Had stayed in other Holiday Inn Expresses around the world so this was a safe choice on a business trip. The 2-way closing door in the bathroom is a cool trick which was also there in the Hong Kong edition of this hotel.
I booked two nights' accommodation for a group of 30 people from South Africa, more than 4 months in advance. Six days before we were due to arrive there, I got a call from them, saying they unfortunately had made a double booking. They proposed...More
Stayed here in early May for 3 nights. We were able to walk to Topography of Terror, Checkpoint Charlie, and Potsdamerplatz easily even in the rain. We also walked to Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag which were about 20 minutes away. S-bahn stop was very close,...More
Berlin is an incredibly interesting and multi-faceted city to explore - and this hotel is a great base to do this from. It is not in the most central location, but then again, no hotel would be, as the city is so spread out. Potsdamer...More

Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today
you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.

You need to get to Anhalter Bahnhof, (this is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel) to get here you will need to change from the airport service into Berlin at any of a number stations. then change to get to any of the following S1 (Wannese) S2 (Blankenfelde) or the S25 (Tetlow Street).
I would advise you to download the German Trains app "DB Navigator" app, this is a great app in so much it will give you live merto service and which platform to use.
Once you come out of the station, head towards the old ruins of the former station, then look for the green Holiday Inn Express sign, its not far from the station
This is a great hotel for loacl sight seeing
