My “go to” hotel in Freiburg I’m Breisgau. Rather than stay in the city center, this family run hotel has the charm and quiet you need. Ample off street parking and a brief walk to the local tram (line 1) and bus connections. Good restaurant and fast wifi/internet.

Looking for a Freiburg area hotel with parking (park & forget your car) and convenient walk to the VAG tram network. East checking, tidy and modern rooms, easy to connect and fast enough wifi. So handy, I returned the following week. Stay here and take the tram (line #1) to the city.

We chose this as a suitable hotel to stay in whilst visiting Frieburg as we were travelling by car and as Frieburg is restricted re cars this was perfect. The room was beautifully modern and very spacious with a large balcony. It has a large car park at the rear and the tram down into Frieburg is only a short walk from the hotel for only €2.30 each way. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent we ate here every night and the food was superb. All staff from reception to the lovely waitresses were very friendly.

My wife and I have now stayed at the hotel many times. It's run by Karl and Claudia, and has been in the same family ownership since (at least) 1842. We enjoy cycling and it is perfect for that because of its locality - close to the high Black Forest and also the flatland of the Rhine and the undulating local vineyards, Also, Karl has a lock-up garage especially for bikes. The USA U19 cycle team regularly stay there. For the last two summers we have had two, two-week holidays at the hotel. All the staff are amazingly helpful and friendly, so much so that we now almost feel part of the team. Rooms on the first floor have recently been updated and there are plans to revamp the remainder. Almost all have balconies The restaurant is a perfect setting (inside and ouside, in the warmer months) and the food is wonderful. Amazing.

Excellent Hotel situated just outside the City of Freiburg.
This Hotel had a huge car park.
We arrived by car very early so we had a drink outside while we waited for a room to be prepared. Our server brought us our drinks and a few minutes later brought out our room keys and explained that he had checked us in and offered us a hand with the luggage, great service and very unexpected.

The room was a large room with huge windows which opened very wide, there is no air conditioning in the room. It had the usual German style beds, and a pleasant sitting area, along with a functional bathroom. The room does have a safe, and enough electrical outlets to charge all your devices.

We had Dinner at the Hotel that evening, again we opted for a table outside which was a nice experience, they appeared to be fully booked and we enjoyed a four course menu which was very reasonable, you could accompany this with a glass of wine with each course. Service was superb and a nice mix of fellow diners who were happy to chat, some were staying at other hotels nearby but came here for dinner. Our server whose name was Roy, was happy to advise us on dishes, they do have an English menu card.

Breakfast was again a good experience, with a nice dining room very attentive staff who brought your coffee to your table. You helped yourselves to the ample Buffet which included a hot section of Scrambled eggs with Ham.The usual cold meats and cheeses were available with fish dishes also on the buffet.

One of the nice things about this Hotel is the fact you can leave your car and take the tram , a five minute stroll from the Hotel. this takes you approximately 10-15 mins in to the centre of Freiburg, at a cost of 2:30 Euro.

The Hotel is very convenient for the Motorway and is situated in a very quaint suburb.
The Hotel is Family run and we would not hesitate to recommend it , as the staff and owners were extremely helpful, which made our two night stay very enjoyable

We chose this hotel because we didn't know what to do with the car while visiting Freiburg. And I like beer.

They have a refreshments machine stocked with two kinds of beer. OMG.

