarified more up-front, and more visible.

We had three reservations this past week. This past Thursday, because we were a party of 9, we were invited by one of the hotel Managers (Franc, I believe) to utilize the conference room for cocktails we purchased from the bar, as well as some board games. Later in the evening, our children were flying paper airplanes in the courtyard when they were approached by another Manager (Nick van der Ploeg), who told them to stop (initially, he should have alerted us, the parents). For some reason, Mr. van der Ploeg then rudely demanded that we vacate the conference room which we were using, claiming that it was a problem for other guests. Notably, no other guests were present in the courtyard, the bar or the lobby - not even one. (Ironically, the following morning, our party (of 9) was invited to sit in the conference room for breakfast (apparently, Nick was not on duty)). Needless to say, this is extremely disappointing and not the type of service we have come to expect from Marriott, when we travel domestically and internationally.
While the other staff members were all wonderful and a pleasure to deal with, Mr. van der Ploeg was rude and unprofessional. Perhaps it was lack of experience, or his lack of training, but we were sadly disappointed with the poor level of customer service provided by him.

+ good location directly opposite the train station and just a very short pleasant walk from the city centre (10 minutes)
+ quiet hotel led to a good night's sleep n each of my 4 nights stay
+ helpful staff
+/- breakfast is okay. Help yourself to coffee, tea and juice with unlimited supplies of everything. However, the hot items including scrambled eggs were hard and had obviously been standing for a long time
- Parking is very expensive.

Some other reviewers seem to have different expectations, but for me this was a perfect city hotel and a good representative of the Courtyard brand. The location couldn't be better - 2 minutes walk from the train station and a short 5-10 minute walk to the center of Freiburg. There are a couple of grocery stores and other practical shops next door, so you can easily take care of daily needs.
The rooms were modern, spacious and quiet, with plenty of space for bags, clothes, and a workspace. Great shower and comfortable bed. Housekeeping was thorough and respectful of "do not disturb" signs. As the room had a fridge, we got snacks and breakfast from the store so I can't comment on the hotel breakfast. We did use the bar once and the two bartenders were very friendly and hard-working.
Will definitely stay again, especially as the rates were very competitive for the quality. Only thing to suggest would be that the front desk worker did not recognize us as Bonvoy members, but that's a very small complaint!

Perfectly located hotel in the center of Freiburg. Comfortable large rooms, good bed, shower with good flow of water, free wifi. Close to many restaurants.
Breakfast is good. Parking is available for 16 Euros per night right near the hotel. Very convenient

The lady at reception who checked us in was excellent. The room was clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable. We liked having air conditioning as it was very hot weather and we liked having a kettle in the room.
The location near the station was great and easy to walk into the old town and the bicycle hire place (radstation).
The reason I’ve rated it 4/5 is the very expensive breakfast which was good but over priced and the fact that if they’d stored our hired bikes in the garage they were going to charge 5 euros each a night extra. We just kept them at the radstation for free.

I wanted to rate this a 5 but could not due to one reason - the cost of breakfast was reprehensible. They charge 25 Euros for it. You can get a good full service dinner for that price! As a Titanium member I recieved a 10 Food/Beverage credit (and is one of the reasons I try not to stay at Courtyards where breakfast should be included for elite members). The breakfast was indeed good, but even at 15 Euros, I still felt ripped off.
Having said that, the hotel was nice and it was convenient to the middle of Freiburg and it is very close to the main train station. We dropped our car off in Freiburg so we did not have to contend with parking at the hotel, but there is a public garage around the corner. It isn't as convenient as having a lot on site, but I don't think it would be too bad to park there if you have car. I am not sure of the cost since we did not use it, but I understand it may be pricey.
Mainly, I want to give a shout out to the front desk person who checked us in. I believe her name was "Ha". She was great. Very courteous and professional and she took the time to answer our questions.

Spacious and clean rooms.
A very pampering shower.
For those who care, there is a large variety of channels on TV, including connection to a computer/mobile phone.
Professional and courteous staff.
The breakfast is quite expensive in relation to the value, and in my opinion, not really suitable for the Israeli palate. Mainly based on sausages and bacon.
To summarize, we had a good time

My husband and I just spent 5 nights at this lovely hotel, which has a perfect location, a few minutes walk from the train station. The room was lovely with outstanding service; the breakfast was outstanding with a loaded buffet, and all of the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend this hotel in every way

Perfect for families. We stayed in two rooms with our kids and the rooms had an inner door connection. Beds, bathrooms, everything, very comfy and neat. Clean and in perfect location, just 5 min walk from the old town. Very nice parking place underground, which is connected with reception through a Lift. Friendly stuff, good breakfast, nice decoration.
