I arranged a surprise trip to Berlin for my boyfriend's 21st birthday back in May, have only just got round to reviewing. Having to organise this on my own I searched so many hotels in Berlin on trip advisor to try and get an idea of where would be good. Ended up choosing the TRYP because of the value for...

We stayed 9 nights and the hotel is with modern decoration and newly refurbished. It is truely a clean, good average budget hotel with no high expectations.Well it is not very close or in the hearth of main attraction at all but having to walk 25 minutes inorder to reach it.The hotel area is in reconstruction so nothing attractive at all.The hotel...

The hotel has a fantastic location for traveling in Mitte. The metro station is a short walk from the hotel which is a lot better then spending money on the expensive taxis. Checkin was smooth and the staff at the hotel are very helpful. All the staff spoke english and they were able to help in pinpointing attractions on the...

Very convenient hotel if you need to work in the area. Good breakfast. Nice hot sauna. The staff is very helpful and flexible. I was able to check in early in the morning before going to work. Prices are quite reasonable. The only problem is internet. Free internet gives you 50 Mbytes - yes that low. If you pay you...

Convenient location, right in front of a subway station. But be aware that there's massive construction work going on at the hotel street in different points, which caused for limited space and traffic, as well as very poor choices for eating near the hotel. Room is fair, but the refrigerator simply does not work. I have complained about it the...

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights while in Berlin. It was a very nice, modern, trendy hotel. We learned the hard way that the window being open/shut was tied in to the air conditioning. The air wouldn't turn on if the window was open. It was a little ways away from what I would consider...

Terrible hard beds and pillows where to hard - Even that I had paid for breakfast the waiter kept on asking me if I already had paid. The free Wi-Fi Internet is not good enough. No coffee-maker in the room.

Location (8/10): Very convenient. + Near Naturkundermuseum metro station. + Friedrichstrasse station, which is the closest station to the museum island, is 2 stops away. + There is a convenience shop nearby, which we bought water from. Rooms (8/10): Nice. + Relatively spacious, new and modern room. + Mattress and sheets are OK but not the best. There are blinds...

New and Posh hotel. I have stayed in Tryp hotels before I usually enjoy my stays. The hotel had a pretty great location and was very close to two convenient stops. Overall the stay could have been better had the staff been a little more pleasant. We pulled teeth to get information about tours, recommendations, city/metro maps, etc. I am...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
