Detailed Reviews
Campsite was good, good facilities and atmosphere great. Only thing I would say is would be nice to have a better tent pitch as the grass was worn and ground very hard and stoney. However still a good night if camping. We were next to the lake which was beautiful.

Well managed campsite in pretty countryside. Friendly & helpful German-speaking reception staff. Sites very small and exposed, and a bit muddy, but ablutions top quality - clean, warm & spacious. Fresh brotchen on site. WiFi very slow.

Really good campsite with fantastic hiking or bike riding around the area, and right alongside a nice lake with cafes nearby. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Great for kids - there is a playground and a dedicated baby/toddler bathing room which was spotlessly clean. Nice restaurant, which was cooking a bbq the night we were there.

My wife and I camped for 12 nights whilst on holiday in Bavaria from Sunday 24/05/2015 to Friday 05/06/2015. The site is used by a large number of different nationalities for camping, caravanning and motor-homing. From what we could tell we were the only British tourists on the site. This did not matter though as all the staff were very welcoming and friendly.
The site itself is situated next to the beautiful Dechsendorf lake allowing instant access to the lake and all the cycle and walking trails leading off from it. The site has a number of mountain bikes for guests to use which we used to explore the area. We also used the bikes to visit Erlangen town centre (via cycle path) which is only 7km away hosting the famous Bergkirchweih annual beer festival.
The Camping Rangau site and facilities were kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. There are two very large shower and toilet blocks with plenty of cubicles for guests to use. We never had to wait for either a shower cubical or hot water even during the busy period in the morning. There is also a large, covered washing up area with 10 stainless steel sinks for guests to use.
The onsite restaurant was very reasonably priced offering plenty of Bavarian and Franconian specialities as well as a good range of draft and bottled beers from the Tucher brewery in Nuremberg.
Tips
If camping ask for pitch number 11. It is the largest tent pitch on the site and offers easily enough space for a 4 birth tent, gazebo and a VW Golf. There is also the option to have electricity for those useful things like a fridge, phone charging and mosquito killer.
Between 1300-1500 hours the vehicle gate into the site is closed preventing all vehicles from either entering or leaving. It’s worth planning your arrival outside those times otherwise you will have to park up and wait.
When emailing the site its worth heading your emails to ‘Gabriele Stiles’ as she is a fluent English speaker and was very helpful.
We will certainly be going back.

This was a terrible campsite. Even for one night this is not a campsite to stay at. The touristic places ar too small, we couldn’t fit our caravan (3.90 m) and car on the pitch ánd put the awning out! There was an outdoor concert at the other site of the lake that kept us awake for quite some time. We were going to stay for 2 nights but we left early the next morning.
