Guests have had varied experiences at The Westin Grand Munich, with the hotel's service receiving both accolades for its friendliness and criticism for occasional delays. The location is a highlight, offering easy access to key attractions and public transport. While the rooms are spacious, they are often described as needing a refresh and better maintenance.
Opinions on value are mixed; some guests feel the hotel does not justify its high rates. The atmosphere is inconsistent, with some areas being appreciated and others found wanting. Cleanliness generally meets expectations, and amenities like the spa and gym are standouts, despite some feedback about pricey breakfast options.

Due to the hotel on the outer edge of Munich city center, it is about 15 minutes drive to the city center. It was a 20-minute walk by subway (10+10) and a 30-minute tram ride. It is a good hotel if this distance is acceptable. We stayed during Oktoberfest, so it was impressive to see traditional costumes on the ground floor, selling like mass retailers. The breakfast buffet was substantial, with Munich's famous white sausage and porridge. There was a club lounge on the top floor, and there was a special feeling that you could enter the lounge from the 22nd floor by elevator. With sweeping views of Munich city, it's a must-visit during daytime cafe time. In the evening, cocktail time is from 18:00 to 21:00 with hot meals and alcohol service. It helped that there was a salad corner. The rooms are large even in a standard room, with 2-ball water and separate bathtub and shower booth. The desk was spacious, and the hotel was secluded. The temperature of the room was so subtle that there was no temperature indication, so I had to adjust it sensibly. Bottled water x 2, kettle available. 6 coffee and tea bags. There is also a fitness and swimming pool in the basement.

Overall, our stay at the hotel was satisfying, but it fell short of the expectations set by its five-star rating. It was evident that the hotel was not newly constructed, and the cleanliness did not meet the standards typically associated with a luxury establishment. The room had a heavy atmosphere and an unpleasant odor, and the carpet appeared to be in need of a thorough cleaning. We kept the windows open throughout our stay, which helped mitigate these issues. The staff were welcoming and attentive; however, we encountered unexpected additional charges, such as for an extra bed, despite booking for the correct number of guests. We also experienced issues with water dripping from the ceiling and water in the closet during the first two nights. Although the staff were responsive and attempted to address the problem, it persisted on the second night, disrupting our rest. Their reaction suggested that this was not an isolated incident. The breakfast offerings were excellent, with a wide variety of choices. The fitness room was adequate, although some of the machines were not functioning properly. There were great opportunities for transportation around the hotel with taxis on hold outside the hotel as well as tram and u-bahn only a few minutes from the hotel. At checkout, we were mistakenly given another guest's receipt along with our own, which we found unusual and concerning. In conclusion, the hotel did not quite meet the quality and service standards we have come to expect from five-star accommodations, more closely resembling a three-star experience.

The hotel and the rooms are in good condition, you don't notice the age of the hotel. The rooms have carpeted floors, some of which bother you because you can see them over the years, of course, but they are clean and, like all Marriotts, top equipped – nothing is missing. The boxspring beds are my absolute favorites. Otherwise there is everything you need, great restaurant in the basement, super newly equipped gym, a great spa with pool, Finnish and steam sauna, nice outdoor seating and a super club lounge at the top. The front desk staff is always friendly, quick and very competent. I can only think of a few names – Angelo, Leon, Anaztasia ... I can’t remember all the names, unfortunately, but everyone is doing a top job, proactively helpful – example: I had late check-out 16:00 and still visited the sauna after noon. Around 3:00 p.m. I wanted to go back to the room, but the key stopped working. I went to the front desk - there was just land under, lines at check-in. Angelo, who checked me in the day before, obviously saw out of the corner of my eye that I was standing next to the crowd in a bathrobe with my key. He made me a key while serving a guest and put it in my hand – TOP! The Club Lounge at the 23rd is certainly one of the best in town. Apart from the great view over the whole of Munich, it offers a really delicious breakfast buffet, on Sunday even with white sausage and pretzels, always two dinner dishes and super salad buffet. And the service is second to none. Yesterday I wasn't well, a cold got me nasty. For breakfast Putu, the nice Asian girl, brought me fresh lemons immediately, in the evening for dinner Mohammed and Liljana made me a hot honey-mint-lemon ginger drink without asking ... it was like I was at home – 5 stars! Whether business or wellness – the Westin is one of the best addresses in Munich for me in this category. It is not centrally located, but the metro is only a few minutes walk away. Price/performance is top, parking in the public parking garage with direct access to the lobby is relatively expensive at 30 Teuro / night, but usually finds free parking within a few meters. *****

