I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel in February 2015. I found the accommodation to be of good standard. The room was clean, and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast is great value for money at 7.50 euros. The hotel is situated back from the main street so although its pretty central, it's nice and quiet. The tram...

I have been a good number of times at Greifswald hotel, first time was completly by hazard but I kind of fall in love with the place. Why, you may ask. Well first there is a feeling of coziness, to be at home, like a country house full of friends. There is nothing special in term of decoration but that...

We (2 over 60s from southern England) stayed in Room 51 at the Greifswald 4 nights early Novermber and it exactly met our needs. Quiet, friendly and very convenient for central Berlin (15 minute walk to Alexanderplatz or M4 tram right outside the entrance) or the trendy parts of Prenzlauer Berg. Room cleaned and tidied every day, excellent breakfast, Bio-supermarket...

If you're use to staying in hostels, you'll love this hotel. If you're use to 3 star western hotels, don't bother with this one. It's close to transport and the hotel is set back from the busy road to give you a relatively peaceful night sleep. The Chinese restaurant next door was good and Alexander Platz was a 20 minute...

A nice hotel in Prenzlauer Berg. Breakfast is served to 1 pm , so there is no need to rush up if you've done a round at the bars in the neighbourhood. Breakfast was very good! The hotel is easily accessible with a tram stop just outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful :-)

I've stayed at the Greifswald several times now and have never been disappointed. The street is quite scruffy and the entrance unprepossessing, but as you progress through 2 'hofs' you leave the noise of the street behind. The hotel itelf is very quiet and if you have a room over-looking the 'hof' , it's charming - chestnut trees brushing against...

This is the second time I have stayed at the Hotel Greifswald, the first time being in June 2004. Greifswald is an affordable, two star hotel situated 3 tram stops (5-10 minutes ride) from Alexanderplatz, in the Prenzlauerberg district of what used to be East Berlin. The area has been smartened up a bit since my last visit (there was...

This is a very comfortable and friendly hotel. The location is great. There are many good restaurants and cafes in the area with outdoor seating in good weather. Room is small but comfortable. Management is very friendly and helpful. And, as others have commented the breakfast is great.

This a warm and welcoming hotel. we travelled as two adults with adolescent children. The two bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable, although the wifi struggled a bit and the kitchenware sparse. W agree with everyone else, a great breakfast.

The food was great, We loved the fresh fruits and beautiful fresh flowers. People there were very friendly, and we felt well taken care of. This is a perfect place to see the sights of Berlin, we definately didn't need a car,as the bus and train and tram are all in walking distance. I give it a thumbs up !...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.

“Room 51 was on the 5th floor at the 'front' and very quiet. The 'front' actually looks out on another block of flats between the hotel and road. There seems to be a building site at the rear.”

“Ask for a room on the front for absolute quietness ( but really the rooms at the back aren't a problem unless you like to sleep all day and party all night). No lift so ask for lower floor if stairs are a problem.”

“There are no lifts in this hotel and the building has about 5 floors. Request a room on a low floor unless you like walking up loads of flights of stairs. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was quiet. The last time I stayed my room was at the back and it overlooked a noisy factory. This may have changed though as my first stay was 8 years ago.”
