Just returned from my second visit to Berlin and my second stay at the Pension Galerie - after four years. I'm happy to again highly recommend the Pension for visitors to Berlin who are looking for good value, service, and location in their accommodation. Angelika is a welcoming and helpful host. I was able to check in early (I know...

I stayed 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The room was large and very comfortable with a good sized bathroom. It was warm and even with the window open, my room was nicely quiet. The breakfast was excellent. Angelica was very helpful with information and how to find my way around. She was also very flexible about my late...

Quaint pension a few blocks from Checkpoint Charlie, convenient to the metro. Large, clean rooms and a nice breakfast. Wi-fi was good. Owner-host Angelika will tell you stories of life in East Berlin and share her uncle's homemade jams and jellies!

We arrived early from the states - Angelika was able to accommodate early check in - which was wonderful as we needed a nap. The hotel is on the second floor of a large building - with (i think) 5 rooms and a large eating area. We stayed for three nights in a back double room with a window that...

My husband and I stayed in room 12 for four nights and found our room to be spacious, very private and beyond spotlessly clean. The bathroom was modern and appeared to be brand new. Wifi did not work in the room but was very good in the common areas. A minor inconvenience. Angelika, the owner, was extremely helpful. The set...

Pension Galerie was a beautiful space very near many attractions in the city of Berlin. The room was large, and Angelika is very accomodating, and runs a very clean, quiet space. The breakfast is fine, with fruits, breads, yogurt and meats and cheeses. The en-suite bathroom was large. It was a great space to come back to for sleeping and...

I knew I had found a great place when I first contacted Angelika with some questions about Pension Galerie in advance of a possible booking. When I mentioned concerns with allergies, she was conscientious to ask about what she can do to accommodate me above and beyond my inquiry. Upon my arrival, Angelika was enthusiastic to show me to my...

Nice and modern and in a great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. We found the apartment very tight for room (furniture didn't quite fit the room to be comfortable) and the shower flooded the bathroom each time used. The flooding may be a one off situation

I emailed Angelika about her location, who responded right back with full information needed to book the room. We were in full communication throughout our trip, which was very helpful when we were delayed at the airport. Angelika met us at the door, walked us to our room, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Her breakfasts were...

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.

“All rooms would be good, although I suppose that the ones facing the inner court would be quieter. However the pension is located on a very quiet section of the Hedemannstrasse.”
