IMO, hotels should be 1) clean 2)centric 3)affordable: most tourists SHOULD only use hotels to sleep & shower! Arte Luise fills all & more: rooms were very clean, as were the Shared restrooms and bathrooms (not the same thing). Best part, even Better than the woks of art, was the location: we walked all over the city, at all hours...

Recently, I stayed in the Arte Luise Kunsthotel for the second time and again it was a very nice experience. All rooms have been decorated by a renowned artist and as a result each room is a unique work of art (and - no to forget - very comfortable). So, it is really wortwhile to have a quick look in...

I think the hotel, based on appearance and cleanliness, is quite adequate and the rooms are furnished in a bright and fun way (judging based on pictures primarily as my room was bright but nothing special). The location is very convenient, within easy walking distance of the Bundestag and Brandenburger Tor and within an 8 minute walk of the cafes...

Very hip, efficient hotel. Location great...can walk to all the sites, great neighborhood cafes, pubs; quiet neighborhood, no train noise even though close to tracks. It was a find! Prices reasonable, free wifi, bottled water in the room. They even comped us a bottle of wine for a small problem we had with our TV.

Book it & stay here. I'm not sure where to begin. The location is excellent. The staff are amazingly helpful. There are plenty places to eat & drink nearby. The rooms are crazy cool. We had room 309, where everything in the room was constructed out of ex-plane parts, including the shelves (propellers) and the seats being old aircraft seats....

Me and my daughter went to Berlin for the One Direction koncert. we wanted to stay in the central area, and found the Arte Luise hotel for a very good price. the location is perfect, 6-7min walk to the Friedrichsstrasse train station, 5mins walk to the Brandenburger Tur... the train between Friedrichsstrasse st and Berlin Central train station goes right...

I was there on a trip for two weeks. Breakfast, an addition to the room cost, is delicious and right next door. Every room is drastically different and gives a tourist a wonderful feel for the diversity of Berlin. A great location, not far from restaurants, bars, and public transportation. Friendly and helpful service. I would stay there again

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly, all of whom spoke great English (as well as some other languages). I had a room facing the courtyard, and as a result it was pretty quiet. However, when using one of the bathrooms I could hear the train going by, which seemed a bit...

I absolutely agree with previous reviewers: the key to have a quiet night of sleep in this artsy hotel is the room location. In light of the proximity of the train tracks, I asked contact the hotel staff via email and settle my booking directly (as opposed to their official website), to ensure that I would get a quiet room...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