I think it is the only hotel in the world without stairs The stairs are external and to use them you must be accompanied by the consierge to go up and down you must call and wait for someone to go up take you This is a 4-star hotel and the minibar is empty; there are dispensers at the reception for water (not even in a fourth-rate motel)

Westin Arabella Park Ok fair warning to any North American who traveling in Munich Germany during the hot summer months and believe that by staying in a Marriott it will provide working AC. There is none just a noisily fan which pushes air around that never cools off. Germans loathe AC and unless you are in a new Marriott property they do not provide a working AC in spite of what the Marriott web site claims. The Front desk will play the game of having someone come up to “check” but in the end all you get is an offer for a portable fan. We have been through this issue across multiple Marriott properties in Munich. This particular Munich property is more than 30 years old and the rooms have never been upgraded including putting in a working AC system. This Westin just gives you lip service and in the end say it is the best we can do but can we bring you a fan! What is outrageous is that the Marriott properties charge crazy high rates from €300-500 a night for old style rooms and that price does not include working AC on hot humid days which Munich is currently having a lot of. One of the downsides beyond the lack is real AC is that the air blown in from their units leaves a layer of dust everywhere which meant we woke up congested each morning. On other notes for this Westin is that their breakfast buffet use to be excellent with vast offerings. But true to Marriott continued practicing “skimpflation” at all their properties it is just a basic breakfast you get at any 2 star hotel in Germany. The Marriott brand has only gone downhill since the pandemic and their overpriced acquisition of the Starwood brand. The Marriott brand motto should be “how much can we charge you and how little value can we provide you as a customer during your stay”. In the end if it were not for my husband’s insistence to stay at Marriott for the future free stays I would find another brand to frequent. On a positive note the staff throughout the hotel are lovely people and really try to be pleasant and helpful even though they have to put up with management cutbacks.

Goodness me this really isn't a very good example of the Westin experience. The place is a soulless barn on the outskirts of Munich.
The bell hop waited for me and my taxi driver to unload the bags before offering help - I turned this down
I waited in line for a while to checkin but that process went quite well.
The hotel is tired in general and the room is tatty.
The club (don't waste your money -- the Club is a total rip off) has a coffee machine - no snacks, or sodas and no greeter or atmosphere. I was assured that if I stuck around it would liven up but I would rather pay for drinks when I want them than sit around in a desolate "club" waiting for free drinks to arrive.
The bar was hopelessly understaffed but the Duty Manager - Midaela Bauer - was working very hard herself serving drinks to help the staff cover the demand.
Since I tried to call housekeeping for urgent laundry for a meeting the next day but no answer. Sigh....so dropped off laundry at reception.
Went to pick up laundry the next morning - "sorry Sir no laundry in Germany on the weekend". Not true by the way - a laundromat 3km from the hotel is open. Lots of shrugging and general unhelpfulness from the Front Office. Thank goodness Midaela and the trusty Eileen Carvallo who runs the restaurant (and I would select to run the entire place) stepped in and put my clothes in teh washing machine herself.
Details: - Shower - cannot turn the main shower head on - the switch cannot be "switched" - Laundry - see above - total shambles - AC - "warmish" was the coldest I could get to - Coffee/minibar - broken Nespresso machine with no capsules, empty mini bar
There seem to be two decent members of staff in the whole place - the Duty Manager Midaela Bauer and the Restaurant Manager Eileen Carvallo running the whole place by themselves.
Basically a total shambles - I won't be back...there are many better hotels in Munich at this price point

