I stayed in this hotel for a night at the beginning of March. The location is superb, and actually was next door to a party I was attending. I chose it over less expensive options in the town because of this location - and hotels where I would earn points / miles, being a very regular traveler (around 100 nights in hotels a year).

The room was simple, but nicely appointed. The bed was huge, and I really looked forward to a good sleep (traveling to Hong Kong the next day).

I checked in, briefly viewed the room, where everything appeared in order, and then went to the party. I returned to the room at 1:30am, noting that the bar downstairs (which acts as reception) was completely dark and shut up, dealt with a couple of pending emails and eventually went to bed at 2am. This was where the difficulties started. I had requested a non-smoking room, and unfortunately upon going to bed I noted that the pillow smelt of smoke. Trying to ignore it, I went to sleep, only to wake up an hour later suffering an asthma attack. The mattress also had that old smoke smell so there was no sleep to be had.

As there was no one at reception (having noted earlier) I then looked for further evidence of smoking in this non-smoking room. In the hallway outside the room, on a low cupboard, there were 3 or 4 ashtrays - one for each of the rooms off the hallway.

In the morning, having showered, I went to reception and explained that owing to the room having been smoked in, I was not prepared to pay the entire amount (I booked a hotel room to sleep - if sleep can't be had, what is the point)? My offer was for 40% of the amount. The very pleasant girl on reception said that she would need to check with the boss, and phoned him. He argued with me, and was ultimately very rude to me, accusing me of trying to scam him (for 35 euros - please!) and calling me an ***hole. He then debited the entire amount from my card used as a guarantee, after I expressly informed him that I was unwilling to pay this amount (as I am within the law in doing).

In summary, a nice and pleasant surrounding, spoilt by the inability to deliver the product as advertised, and by an extremely rude and, dare I say criminal (debiting money from my card after I expressly said that I was not happy paying the full amount owing to failure to meet their side of the contract) manager.

AVOID.

The restaurant is what is expected of a brasserie, but the food is better. The breakfast is excellent if you look for eggs with bacon and potatoes, quite rare in this town. The soups are very good at lunch time, and dinner is above average. The choice is limited but it is a very nice place in the middle of downtown Erlangen.

Worst breakfast ever. Very cheap goods are processed here. Baking rolls a la discounter. Egg dishes cold and puny. No salt, no pepper. Also on request. Service insufficient. No ham, no salami. The slice of ham sausage was of poor quality. Cheese was so ok, nothing special.

We arrived as announced by phone at 17:40. There was neither the key nor the owner I had called in the morning. In the attached restaurant, they also did not know where he was. We had to wait in the restaurant and called him for 50 minutes. He never picked up. When he finally came, and I asked him where he had been, he snapped at me that he only got my call 30 minutes ago. When I expressed my disappointment about this uncertainty and time delay, he got even nastier and said we could write a bad review. The hotel will close in three months anyway. He said we could get our money back and get out of there. Be aware that the club below is also quite loud.

Got there, waited, waited and then they told me they are actually overbooked.
The Hotel they offered me as a compensation was not acceptable. I would not reccomend it at all.

Unprofessional. Unfriendly. Bad.

It was my last night in town and I was staying across the street at Hotel Laimer Hoff. It was after 9pm on a Thursday before an early flight home so I didn't want to go far. I had the small rocula salad and lamb shank dinner. While a little on the pricey side, the food was worth every Euro. Cooked and seasoned to perfection and very well presented. For dessert I was talked into the chocolate soufflé which came out piping hot in just the right serving size and was worth the few minute wait for them to prepare it. Very friendly English speaking wait staff.
Because of the attentive good prep, I can imagine if they are busy you might wait a little while for your food. Buy they had bread, olives, and water to my table right away. Would highly recommend if you're on the area looking for something other than Bavarian and a change of pace from the city and beer gardens.

Absolutely shocking service. We were promised that our rooms were cancelled with no charge by Amena, one of the members of staff, when my family went into the hotel in Germany.
However once we got home we had been charged. We tried to contact them many times which was difficult in itself as there isn't a phone number online. Disgraceful disgusting service as the manager was repeatedly not around to speak to either us or to Booking.com. This is just not acceptable on any level. We would have even been satisfied with them offering to honour our rooms for another trip. But nothing.  This has to be the worst service I have ever received and I am genuinely devastated as this would have paid for a trip away with the family and I won't now be able to take them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND BOOKING.COM TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ATROCITY!

My BFF recommended this place as our Xmas wine and dine venue. I must say it is absolutely heavenly! The service staff were excellent, the food ungodly yummy and the ambience is just amazing!

The attentiveness and the friendliness of the staff are really worth mentioning. They make us feel so at home, serving us warm water every now and then as the weather was cold.

The burger is the simplest food to prepare and yet hardest to impress. I truly enjoyed the burger, prepared with the finest ingredients. The truffle mustard went perfectly with it too.
