More like a self contained one bedroom apartment than a hotel, this little place offere fantastic value for those who don't expect anything more than a comfortable bed, cleanliness and a great location in Berlin. On arrival guests are given their own key to the building and their individual apartment enterance and pay upfront. After that, unless you have any...

I was delighted with this little place. Knowing Berlin well and really just in need of a comfortable, clean and well-located place to crash I couldn't have been happier. It has everything you need and was incredibly good value for money. Perhaps not for those who don't know the city well and need to ask lots of questions, as this...

We loved our stay at Maedchenkammer: great location, clean and practical. The shower was powerful, there was a table & chairs, fridge, watercooker and some basic crockery. The neighborhood is full of fun places to eat (White trash on Shoenhauser Allee), drink (day: Prater biergarten on Kastanienallee, night: Prassnik on Angermuender Strasse) and go out (Roter Salon club on Rosa...

We stayed in a triple room (three single beds) for 55 EUR per night, for three nights. This was great value and the pension is located in an interesting neighbourhood a short walk from U-Bahn Rosa-Luxumburg-Platz). The room was large and bright with big windows overlooking the street and high ceilings. Everything was provided to us clean and the beds...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
