We place our 4 main bags in the luggage room in the main reception area. We asked if it was secure and the staff member informed us it can only be open by a staff member. When we returned to get ready for our departure we discovered that someone had taken 2 x iPods, 1 iPad, 1 small digital camera... More

We had a very good stay at A&O Berlin Mitte. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the location was excellent. Considering the price, the breakfast was fine, and again the staff was friendly, efficient and helpful:)

Convinient 2-bedroom appartment with well equiped kitchen. Small balcony where you can sit in the evening. Nice design. Friendly lady at the reception. Good location in the historiacal center of Rostock. 20 minutes walk from central railway & bus stations. 5 minutes walk to shops.

First of all, a receptionist should never show you her palm when you open your mouth to ask something. That means "stop there"! Especially when you cannot see anyone else at the counter, waiting. We were then told to wait, OK. After this I noticed the most flat faced people ever in a reception. So, after this I needed a... More

The rooms and the check-in was fine, but when we tried to buy some icecream from the counter no one seemed interrested in helping us. So we put the icecream back. The breakfast was a caos and the mashine with juice and water didn't work. All in all ok but a lot of problems.

We (4 adults) stayed here with a group of 17 year old students. Clean + functional rooms; breakfast and amenities are good value for money. Location is good too. BUT: upon arrival receptionists explain the houserules (silence between 10pm and 6pm, security staff will patrol...) yet during the 3 nights we stayed there we were almost constantly woken up by... I brought my school group here. Whilst pleasantly surprised by the rooms (they were much cleaner than other reviews had led me to believe) and the breakfast, the noise inside the hostel and outside my window was unbearable- no one could sleep and this sabotaged a trip which involved a lot of walking and activities. No-one at reception seemed to... More

It's been a while i had to stay here for a work related Berlin visit. The rooms vary in quality, I have seen some pretty decent ones but also a couple of extremely worn ones. The breakfast was a noisy mess. The location isn't bad, it is just a short walk from the metro stop Heinrich-Heine-Straße. The wifi was good... More

I had a reservation for the hostel. The room was like a hole, bathroom without windows and very dirty. I changed it for a hotel room. Better but still a low low low level. Value for money.. but stay away from here.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
