I got to see some of the suites as we had interviews set up in them and they were beautiful. Next time i might be...

sehr angenehmes Haus, perfect in all directions: excellent rooms, excellent silence and cleanliness. The restaurant and the breakfast are always very good, not many things but best quality, and very quiet and confortable Spa.

Spent 2 hours in the rooftop garden at the infamous Hotel de Rome. The garden is beautifully done and has a great view of the city. Especially great when you are with good friends! Unfortunately it is packed with people, you cannot order a head of time, service is worse than terrible and highly expensive! We waited over an hour...

Breakfast is 37 Euros irrespective of what you have! So if you just like a lot of us want a very light breakfast of say coffee and toast you are paying 37 Euros for it! Either the room rate should include breakfast or there should be a facility for just tea, coffee, toast etc.

This was the second time I stayed at this hotel and I enjoyed it again. And I am coming back because everything works perfectly well here from the arrival to departure. The staff are super friendly and professional. Benjamin, the concierge, was exceptionally helpful in choosing the opera to go to. All doormen are very nice which is a rare...

Room was in very bad condition, scratches and dirt on walls, furniture scratches and heavily used. By no means in Property relation to pricing. We were Shown 3 rooms prior to this one, inacceptable, mostly used. Bikini 25 hours or Duke Ellington are mich better and cooler trades.

The hotel very much lived up to its reputation. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The common spaces are delightfully designed. We did not have the time to visit the Spa or the roof top bar but heard great things about both. Above all the staff is superb. The concierge knowledgeable and resourceful. We got tickets to galerie events...

Very tasteful Location in the heart of "Berlin Mitte". High ceilings, generous rooms and an Overall Feeling of comfort and safety. The Price Point is very good - in London or New York, a Hotel of this Quality would go for double the Price.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
