It might not have the glass and glitter of bigger hotels but the Tiergarten offers the warmest of welcome from cheerful and helpful staff. The rooms still retain the high ceilings of the original building but have been partitioned to increase the capacity for guests. The on-suites require some negotiation in order to use the facilities, they're tiny and cramped...

I stayed here with a party of pupils in April. I think it is a great hotel with a reasonably central position, big rooms and an excellent breakfast. I wouldn't dream of coming here on a romantic weekend but if I was part of a big family then it would suit me down to the ground. If you plan a...

We used the Tiergarten with a tour group. Our room was quiet but small. No A/C so it would have been intolerable in summer. We had a problem with our safe deposit box - it wouldnt open - and it took ages for staff to come and open it with the master key. Seemingly a chambermaid had held on to...

The hotel is on Alt Moabit and only about 100m away from the bus stop “Kleiner Tiergarten” where the TXL bus (Airport Tegel to Alexanderplatz via Central Train Station) also stops - very convenient. I had room 47, which is to the rear and at the very end of the corridor (and on the 2nd, not the 4th floor), so...

This is a small "boutique" hotel, located on Alt Moabit Rd., a 5 minutes walk from the Turmstrasse UB station. The hotel itself is in an old building which was renovated, so that the rooms and bathrooms are modern, but the staircase and dining halls still have the heavy woodwork of the original building. The room was average size, but...

My wife and I stayed five nights at Hotel Tiegarten in September. The hotel building is over 100 years old. We had a small room on the third floor overlooking the courtyard. The room was simple and clean, washroom was small, bed was firm, pillows were very soft, we asked for extra pillows for support. The buffet breakfast was very...

I travelled to Berlin last July with my partner and his family. We had our own, large double room with mini fridge. The room was cleaned to a high standard. The hotel was conveniently located near to an underground station. The staff could not have been more helpful. We found Berlin quite tricky to navigate but they were always willing...

Staying in Moabit

Neighbourhood Profile
Moabit
You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most central neighbourhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof (central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life has traditionally been relaxed and a bit slower here. But the tone may soon be changing. Reasonable housing costs and proximity to city centre are attracting more young Berliners and international visitors. This interest is encouraging new bars, cafés and nightclubs, making Moabit a candidate for most up-and-coming neighbourhood in the city.
