I stayed in this hostel with two friends in one of the three bedroom rooms for four nights. The hostel is situated in a lovely residential area, surrounded by many nice cafes and restaurants and very close to tram and train station. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. The toilet/shower facilities were well maintained. The reason I have rated...

Stayed here this fall with three school aged kids, and the apartment was perfect. Great area with lots of food and a fantastic playground with a sunken pirate ship to climb on right across the street. The dining room had everything we needed for basic meals, the shower was hot, and we were able to come and go with no...

Cheap price for small budget really good! Located near everything and renting a bike at good price! And I've met cool people mostly around my age! problems: bed bugs discovered (but i saw the guy in the office changing people room and reserve an exterminator), shower curtain really dirty and the cleaning in general is not so great.

We stayed in the private apartment style accommodation, with one large bedroom (containing double bed plus two sofa beds), dining room area, kitchen area and private bathroom. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bathroom was pleasant. The kitchen was pretty well equipped and had basics like washing up liquid, rice, salt/pepper... The decor was a little tired, but...

Myself and two friends stayed here for three nights and weren't expecting much, but were still sorely disappointed. We were offered to pay a deposit to rent padlocks for lockers in our room, however even when they were 'locked', they did not work, and when asked about this by other guests in our room, the staff replied with a grunt...

I didn't like it much except for the fact that I met great people there. The wifi doesn't reach the rooms and I couldn't charge my phone because the sockets were too far away. Not all the bathrooms worked and the sheets weren't as clean as you'd want them to. The showers are fine; you have to keep pushing the...

The place itself is fine. The pillows and blankets in the dorm might put you off a little as you step into the dorms as they are pretty weathered but the sheets and stuff are super clean so it's fine. There is a nice common kitchen with a big fridge and they even got an oven for that frozen pizza...

We chose this hostel because it offered one of the cheapest private rooms at the time we were visiting. For out money, we got an exceptionally large room that actually had a dining table and kitchen as well as en suite. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room was a little scabby in terms of the furnishings, sofa stains, and...

We stayed for two nights. Unfortunately we just came from the Poland, Hungry & the Czech Republic which had higher standards of accomodation for the same price. Pro -location close to a station which is easy to get to and from. 35 minute walk from Alexanderplatz -cheap -friendly people (staff and guests) Con -rooms are cleaned with quick once over...

Good place to lay low, have a short rest, morning coffee and spend the rest od the day exploring Berling, because there's no point staying in a hotel/hostel when you can go out. Common bathroom, cheap simple rooms, park across hostel, peaceful neighborhood. Near to U station from where you can go to Alexanderplatz.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