They also have an excellent restaurant. One that makes the stay well worth it. And after enjoying the beer garden, why not spend the night? We enjoyed the first night's dinner so much that we didn't bother to look for another place. It's nice to stay somewhere and have a five star restaurant downstairs. (my rating.)
It is an easy flat walk to the train station, taking just 4 or 5 minutes. The hotel is very quiet in the fall but there are street lights. But you can close the windows and draw the drapes if you don't like fresh air. This is also a good alternative because I think Freiburg can be a busy city at night although I didn't personally witness it. It's a big tourist draw and still very much a living city. Open market every day from 7- 2 and it's a college town. But if you do stay in town, there won't be much traffic sounds since it is nearly all pedestrian. We really liked our room (109) because there was lots of space with a loveseat and a very pleasant balcony.
Yes, the building was probably redecorated in the 70's but it isn't tired. carpets and drapes are fresh and lacking that beer smell that an originally-furnished beer hall would have. It is authentic, the family has owned it for generations. Beer Garden - it was already getting cool so I don't know if it was load and annoying in the summer. It is partial covered by the building which probably helps dampen the noise moving up to the rooms. When we were there the inside bar couldn't be heard. There is a second area of beer garden but it's behind a large barn. And its delightful. Just a couple of tables under a large tree and it has a wood burning fireplace. There are lots of unusual farm implements and the main building is painted with some giant traditional murals of farm life.
Breakfast was great but the coffee was weak and brought to the table. But you could get a cappuccino. They had the typical items but also scrambled eggs with BACON.
There are no supermarkets or charcuteries or small groceries nearby. But there is a tiny farmer's stand directly across the street and a boulangerie four doors toward the train station.

Accessibility: There is a small elevator but half the rooms require you to go up 6 Steps but they are wide. There are stairs also to the entrance.
Parking lot is huge and FREE.
Bathroom Size is medium
Shower in tub
Storage shelves ample
Toilet paper strong
Toilet comfort excellent
Tea tray no
Toiletries good
Duvet or Sheet
Extra pillow yes
Beds were not firm with a big bow and I thought I would have to sleep on the love-seat.
Area around Bed was wide open with a small seating area.
Lighting was great with bed lights as well.
Coat Hooks
Desk Attendance was constant, sometimes by the owner. They were very helpful.
View was pretty good even though the area isn't known for it. On the north side we could see a large walk/jog park and woods. To the right was old buildings and an onion domed church.
Bar was always open and a few of the local clubs or guilds used it. And there's 2 beer garden areas.
Big Breakfast
Fantastic chef

When arriving by car, this hotel is very easily reached, a short distance from the Autobahn exit and then entering a quiet residential area. This is just two miles away from the main industrial area of Freiburg, so ideally located for business travellers. Large free parking space behind the hotel. Friendly staff at reception. The elevator to the fourth (highest) floor is very small, I would say that two people could not fit in together with luggage, so walk up the stairs! The hotel is family-run and the owners and the entire personell are very friendly and customer-oriented. Furthermore, this hotel has a great restaurant, an absolute must to try during the stay. And if so, then also go for their own wine with the great food of this region, the 'Schwarzburgunder' (which is pinot noir). Rather odd that the name of the hotel is ' little beer house' but they have an own vineyard with great wines but not an own beer (anymore, although this is how it started far more than a century ago). The rooms are spacious (probably the largest single room I have stayed in during business trips, even a sofa with table in it and a large balcony). Breakfast buffet is excellent, both in choice as in quality. And the price is very reasonable for what the Schweier family delivers with this great hotel-restaurant.

We stayed at this hotel and thought it was nice. It is a little far from the city, so you take a tram in to town. It is also in a weird residential location, so not much in the way of restaurants and activities. It was the only place in Germany we stayed in that had a bathtub which was awesome. The room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. In spite of the funny location the hotel was absolutely redeemed by the restaurant. We grabbed a sandwich in town so we decided to forgo dinner, but went downstairs for wine. The wine menu was not available in English but the waiter asked a few questions regarding our taste in wine and brought us a carafe of very nice local wine. We were so pleased that we decided to try another and ordered the cheese board as well. It was a large board with a good amount of cheese with fruit, crackers, and a huge basket of bread. We were very pleased, especially when a carafe of wine was only about 10 euros. A lot of restaurants we ate in served one glass of wine that wasn't as good for about 7 euros, so definitely a good deal. Breakfast was not free, but at only 5 euros a person was worth it. Especially with the quality of the food available. Everything was fresh and amazing, and so much variety. Easily the best breakfast we found in Germany, at the best price. Finally, the service here was very good. Everyone here spoke enough English to take care of our needs (not common in Freiburg) and was friendly and laid back. I would absolutely stay here again.
