After reading the reviews on this hotel, I thought that we were able to enter a pastoral paradise. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We got in a taxi at the train station and gave them address. Instead of driving through the beautiful countryside, we drove through the suburbs of Nuremberg, down a little alley to the hotel. Big woops. Everything else that the other reviewers is true. The hotel is clean, comfortable and nicely furnished; the food is excellent; and the staff is impeccable. All that is good, but you need to understand that you are booking a hotel in suburban Nuremberg, with no air conditioning.

Booked via their website.
Check in: Personal, easy going, all fine
Check out: All fine

Room: Standard hotel room, nothing real special. Clean, good smell. good beds.

Breakfast; Absolute a high light. There aren't so many places in the world where you find such a breakfast. Excellent food, you can ask for literally everything - they try to make it happen.
What I like most: It is a perfect place to hang out at breakfast, reading old fashioned a news paper, enjoy your coffee/tea - just a great breakfast.

Location. Outside of city, perfect for running at one "Main Donau Kanal".

Summary: While rooms are ok, the place lives from the restaurant. Breakfast is awesome. Dinner, too. Location perfect for a morning run. I love it

I've been coming to this hotel for years now for holding seminars and what I love the most & why I always come is the ultra nice, helpful & friendly staff! Everyone in the hotel is there for the guest with a smile and readiness to help; from the cleaning lady's to the reception staff. Also, the rooms are very cosy & super clean. The banquet service is excellent too. Nothing is missing. The food in the restaurant is just incredible too - the chef is loving the food & one feels it while eating. Absolutely recommending it!!!

We arrived in Nurnberg after a long train ride from Vienna and went to TI across from the Hauptbahnhof to book a room. We told the agent we wanted a quiet place outside the very busy town center. She recommended the Romantik and booked rooms for us. It was our introduction to the Romantik family of hotels. Our rooms were amusingly contemporary with a white decor accented by marine blue, a round bathroom with a round tub and the sturdiest plumbing fixtures I had ever seen. Clearly the designer worked outside the box! It was spotless and attention to detail was evident. The rooms were quiet, the beds heavenly. The view from our room was a pastoral paradise - farmers' fields and in a distance train tracks which carried small trains to unknown destinations. Service was impeccable. BEWARE!! The gasthaus on the property is very expensive but worth every cent. We had the best food on our trip. Sumptuous breakfast buffet included in the price.

For a meeting in Fürth I decided to use this hotel. Which was about a 10 km drive from my appointment, also I guess about the same to the inner-city of Nürberg. Hotelrooms are spacious and have a very nice bathroom. The first room I got was quite noisy due to a fan that kept running but the problem was solved by givin me another room. Wifi is stable but not that fast, it took a while to get connected with my office home.Dinner is served in the original guesthouse and is of top quality (and on the higher end of prices) breakfast is in the modern breakfastroom, it is buffet style with a lot to choose from. However the ambiance in this room did not give me warm feelings. All in all the stay was a pleasure. the value for money on the room was very good, I paid about € 107 for bed and breakfast. O before I forget, the hotelroom was in another building as the breakfastroom and the guesthouse was in a third building. that means you have to go outside to get to either of these places which means especially in winter that you have to put on a jacket each time.

Breakfast could be better (no cappuccino / bread rolls not great)
Overall ok, but given the location (about 30 minutes by tram to city centre), price could be a little better (value for money I would give three out of five).
Personnel could be friendlier.

The hotel is located about 5 km away from the city center which is both nice (very serene and quiet area) and annoying for not being able to just walk to the old city.

The picture of the hotel is the old guesthouse but today it's mainly the restaurant (which has a michlin star as of 2019 but I am not sure it's justified) and most rooms are in an adjacent regular building.

The ”modern” hotel actually has a transistor in the room so that's a loose definition but the room are large and spacious with a large bed. No AC in the room but only a small fan

The bath/shower is problematic for anyone above 1.6m as there is no way to hang or hold the shower head above your head so you have to bend or shower sitting down. This must be fixed! The pressure of the water is fantastic.

