Detailed Reviews
The lobby is strange, lots of weird sculpts make of sticks and odd bigs of wool when you walk in. The lobby is also very outdated but does that really matter? So many hotels put lots of money into heir lobbies and the rooms are basic.
The staff were friendly and they told me they had given me an upgrade. The room was a mini suite, very basic, cold atmosphere but practical. The bed was comfortable with good linen and the shower was powerful. They had large pumps of shampoo etc which is much more sustainable although I bring my own.
There was a fridge in the room and they say "Free minibar" which is 2 beers and 2 bottles of water!
Breakfast was good, lots of choice.
I suppose it was just the decor and the "cold" room that put me off.
It was an easy train journey into town and also to the Messe where I was working.
If anyone is looking, there is a good vegan restaurant 4 minutes walk away and a zero waste shop nearly next door.

Thank you for being our guest. We are pleased that you have registered the small amenities of the hotel and of course we haven't overlooked your comment regarding the lobby design. We always try to change the atmosphere in the lobby for example with real floral decorations and certainly we won't meet everyone's taste here. But maybe you will like the decoration next time you are our guest !? We look forward to your next visit!

We arrived early before our room was ready and greeted by very disinterested staff. After some painful conversations, were allowed to store our bags in the luggage room. When we returned later after spending the day at the Christmas markets (which are wonderful but busy) we were greeted by much friendlier staff who checked us in quickly.
Room was more like an apartment, with basic cooking & living facilities. Everything looked relatively new, clean & in good order.
Bed was comfortable & shower was nice & powerful.
Only issue being that our room was over the main street outside so was noisy in the morning, as was the constant stream of guests heading to the breakfast room in the morning which was at the end of our corridor. Can't comment on the breakfast as we were on room on basis.
Good free WiFi, not too far from city centre, about 15 - 20 min walk, or easy on the metro.

You know the saying: "All is well that ends well? And if it's not a good thing, it's not the end!" ? Thank you for the review. We really like to apologize for the first impression you got arriving at the Living Hotel Nuremberg even if we do not know the situation at the time you arrived at the hotel that gave you the mentioned impression. But we are happy to read that at the end, you enjoyed staying at Nuremberg and in our Hotel. We hope you collected a lot of nice impressions at the famous christmas market and next time, just tell us that you prefer a room far from breakfast area. We always try to fulfil the wishes. Thank you for staying at Living Hotel Nuremberg

... as at first sight everything seems to be perfect. The location is good, a subway station is nearby, you can park free with your car near to the hotel or pay 12 Eur / night for a garage. Rooms are big and clean, with real good and practical design regarding the furnitures and using the space.
However the sleep quality was bad due to the uncomfortable mattresses, the bedsheet was noisy and the room temperature was too hot.
So at the end as per our experience its just an average hotel.

Booked via booking at a fare rate of 56Eur per night. The room was so cosy, with a comfartable kitchen and balcony. Although we stayed for private weekend, recommend for Business trips. A few minutes away from the tram or the uban station and great stuff. Would definitely come back if around again, or check out in other locations in Germany.

Comfortable stay of 2 months. The hotel staff is very friendly and approachable.
I would recommend this for longer stays in Nurnberg.
Pets are also allowed here which is an added advantage.
Gostenhof U bahn station is at walkable distance

Breakfast expensive and receptionist asian girl is kinda rude. I couldn’t find heater in my room and feel cold all the time. Parking fee also extra even you are the hotel’s guest. Wish i can type any good point but nothing from my side. If you have another options, please go for it.

I have stayed here several times. Unfortunately, the quality of the rooms is a matter of luck or only some rooms are quite nice.
I have repeatedly been given very noisy, dirty rooms facing the street. I was not offered a quieter room on request. This was only possible for an extra charge.
Very customer-friendly. I will book other hotels for my stays in Nuremberg in the future.

Really recommend. I was there for a week, during the Messe. Its close, just a short train ride away. Its really comfortable. The breakfast is very good, staff are polite and helpful. Only minus is lack of English tv stations!!
I intend to stay here next year too

We just stayed here at the Maximilian. The rooms (116-117) were 2 room suites. They could not have been better. The hotel has a sauna that we did not use. We paid 86 euros for the wine and dine deal. This included dinner, wine, cocktail, and a buffet breakfast. The dinner was limited to three choices. Overall and excellent bargain. The hotel is about four blocks to the old walled city. We walked to the Christmas markets located within the old city. I would stay here again.

+1
We arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon & even though the reception area was fairly crowded & busy, the staff kept things moving efficiently & we were soon in our room.We had booked a maisonette room & were well satisfied with that choice. The living area was spacious & well equipped with tv,cooker, fridge, microwave, sink, table, chairs, wardrobes, kettle, tea & coffee. The fridge had complimentary bottles of Becks beer & water which were topped up daily. We had a balcony with table & chairs which would no doubt,be nice in the summer but unfortunately due to the snow & cold that we arrived to,we didn't get much opportunity to enjoy it.The bathroom was a little smaller than i had expected but still adaquate enough for a weekend stay with shower, shower gel, hairdryer & plenty of towels. The sleeping area was above the living area & consisted of 2 single beds pushed together,a wardrobe & a desk. There was a sofa-bed in the living area if required.Breakfast was good & plentiful, continental buffet style with tea, coffee, juices, yoghurts, pastries, cereals, eggs, cold meats, cheese etc.We ended one night at the hotel bar & found it a good lively place to enjoy the excellent Bavarian beer & humour of the locals. The hotel has 2 lifts & a secure underground car park(charge extra)
We found all the staff to be friendly & cooperative & all spoke excellent english.
Out & about
We found the hotel to be well situated for exploring the city, located just a short, easy stroll from the old historic centre. The Planetarium was just around the corner & the old city walls, close by.We visited the Hauptmarkt where the massive Christmas Market was in full swing. The Frauenkirche & Schoner Brunner in the square were stunning. The Castle was more than worth the uphill walk to get to it as the views from it were superb. The Churches of St Lorenz & St Sebaldus were also worth spending some time at,both inside & out.If you didn't fancy walking everywhere there are a few metro stops close by to the hotel which was handy for us as we used the metro to get to Furth on the saturday night of our visit.
We spent pleasant time sampling the local brews, just around the corner from the hotel in The Kartoffel Restaurant & at Cafe Pintus & at Enchilada Mexican Bar/Restaurant & as i have already mentioned,at the hotel bar.We also visited the George Inn which was not the most welcoming or atmospheric establishment that i've ever visited & is definitely not a place i'd visit again. We had a superb meal in a newly opened restaurant, located very close to St Sebaldus Church, called Burggrafenkeller, a place i most definitely would visit again.
