Hotel Metropol by Maier Privathotels garners acclaim for its inviting atmosphere, with guests often noting the modern and clean rooms adorned with comfortable beds. Its prime yet quiet location is a hit among travelers, as is the exceptional value it provides despite occasional remarks on the breakfast cost and room style.

Detailed Reviews
We spent a long time looking at hotels in Munich and decided upon this one. Straight away we booked, I noticed that there is no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms and also that you do not receive room service. I e-mailed the hotel to cancel as these things were important to us. They said that they could leave us a kettle in the room and make the room up if we wanted, so we went ahead with the booking.
Now we have stayed it really did not matter about the room service. They did send someone to help, although all we needed was them to take our used towels and rubbish. There is a housekeeping cart in the corridor where you can get all your clean towels anytime you want, this actually worked better for us as we were not waiting on clean towels and could just help ourselves as we needed. I was more than happy to make our own bed too. The issue would have been with taking the rubbish out, although they will help if you ask. There is a coffee machine in reception that you can get your drinks from, although there is rarely English breakfast teabags there. There can also be a wait to use it. The reception area is rather small and can get pretty clogged up of people checking in/out and trying to get to the coffee machine (there is only one machine). We did not have breakfast at the hotel as felt it was a little on the expensive side.
We found the room to be quiet dates, although it could not be faulted on cleanliness, it was absolutely spotless and there was plenty of space.
The location is really good, just a few minutes walk from the underground/station - although this takes some time to work out where you are as it is so big under there!
The room was great, large, perfect temperature with working air con, fully opening windows and super quiet. We could not fault it. The guys on reception were really helpful and welcoming.
Thank you for a great stay.

Hotel's Favourite
Lovely hotel, had a super comfy stay here for 4 nights. The buffet breakfast was perfect, lots of variety. Modern, quirky and cosy, just perfect! It's unique in a way, without room cleaning, but we could help ourselves to extra toiletries and towels. There is free hot tea and coffee at the lobby, which is just perfect. Service was great, warm and polite, from the point of check-in, breakfast, cleaning staff etc etc. to have stayed here!

As always, very friendly staff, who always welcome you with a smile. Also the owner family is always to be found in the hotel and to have for a short exchange. You really almost feel at home here.
The rooms are very clean and based on many details you can see that the rooms are also repeatedly maintained and renewed. My last room (Superior) was a good size and is equipped with a bed, armchair, bar table and a small desk. Safe and small closet was also available. The closet is rather small, but clothes can be hung on a clothes rail outside.
The minibar is empty but running and can be individually stocked with drinks available at the repetition or own. Two water bottles are available in the room free of charge. Room cleaning is not daily for environmental and personnel reasons, but service trolleys are available on each floor in case shower liquid, toilet paper runs out or new terry linen is needed.
A highlight is the breakfast every morning 🥐 which is always on top level. The selection surpasses even hotels with more stars. In addition to the usual areas, there is even a station where you can mix yourself juices from fresh vegetables or fruits. Again, female employees who have been involved for years, which speaks for itself 👍
By the way, if you arrive with an electric car, in the yard there are 2 charging stations⚡️Sign up via a special app, then the rate was quite cheap.

I had a very disappointing stay at Hotel Metropol and feel compelled to share my experience to warn other travelers. The shower drain in my room was clogged, causing the bathroom to flood every time I showered. When I reported this to the hotel, their response was nothing short of dismissive and insulting.
Rather than taking responsibility, they claimed the water was "draining slowly" and even suggested I might have been using "too much water." Do they expect guests to ration their use of the shower or avoid using its full pressure? This ridiculous excuse not only deflects blame onto the guest but highlights a clear lack of proper maintenance and care.
What made matters worse was their refusal to take any meaningful action to address the inconvenience. Their follow-up communication was dismissive, showing no regard for guest satisfaction or the basic expectations of hospitality.
If you’re looking for a hotel that values its guests and maintains its facilities properly, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. Munich has plenty of options, and Hotel Metropol is not worth the trouble.

Dear Guest, it is nice that you have now carried out your threats and have also given us a bad review on all portals. This shows us that we have acted correctly by not giving a discount. As mentioned in our conversation, we have of course apologized for the inconvenience regarding the shower experience. Unfortunately, we had little opportunity to intervene during your one-day stay, as you arrived after 11pm and our reception was no longer manned. Of course, after your feedback and your departure, we immediately sent our housekeeping to the room, who confirmed that the drain was draining more slowly. We never mentioned that you should shower less, but simply explained what the problem was. We very much regret that you misinterpreted our explanation in this regard. As written, we immediately took measures to solve the problem, but as you were only there for one night, you cannot understand whether we acted or not. Nevertheless, a drain in the shower that is a little difficult to drain has nothing to do with the general cleanliness. As can be seen from various other reviews, we attach great importance to this. Just because we don't give a discount right away doesn't mean we're bad. We are always willing to do something good for our guests, but not if we are threatened with a bad rating in advance. It's a pity that we couldn't convince you of our house. We wish you all the best. Kind regards Paula

We had an excellent one-night experience here.We chose Metropol because of the location (near the old city) and because it had parking on-site at a reasonable rate (extra 18E). We found the staff friendly and helpful, the room attractive, and the bed comfortable. The room was on the smaller side but had everything we needed including a mini-fridge. There were plenty of nice towels. The breakfast buffet was nicely presented with a huge choice of good quality foods. Quite a difference from the usual American chain hotel buffet. It was quiet during our stay and we slept well. If you park there, be aware that it's underground and you have to drive up on a metal ramp (one at each parking spot). So, remove your suitcases before you park, especially if you back into the spot and your bags are in the trunk. We compared a lot of hotels before booking this one and found this was an excellent value (room plus breakfast and parking). Friendly staff was a big plus, too! We would definitely stay here again.