Breakfast was nice with a decent fresh variety. I would add a few more vegetable besides tomatoes but that’s my Mediterranean diet.

WiFi worked well in the room and around the hotel.

For the runners among you, 2km away you can find the heinberg area which is a great place for a nice nature run.

We stayed at the Guesthouse Rottner for 4 nights, choosing it for its quiet location, 4 star rating and free parking. The old stand alone house is actually a gourmet restaurant, with two adjacent buildings forming the reception, conference facilities and breakfast room. The accommodation itself is in the salmon pink modern annex, which is over the road. The room was large and clean with a circular bathroom that has a long clear pane of clear glass between it and the bedroom, which seemed a little out of place. The bed was extremely comfortable with two single duvets and extra pillows if needed. The free WiFi reception was also fast and reliable.

Given its rating we were surprised that there were no tea/coffee making facilities, however the hotel will happily provide a pot of tea at Euro 5.00 or a coffee at Euro 6.50. Bottled mineral water is provided on a daily basis in the fridge, and a small confectionery treat is placed on each pillow by room service.

We found all the staff to be pleasant with those on reception speaking good English. There was a good choice on offer at breakfast most mornings however on the last day (Friday) they ran short of bread, butter, hot water and other essentials with more than an hour of breakfast remaining and had to be prompted to replenish them.

Parking in Nuremberg is not a problem unless there is a major event taking place, however we chose to leave the car at the hotel and use the U-Bahn. It’s a 10 to 15 minute walk to Gustav-Adolf Strasse U-Bahn station, where the ticket machine has a multi language touch type menu. If feeling more energetic you could hire bikes from the hotel at a half day rate of Euro 2.50 or full day at Euro 5.00.

In summary we enjoyed our stay but the lack of tea and coffee making facilities together with breakfast on the final day was a little disappointing.

We loved our stay at this 200 year old family run hotel in an oasis of calm outside the city. We stayed 3 nights as we were guests at a family wedding held in Hotel Rottner. On our first evening our al fresco supper in the peaceful and tranquil beer garden was wonderful with delicious 'small plates' to start and washed down with the 'house white wine' they personally select each year (which in 2017 is very good!). Great service from very personable, friendly staff who speak excellent English. Our room in a modern block opposite the restaurant was spacious, very well furnished, and had an amazing bathroom. Breakfast is a relaxed affair with a great selection of cold meats and cheeses, hot food to order, and a bottle of fizz open and waiting! The atmosphere at Hotel Rottner is so lovely with quaint, picturesque buildings sitting comfortably alongside a high end hotel. Whilst we didn't eat in the restaurant the wedding breakfast was a great indicator of their fine dining. We loved our stay with family and new friends and the setting for a small wedding was idyllic.

If you don't have a car the hotel has bikes but road into city was busy and I wouldn't feel comfortable riding. There is a nearby bus stop. Tickets can be purchased at reception.

My room was dated but spacious and reasonably well appointed. Very quiet.

Breakfast was included. A basic but adequate range of food. Service a bit ordinary. Sign saying eggs could be cooked to order but this didn't seem to be encouraged. Felt as though I would be imposing if I asked. I think the staff enjoy a bit of a chat in the kitchen.

In contrast, I had dinner at the hotel restaurant (closed on Sundays). The food was excellent and very well presented. The meal was moderately expensive but well worth it. Service was first class.

Public areas (including the restaurant) were quirky with a lot of unnecessary decorations (thankfully not in the rooms). Makes the place look a bit old fashioned. The restaurant and public areas need a serious dose of decluttering and some contemporary updating (all a matter of taste, I guess).

When checking in the young receptionist seemed to be new to the job but was very helpful and informative. Checking out was a bit different. Desk unattended. Rang bell, waited and waited until receptionist finally emerged from the kitchen (a mature lady different to the young person who checked me in). I think I had to wait until Madam receptionist finished her breakfast or coffee or whatever. Lucky I wasn't in a hurry.