I have given this hotel a 3/5. My rating and review do not reflect the property or the staff, but a simple policy.
First of all, the staff were great. The property itself is what I would expect from a Westin bannered hotel. It was clean and very luxurious.
We went to Munich for the Christmas Markets. The hotel’s location is within walking distance from the Arabellapark U Bahn (U-4) which is the eastern terminus of the U-4 line. 6 stops from Marienplazt or about 20 minutes.
We stayed on the executive and had a beautiful view of Munich and the Bavarian Alps. The view was phenomenal.
We had access to the executive lounge and the staff was very helpful. There was a Romanian lady who was particularly kind to our son. The food was excellent and the view with a glass of wine made the evening.
The pool and spa staff were all excellent.
Now for the policy. We have a 10 year old son who is the height of a 13 year old. Every other hotel chain that we use have always had a separate bed for him without charge. I realize it is stated on the website, but I feel this is nothing but a cash grab. We were quoted €60 per night ($90 Canadian) for a cot. I would be more accepting of a flat €60 per stay charge but per night is excessive and a child certainly doesn’t utilize enough of hotel resources to justify that charge. I have stayed at other banners and chains in which we weren’t charged for an extra bed for a minor child.
With that said, I would like to reiterate, the physical property and staff were all excellent, this is about the policy.

Room Tip: Don’t bring your children if you’re on a budget. This is most likely the chain’s policy and not...

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your great feedback here on the Tripadvisor online portal. We would also like to thank you for taking the time to share your impressions with other travelers. It's great to hear that you really enjoyed your time in Munich. We understand your confusion regarding the extra charge for the roll-away bed but unfortunately it is a Marriott policy that we have to adhere to. I have already shared your feedback regarding the additional cost for the roll-away bed with our management. We would be delighted to welcome you back to our hotel in the future Kind regards from Munich Katrin Hofmann Guest Relations Manager

Those wacky Germans are such jokers. A lovely big hotel with lovely friendly staff in quiet office/apartment Arabellapark in Bogenhausen convenient to trolley and subway lines to town. Perfect for kids who love to ride trolleys and scamper through the huge inviting lobby.
And the bathrooms alone are worth the price of admission. Double sinks, separate tub and shower, (see pix) but be careful that the shower wand is pointed to the side or you get a faceful ice water when you turn on the shower. Best of all is the (ahem) throne. Where else can you admire yourself while solving all the world's problems? (See tasteful pix.) I told you these folks have a sense of humor.
As a Marriott elite I got upgraded but turned it down to get a room next to my family. The Lounge, however is very worthwhile with stunning views of the city, lots of drinks, good German-style breakfast, and light supper. Your room key gets you elevator and lounge access, but the keypad takes its sweet time deciding to acknowledge you. I got frustrated and a German businessman on the car with me said I had to be patient while the elevator made up its mind.
Underground parking belongs to the city but can be billed to the room. 30€ per day is cheaper than New Orleans, and the front desk gives you a ticket to exit whenever you want to come and go, but you're riding the trolley or rental bikes anyway, right?

The location of the hotel is pretty fine. It is good accessible via the highway tram and metro and located in a little bit outside the city centre in Munich. The surrounding is mostly. characterized by office buildings and a little park next to it. The hotel itself reminds me of the charming ladies for you is large, modern and beautiful. When you take the elevator up to the rooms, the floors are still spreading the charming 80s and 90s style and the rooms are similar. To set that there is everywhere carpet, and the furniture in the rooms have the wooden style of this period of time the air conditioning was working with a nice clattering sound. The hotel bar is nice and modern and has an open concept and the adjacent Biergarten at the lower floor as the typical rustic environment. The prices are typical for hotels. Little bit has a higher than usual but you have in walking distance, different possibilities to dine and wine or even do some grocery shopping.

Westin Grand - a continuous descent ... - we checked in on 07.09.2024 at 3.30 pm, i.e. we wanted to. Two girls from Asia were at the check in - found nothing, knew nothing, the check in took a beaten 40 minutes and was an imposition. We then had the keys for a room in the 11th. After three quarters of an hour, the floor was received and opened the door - but this was then closed by 2-3 girls from the inside. The cleaning staff had laid down on the bed and floor of the room to rest, where they slept towards the end of the day. You stood tired and left the room. There it smelled stale, after several people had slept there for several hours. We moaned this - again it took 40 minutes for someone to come along who said "OK, in such cases we always get "stink spray"". All in all, a Pension with a family connection rather than a 5-star hotel. After all, you also pay EUR 250.00 for double rooms there. The rooms are used up, in the bathroom all socket covers fall off, the shower gels are dilettantically glued to the wall with double-sided tape and fall off - ... we have been there about 20 times now, but never again.