Reception: All the staff we encountered were extremely kind, even anticipating our needs without us asking anything. We had arrived a little early to get our room, so we left our luggage in the luggage room before leaving to explore the city and when we returned, the suitcase had already been placed in our room. All the receptionists were able to answer our questions and we never had to wait when we showed up at their reception desk. The establishment can be very proud of its staff.
The room: Nothing to say about the cleanliness, it is impeccable in every way. The decoration is modern and warm, you feel very good there. You will not find coffee/tea service in your room as this service is available at will and free of charge at reception. In the end, maybe it's not a bad thing because the coffee/tea selections are definitely better than the instant coffee often available with kettle service in the rooms. No bottled water but it is not necessary here, tap water is good and consumable. As in Scandinavia, hotels in Germany are equipped with single duvets and not double duvets. It’s cultural, so don’t be surprised. The bedding is good. Perhaps a second, harder pillow for some people would be really appreciated or even essential. This is the only point of improvement that I would highlight to perfect the service. The wifi connection is excellent.
Breakfast: Here again, the staff in charge takes great care. Nothing is ever missing from the buffet which is constantly replenished. The rolls are fresh and tasty. I also recommend the cheese platter, the cooked cheeses are a real treat! The space is a little cramped but the configuration of the building requires it and this explains the distribution of the buffet into several spaces. Ah! Don’t forget to try their pretzels either!
In conclusion: Very well located a stone's throw from the central station, with top-notch staff and service in a warm, cozy setting that is much more friendly than pretentious. We have adored !

I am a 77 year old American traveling with his wife. It is not often that I change my mind after a first impression but I did on this one. I checked in online before arriving but it did not save me any time or trouble at check in. Also, the entrance from the street is not all that impressive. But wow, this place turned out to be great in many ways. First, the staff was VERY helpful several times when we needed help. They printed our train tickets. They reversed the charges for the breakfast when I changed my mind and decided not to do the breakfast. They gave excellent directions to a number of different spots. I don't believe the hotel could have been in a better location. A 2 minute walk to the train station. A few minutes walk to the Ocktoberfest venue. A 2 minute walk to Munchner Stubn, a fine restaurant that we ate at twice in our 4 days stay. A 20 minute walk to Marienplatz. The room was small but well kept and clean and cozy. We were always happy to get back to it. The A/C was strong. We stayed at other places that limited the temp setting or turned off the A/C at night which was very irritating. Not here. We like it cool and were able to make it cool in the room. Bathroom was small but adequate. One negative is that I found the shower somewhat slippery. One really nice feature is that they keep a supply of towels, soap, kleenex and other stuff at the end of the hall and you can go an exchange your towels whenever you need to. One negative is that the floors are split level. same of the rooms are on the floor that the elevator stops at while some other rooms you have to go down a flight of stairs to get to after you get off the elevator. This is rather inconvenient of you have a lot a luggage as we did. They have a nice free coffee machine in the lobby which we appreciated and used a lot. They also sell some snacks in the lobby at prices that are not elevated. Just a great place.

From the moment we entered the Hotel Metropol in Munich until we left, we witnessed hospitality that was second to none. The support at reception was not only very nice and competent, but also personal and attentive. Particularly noteworthy is the accompaniment to the underground car park and the personal address by name, which has become rare these days and is very much appreciated.
As electric car owners, we were pleasantly surprised by the ability to safely charge our vehicle in the hotel's underground car park. This is a service we did not expect and made our stay all the more comfortable.
The breakfast buffet at the Hotel Metropol exceeded our expectations with a large, high-quality selection. Although the breakfast room can be a bit cramped and crowded at peak times, this was more than made up for by the exceptionally good and friendly management of the staff. Their dedication and efficiency ensured that every guest was satisfied and well looked after.
The location of the hotel couldn't be better - located on a quiet side street, but within walking distance of the train station and Munich city center. This offers the perfect base to explore the city without having the hustle and bustle on your doorstep.
In summary, our stay at the Hotel Metropol was a thoroughly positive experience. The combination of excellent guest service, thoughtful amenities for electric car owners, an excellent breakfast menu and an unbeatable location make this hotel a jewel in the heart of Munich. We can't wait to come back!

This was our second stay at the Metropol and we plan to visit again in the future. You can't beat the location as the train station and the Oktoberfest fairgrounds are both less than a 10 minute walk away. The breakfast is fantastic with lots of choices and the rooms are spacious. What really set this hotel apart for us was their response to COVID. We originally booked our reservation for Oktoberfest in 2020 with a non-refundable room rate. As the Oktoberfest was cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the hotel allowed us to move our reservation to 2022. When we couldn't visit in 2022, they agreed to move our reservation to 2023 and only charged us a minor rate increase to compensate for the current rates. That kind of service is what makes a great hotel an exceptional one!

Great you liked your stay at our hotel a lot, enjoyed our friendly and professional service, appreciated the central location and last but not least were happy about the price we ask for your stay. We think the value for money we offer is indeed very fair and of course we are always glad our guests share this opinion. From the central train station u have a wlak of 5 minutes to our hotel.
The ticketprices are available in MVV App, maybe there is a price increase.
Hey Leticia,
the Business category is a bit larger and all roosm does have a balcony. that is the difference. Water pressure is perfect.
I would say safe. The road this hotel is on is quiet. I stayed at another hotel nearby also no problem at all. I saw people talking outside on the road close to another hotel but I think they live there or staying there nobody stared or bothered us. Not much going on around this area other than affordable hotels.
